jesus, almost two months playing this and still can't win a solo game. i'm so lame, lol. i get too anxious when reaching top 5 situations, can't build shit and instead of the players, i fight against the keyboard.
always had fun getting a couple of kills, but now i'm getting bitter and frustrated. i'll probably throw a party the day i can win a solo game.

The win is great but setting new kill records for yourself is just as sweet. Feels like all the forum reading / twitch viewing you do pay off when your base building and gunplay is on point. Lol.
I dunno my record high, but I know my record low is like 2 and maybe even 1 kill because fall kills didn't count and sometimes they suicide rather than giving you the kill. In solo I like to be sneaky. Especially if I have weak gear late game. Sneak around to get that one kill on a guy who has everything you need to win literally taking the win from their hands and putting it in yours.
I have the same problem but with a PS4 controller. So I don't even try to build in the end game. Just stay out of sight and let the kings in their towers fight it out. Then try to mop up the winner. It's worked 8 times for me so far.
Played my first match last night and was pretty overwhelmed. (Never really played a BR type game before...)
Dropped into the middle of the map, ran around picking up stuff for about 10 mins while making my way to the centre, then found other players in a town and got killed. Came in 16th.
I get that you're supposed to build on the fly and use terrain/structures to your advantage in combat, but is there any advantage/reward for building an actual fort and holding up in one part of the map? Seems like the storm closing in would put a damper on that option.
What's the general incentive for survival and leveling up? Is it all purely cosmetic stuff while your in-game skills improve organically as you play more?
I'd like to give this game a chance, but initial impression is that it's very haphazard with no clear motivation or gauge for success. The randomised character also adds to this weird feeling of non-commitment... I was kind of hoping to customise my own avatar at least.
If anyone has any tips for a noob or had a similar experience and has since turned around, I'd appreciate any input!

Did a random duo game with fill and got a guy that has a mic but didn't say shit all game until the end. Had no skin as well so I figure he was a noobie. He didn't do much all game then all of a sudden when there was like 20 people left he turns into a sniping God and took over the game and got us a w.

As much as I like the replay system, the controls are rubbish and you can only save 10, so what's the point. And I don't see why PC can have the last 100 games saved and be able to save an unlimited amount of games? How does that work? The replay is only 10MB. If I save the recording of a game I like (or any game I win) it's over 1GB, so saving a game for 10MB makes no odds to me.
Also, who was it that said "don't hit the circle, it gives you more materials"!? Weeks I've been doing that :D I blame Trump and his post truth dystopia.

I had the same issue over the weekend. It seems like its been corrected tho cause I was able to save one game replay.
Finished up the battle pass this weekend since I will be going on vacation for a couple of weeks; I had to buy the 10 level bundle and a few extra levels to do it. Wasn't too bad since you get about 1500 V-Bucks from the pass itself.
I have to say it was a very fair deal from someone who plays just to complete daily challenges and the weekly challenges ASAP. I probably would have been able to level 100 without buying extra levels if I could stick around for the last couple of weekly challenges. The level 100 challenges weren't as bad as I thought either. Getting top 3 in squads three times is really hard if you are a solo fill player like myself though. Was able to do it and win my second solo fill squad game.
I am curious how they will do the next season pass as they kind of exhausted everything to do with the map/eliminations. They've had to add things every week to make going to different parts of the map every week feel different (gnomes, ice cream trucks, dance floors, no dancing signs) it got old to me though. Treasure maps were an interesting idea in theory, but it was just easier to go to the sub-reddit and just look for the location. Eliminating 3 people at specific locations always felt like enough to me.
I am kind of getting exhausted with the game, but if the next season pass is interesting I might stick with it. The replay feature is pretty great as well. I need to mess around with it some more though. I hope I can get around to saving my last win and just observe how the other players got to the final part of the battle.

Finally got around to trying the game on Friday playing with a friend in duo who's also new to the game. Was a bit of a struggle at first because we both suck at FPS games but we managed to win a game by playing in stealth and the last two teams killing each other. lol

Pretty late in the game to get anything out of this Battle Pass, but if you have money to burn, they're having a sale on Battle Pass stars.

I'm already 15 levels in, so I've unlocked a decent amount of stuff. Hope to get a few more things by the end of the season.
If you concentrate on the weekly challenges, you should get a good amount of tiers by the end of the pass.
I think I hit 68 in battle pass this weekend by cleaning up some of the challenges. Not sure if I can get to 100 in time, but hopefully 80 or so.
They had some kind of bulk sign up but I am sure the keys are all used up by now since it was a week or two ago.
I don't know much how it will work but I believe I read something about crafting. No idea really. It'll be under NDA once I actually do know something.

I'd assume you're better off using the share button to do your clip trimming.
I haven't thrown my controller since Dark Souls 1 but I did today. Lost two fights in the top 10 because instead of building my gun somehow fires when it's not even equipped and the other guy just shoots me in the face. Every update there's some new weird ass bug that fucks me over.
If you survive you're basically set for the endgame already.
I seriously hope this comet thing pans out though. The area is way too good lootwise relative to position, it always felt intentional to me that Loot Lake and Dusty Depot were pretty crap originally given they're dead center on the map, Tilted doesn't have to worry about the circle pretty much ever.
I like landing Snobby/Lucky but they both can get absolutely screwed by the circle and make it a whole game of running, so I usually just go Pleasant or Retail now. Plus after the intial surge of players landing at whereever they need to for the weekly challenge, the game goes back to being warped after you win your intial area to basically not seeing people in the midgame until top 15-10 because everyone else died at tilted.
About 750 solo matches played and got my second win earlier. Look out Ninja.
I can't wait for season 4 to start. I agree with the poster above... It's all I ever want to play any more. God of War though... I think that one's going to take me away from it for a couple weeks.

It is all about surviving it. Usually come away with 5-6 kills minimum if you come out alive and with tons of gear.
I drop at the containers a lot. Tons of chests and somewhat close to the middle.
Win tilted and you don't have to loot or farm materials for the rest of the game. I hate smacking trees when their is less than 20 people alive. I want to be focusing on killing other players or setting myself with good high ground rather then running in circles gathering materials.
BTW last few weeks I've been landing in retail and salty more with my squad and I see a lot of newer players all try to land on the roof and break in. It isn't a bad strategy but I don't think a lot of newer players know that you can't get a shotgun from a chest (and we all know how OP those things are in early game when no one has shields or materials). Try landing through the window or even the door and go straight for a shotgun. You will easily destroy those guys smacking through the roof and take whatever loot they got after you killed them.
