The underworld tour guy mentioned this, too. Thought he was goofing.

Along certain parts of that road, you notice a lot of crappy hotels that have no vacancy signs up every time you pass them.
I feel like those attack ads might be somewhat effective in Eastern Washington, but for the 45th district they are kind of laughable.
Did Moon blow her entire TV budget during the primary? I saw lots of Moon ads during the primary, but I don't think I've seen a single ad for her in the general. Plenty of Durkin ads though.
Haha, the best part is including the Lenin statue as one of the locations.Dropped my ballot off at the local library on Sunday. +1 for Manka Dhingra. Have you all seen the ridiculous attack ads on YouTube from the Republicans? It's positioning Seattleites as evil liberal freeloaders and trying to use their supposed support of Dhingra to scare east siders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjjZmn-7IAk
I've been getting them on the iOS YouTube app constantly in the last couple of days.
Definitely feels weird not having a vote for the Seattle mayor this time now that I've moved out of the city.
Feels like there are more seattlelites in this thread than were in the other.
So is this good or bad, or neither?
Ed Murray without the sexual abuse allegations.
Probably not terrible. Probably not great.
Having a non-pedophile mayor is pretty cool.

Aren't you just describing what the Seattle freeze is?Hey, SeattleERA. I didn't see the thread. Rainier Beach for me.
The Seattle Freeze is a myth that people use to not cop to their complicity in low energy/importance for friends.
Did ya'll hear that rain last night? I did up all of it with a hand/foot/mouth rashing toddler.
I suppose so, but they're saying the ones that scream about it being a thing are the ones that are perpetuating it

Of course, but not everyone who points it out is putting in that effortAs the extrovert, I'm calling BS on that part lol. There are a fair amount of people who try not to perpetuate the Freeze, but it's a two-way street. Can't exactly make someone want to give a crap, unfortunately. Pointing it out isn't perpetuating it. :-p

Fair. A large part of it is that WA is like 48th out of 50th on the extrovert scale; so people here just like being hermits and keeping to themselves. I also wonder whether the nature of transit in the area (IE; once you move into the city, it's very difficult to leave the area, and traffic sucks) also keeps people segregated from each other. But I do agree that a lot of it is based in folks trying to rationalize the fact that they don't make their friends as high of a priority as they do other things. Which is fine, I just wish people would be up front about it.
No, more of the idea is, "I want to make friends, but Seattle('s people) won't make friends with me. It's all their fault."

I really threw people for a loop back when they'd say, "We should hang out," and I pull out my calendar and start offering open dates. Life has changed for me a lot since then, having a family and working and parenting from home. On one hand, my time is more takenleaving less to socialize, and the other, I have next to no alone time unlike when I was single. Playing a game or watching a movie is pretty appealing nowadays.
With so many people moving into Seattle for work, it makes sense that work is a priority and takes a lot of their time. But I think the overall culture is changing with all the influx of poeple the "Seattle Freeze" should be renamed to something like the "Puget Sound-and-surrounding-area-full-of-national-and-international-professional-transplants-too-busy-to-make-friends Freeze"
And oh yes, public transit leaves a lot to be desired. Getting through downtown to Ballard is a hassle by car too. Don't even get me started on Magnolia.
I have a small group of friends (with kids) that I see almost every week. That frequency shocks some other parents I talk to. We make time for it and it's part of our routine. That plus down time and the occasional wrestling show sets me up fine. Most people understand the family thing, but the Freeze is primarily referenced by the 20-35 year old non-kid crowd. Plus, frankly, I'm old enough that my friends are having kids, and while I don't see them that often, they still find time every couple of months. Matter of priorities.
Seatac/Tukwila as well. This one escalated quickly. Nasty out there. Luckily I work in a candle factory. :/

Seems like the outages are spread out pretty rabdomly.
I figured out that the Panera on Broadway next to SCC is right outside the outage area, so I got to eat actual food and use their wifi for a bit. Got paranoid that I left a candle burning (I didn't) so I didn't stick around.
