Seeing a playtester pull off that exact trick struck fear in Ben Brode's heart. "These guys were play testing on Friday," Brode said. "I watched a guy play Shudderwock, summon an exact copy, and then there's another card called Grumble, who returns all of the minions to your hand, and now they cost one. And so that battlecry went off, and that second copy went back to his hand with a cost of one. And there's 20 other battlecries. So this thing went on for a minute—and then he plays the second Shudderwock." Brode shook his head, laughing.

Brode tried to put a stop to the madness, telling his colleagues: "Guys, whatever card you made that enables this, you just change it right now." No can do, they told him. All of those cards are going into The Witchwood.

"I was like, 'Nooooo. What have we done.' So, um, I'm a little worried about that one."

The fact that Brode mentions Shudderwock then follows up with:

"We've been working on technology that lets us change cards without patching so we could move as fast as we want to in those scenarios," Brode said."

Yeah this combo is getting a hotfix quick.

Thought i check out the new popular decks this morning and watching videos of Shudderwock decks makes me not want to play until its nerfed. :(

And i hate playing agro, its the most boring style of play there is.

That's the problem I faced too.

Had all combo, but Wock is in the bottom 5 cards.
Had Wock, no lifedrink
Had everything else, no grumble

Kinda amazing Toast had pieces of his combo on time.

It's kind of funny to say that aggro is the most boring style of play just after you mention a style of play that literally involves both players doing nothing for 10+ minutes. :P To me, that's MORE boring.

I'm feeling slightly better though because people are clearly playing the deck without fully getting it. Had a guy combo out but forgot to Grumble or Primordial so all he did was make a massive field against a Doomsayer. Whoops.

Aggro decks are great! They keep combo and stall decks in check and it's always more enjoyable to keep your decks balanced with greed/survivability than to just go full greed and suffer 30minute mirrors of who had the most taunts and drew their DK first.

All hail the return of face hunter!

I played a ton of games and I feel I understand the deck mechanisms reasonably well now. It was somewhat satisfying to win some games at rank 9-10 with a deck I built mostly myself, just with the suggested 1 drops in the thread.

Unfortunately, none of my versions had any reasonable sort of success aside from the run where I got lucky and faced more shamans and mages than usual.

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I feel there is not a lot of room to swap out cards. Geddon was a different tech card and I tried putting it in for fun because the other one was basically never getting played either. The only things I can really think of to improve the deck are:

1. Add archerus veteran(s)? If you can get a minion to stick, they give you an extra damage so there's still a potential impact despite the lack of charge and damage. However, if there's a taunt you're not getting any progress.
2. Add wolfrider(s)? That gives you the 1 damage per mana you're looking for, but again if there are any taunt minions, you're probably getting nothing for 3 mana.
3. Add cave hydra(s)? It has a little survivability, might help in some rare lucky cases against hunters and paladins spamming their own small minions, and if it survives it threatens 7 damage with kill command.

I feel something similar to this deck has potential at rank 10, but thus far I can't get it to work.

Do you crafted some of the new cards already? I have around 5000 dust but I am hesitating to spent dust on decks that are hot now but might be underwhelming in two weeks.

Therefore I am having not that much fun right now because I have to play decks that are missing epics and legendaries. Can't even try odd/even because I am missing the legendaries.

I really think the free legendary should have been either Baku or Genn similar to C'Thun in Old Gods.

Baku is pretty safe craft imo, enables three strong decks atm (hunter, dude paladin and taunt warrior).

Dust is a limited resource, the only craft I see now is the shaman legendary because it will be probably be changed.

I crafted a few cards, but it was mainly old warlock cards I didn't have (1x cube, 2x voidlord) and 1 Godfrey since he's insanely good.

This is true but there's a big difference between watching a card play a 20 minute battlecry animation and a 20 minute game of a more skill based control deck.
The only reason i dislike argo is because its kind of brainless just hitting face 90% of the time.

Id take out the geddon and add a leroy to it instead?

How has the game's direction been during C&C and the newest expansion?

Thinking about getting back into the game but it's gonna be one hell of a grind or one hell of a spending spree to catch up.

Most people in wild are playing the exact same decks as last expansion. And I mean exact same decks. I think less than a third of my games had a single witchwood card in it.

They don't even try to tech in one new card just to see if it works in their favorite deck from last meta. Like maybe Aggro Shaman would want just the new Zap!, or Big Priest would want just a Divine Hymn, or Control Druid want just a Ferocious Howl. All common cards that seem like they should easily upgrade those lists and they just don't see play. I know they might not draw it, but I don't think I've seen a single old list that just happened to have 1 new card that fits best.

For the people that are doing new things:

Mages is the most changed, running either Naga Giants or Mechs now thanks to the new draw options. Also some old casino decks being revived with the new Vex Crows as a nice pair with Flamewaker.

Paladins are experimenting a lot with Bellringer Sentry and Baku. Bellringer Sentry has a shot at making Mysterious Challenger obsolete.

Shamans are trying everything under the sun with Shudderwock, and a little bit of Even Token Shaman too.

Hunter is all about the Odds now like in Standard.

Rogue, Druid, Warlock and Priest are unimaginative robots that don't know how to do anything without a netdeck to follow.

Warrior is literally dead. Not a single one in my 50 games. I played it some and it seems like Dragon or Pirate warrior with a small rush package is pretty good, but no one else is playing it.

Is Darius worth the craft? I have the dust to spare and he seems good in general.
