Reviews! Here's Blood's review of Minit:
I'm deep in my first playthrough of P5 right now, so a short game like this feels like a good palate cleanser for when I need a break. I really like the gimmick, also.
Watching it now. It talks about the early setup and it goes a lot into the game structure, fighting mechanics, etc. doesn't really get into any story elementsHow spoilery is the GoW review? Might be the only one I watch if it keeps it reasonable.
I may be wrong. I've supported a few patreons on and off occasionally and all of them changed to charging the moment you subbed so I figured it was a site wide change. Wouldn't know about how a new patreon sub on EZA still works as I've been subbed since day 1 without lapse. But yeah, if that is the case and there is no charge up front, then I'm not as positive on that "$1 and cancel" bit.Are you sure about that? I know you can set your Patreon account to charge patrons the moment they pledge but EZA doesn't do that, they only charge at the start of the month. So as far as I'm aware, if you pledge and unpledge within the same month, you aren't charged anything.
Regina's wedding is also a top tier episode.I'm looking for some suggestions of good Fiasconauts episodes to check out. I've only watched Heist.

Yeaah, Jones didn't say you will cry after the review. He teared up while going through the material while editing the video. Obviously he wouldn't include something probably very spoilery in the review footage.I watched the review and there wasn't anything particularily tear worthy.
The full game? Sure, but the review really didn' lol

Not exactly media blackout, but I'm not exposing myself to any God of War details
i didn't pay attention to who wrote the god of war review. then i heard "the stakes are high" and went "oh it was huber"

I give up on Kyle re: Patreon. His troll game is too strong. GG Bosman lol
I knew God of War would be well received when Ian drastically changed his interest in the game.
From: "I've never played a single one of those and i wanna play that, that was emotional."
To: "Is it weird that I just don't care about this game?"
It was Horizon all over again lol
Kyle next week: "Patrons get the podcast two days early, but if you aren't a patron, you can DM me on Twitter and I'll send you the link".

I don't think Kyle's totally wrong in wanting to allow non-Patrons to get a sample of what they're missing somehow, but I don't think the podcast is the best way to do that since it is does go free after two days. Which brings me to the other issue with the Patreon: not enough true exclusives. There really isn't enough content-based incentive to be a Patron. Cup of Jones is fun, but hardly essential. I hope they plan to fix that.
I understand the other allies not agreeing with Kyle (and if the majority of them don't he probably shouldn't encourage the practice) but I actually do think he has a good point buried deep down in there. He even brought it up on the last podcast, he thinks of it like HBO Go where they encourage sharing because they think that converts more people into fans who may eventually decide to become patrons. I also agree with his view of Patreon; I'm not purchasing the right to get a few podcasts early, vote on group streams, or watch Cup of Jones, those are just nice bonuses. I'd give the allies $5 a month even if there were no rewards at all because I want them to exist and keep making content to get me through the work day. Certainly doesn't apply to everyone but I imagine a good bulk of patrons feel the same way.
Patreon and eza are not hbo or Netflix. Sharing accounts is built into their business models.
The podcast is already free for anyone to watch. Patreon let's you see it early. If the link is out, why would anyone ever pay $5? Yes maybe there are people like you can me who just want them to exist and donate without caring about the patreon reward but that set of people is limited.
And those people are already donating to the patreon. Newer people need more of an incentive.
Last week was a bit. I think he was being genuine this week. I think he really thinks people sharing early access with a friend would be beneficial. But I guess we won't ever know for sure, unless he answers someone asking about it on Reddit or something.Kyle's bit at the end of the podcast isn't going to convince anyone one way or another. It's just a bit. Move on.
