Don't be so harsh on Sirotkin. He isn't a wunderkind like Verstappen or Leclerc, but he certainly isn't mediocre.
For F1 standards, I will honestly say he does fall very much in the mediocre category. Mind you, he is not the only driver to be there and it certainly is enough to not completely be terrible as far as results go in a decent car. But he will not be someone we remember years from now.

Verstappen's presence is suddenly rewriting the rules for the past two decades. That isn't necessarily a bad thing per se: not long ago we had major penalties for minor racing incidents, tiny infractions, we had to regulate race lines, side-by-side action, cutting, etc.. It's not bad we're looking at a time where side-by-side, a bit of bumping and pushing around is fine, but we can not suddenly forgot the rules that have been created, the past penalties, the driving standards of most of the drivers out there. Allowing everything Verstappen is doing will change Formula 1, for better and for worse at the same time, and it's interesting how everyone looks at contacts differently when Max is involved. It was a needlessly aggressive manouver at what, lap 2? He already had the pass basically, Hamilton backed off slightly, but Max had to go on and push him off the track anyway. Lewis didn't run off the track but instead stayed on the minimal space he had left. Verstappen's car broke as a result. But the problem is, he doesn't get a reprimand, the press defends him, fans vote for his actions half the races, even when he crashes out. Everyone wants him to do these manouvers and there is very little incentive not doing them apparently, since usually he's the one benefitting and the other driver retiring. This time it went south, but FIA is still sleeping on the issue. Maybe they'll act when someone breaks a leg or worse as Verstappen cannon dives into his car.

I mean didn't senna basically try to run people off the track?

McLaren in management restructure after poor start to season.

The McLaren Group is now formed of three clear divisions: Applied Technologies, Automotive and Racing. Leadership of the business is simplified, with each division led by a CEO. The layer of McLaren Technology Group is being dissolved from the corporate structure.

The Executive Committee (ExCom), comprising Shaikh Mohammed and Mansour Ojjeh, will continue in its overseeing role.

Jonathan Neale becomes Chief Operating Officer of the McLaren Group. Zak Brown becomes CEO, McLaren Racing. Mike Flewitt continues as CEO, McLaren Automotive. A new CEO of McLaren Applied Technologies is being recruited and will be announced in due course.

Eric Boullier, Racing Director, will report directly to Zak Brown, while John Allert, Chief Marketing Officer, continues to oversee the company's marketing function, reporting into Zak Brown as before.

No idea why Boullier is still with the team... As for Zak Brown, he is all talk, Probably will be outed soon unless McLaren can turn things around.

And here I was thinking they were doing great compared to last year(s).

Williams really sold their soul to the devil with the Stroll family. What a shame.
Daddy Stroll is already pissed, it would be funny if he bought Force India for Lance.

The £100m fee in switching from Honda to Renault obviously meant a fuckton more to McLaren than we originally thought.

Seems like they really have turned into a midfield team both in terms of resource and finances.

So...still no news on F1 TV launching this week?

Hope they'll have it at least in Baku as F2 will be with them again....

They will complete the transition to a midfield team when Alonso leaves them after this season. All they can hope for is that Lando won't get any better offers.

We might soon come to the conclusion that they've been a midfield team in denial since 2013 and the Honda issues were just masking their downfall a bit.

I can't believe there's another race this weekend. I still haven't settled down from the last race.

A good decision. Especially with how many ADs US broadcasters shove in.
I really don't understand why you need intervals to show ads. Here in Brazil we have ad overlays during the race, but they never stop showing the races until it ends, and it's been like this since the 80's. I mean, this is the age of distraction...

Did liberty address making cars more competitive when following in dirty air?

For me it may be better to simplify the aero - if there isn't a need or benefit to spend millions on multiple variations of wings and aero for minuscule gain, that can naturally lead to less spend by all teams and help the smaller teams be more competitive. And aero definitely needs looking at - far more than engines IMO

I'd say that this only goes for most drivers in F1. Who remembers drivers like Glock, Buemi, Fisichella or Kovalainen? Frentzen is going to be remembered as the guy who's wife got stolen by Schumacher. Heidfeld? The guy that got replaced mid-season by Bruno Senna. No one is going to care if you haven't won at least a couple of races.

But several of those guys have won multiple races...

So McLaren actually thought they were going to challenge Red Bull at the start of this season. Step one to the turnaround: realistic expectations.

I remember so many people I think on Autosport going. "McLaren were a great team before Hamilton and will be a great team after him." Yup...they were so right. They'll probably come good at some point I hope, but it doesn't seem like it'll be anytime soon.

Hey Buemi will always be remembered as the guy whose both front wheels fell off that one time.
