Thought: Sony typically does price cuts/promos/slim models in the fall. Spider Man is their biggest fall release that's exclusive so,...

Could we see $199 PS4 slim or even a super slim on September 7th, a la PS4 slim suddenly releasing Sept 14, 2016?

Idk if AMD would have a 7nm version of their APU ready, maybe 12nm? Or just a price cut on slim?

I think a $199 Slim/$349 Pro model would work well for the end of 2018.

nah, remember the base ps4 is now the one with 1TB HDD. so i expect at best a $300 1TB Slim Spider-Man bundle and a $400 Pro Spider-Man Bundle.

then $50 off each by the holidays

I don't see what the 1Tb has to do with it. That was meant to increase the value at $299 in 2017. A whole year later they'll need something to increase $300 value again or drop price

Funny timing

The PS4 stills sells greatly at 300$ so with the insane line up in the next 6 months I don't see any incentive to drop the price.
If you have been following Sony's sales what they will like do is bundle the unit with any of the hottest games releasing this year while keeping the same price tag.

Just got a pre-order in store at EB Games Canada!

$10 down to pre-order in store, was first at my location. It went up online on their website as well at 12:00pm ET and sold out in less than 5 minutes.

I don't see what those links have to do with anything. I already knew it was $299. What were you trying to communicate?

Obviously they don't have to cut anything. I was just wondering if they'll use the fall lineup to get extra profit via a super slim model (which would be designed to be profitable at a lower msrp) or if they'd cut the price on the slim.

Considering they were willing to sell the 1TB slim for $250 in June 2017 (gold too) and for $199 Black Friday 2017, it would indicate to me that they probably pay closer to $200 to make each unit since they have the flexibility to make less money on limited time deals. Considering the $199 BF deal was probably bought by close to a million consumers (guessing but it's probably more than the $249 deal last June) then I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do that if they were losing money.

I imagine they'd break even, more or less, at $199. They're not gonna lose $20-$50 per unit for 500k-1M Black Friday buyers so that makes me think they make $50 or more per $299 sale

Just saying, they could probably still make a profit at $249 and stop sales from slowing during a period when they traditionally do and they could probably reduce costs by making a super slim and still profit at $199/$249

Top loading drive (like they do), smaller APU, smaller case, maybe fewer RAM modules on the board (I think there is 8 now?) could help bring costs down idk

For $150 I don't expect a very nice statue in all honesty. So hiding it is just more worrying.

Gentle Giant makes excellent staues Im not worried at all.

I'd buy an edition without the statue for $80 or so. I have too much junk on my shelves already.

Also too bad the preorder stuff only comes with either the collector's edition or the digital deluxe. The DLC could be mediocre and I'm not paying 25% more for a digital copy vs physical.

Ugh...Amazon is really dropping the ball here. Absolutely ridiculous, I can't remember the last time they were this delayed on getting something updated / available.

I just preordered from GameStop (regretfully) because I can't be bothered to refresh for two days in a row. I'll get it if I'm awake/around when it goes live but at least I have one if I can't get it in time.

You won't be missing out on anything, as far as I am aware, all the the preorder dlc can be unlocked in the game. Plus most retailers where I am seem to be offering the same dlc with the standard editions, not sure if this is the same where you are at.

Regarding the story chapters, I think it was James that confirmed this. This content is developed independently from the main game. So kind of like a season pass of sorts but don't think it was actually confirmed as being 'the' season pass if this makes any sense =p

The steelbook though!

Uncharted 4 had an edition with Steelbook, physical artbook, and digital items for $80. That's for people who don't care about statues.

Pre-order suits are unlockable in the game for free.

Yeah. I just said forget it and pre-ordered from Gamestop. If and when they decide to get it together I'll cancel because I don't want to pay an extra $20 for release day shipping from Gamestop.

Gentle Giant makes excellent statues true, but when they have had deals with being a part of collectors editions they have not been on the same level of quality. In comparison they are better than triforce but thats a low bar. Their last one to my knowledge was Aloy from Horizon and it was not anywhere near the level of their mainline stuff they produce. But it is Spiderman which is fully suited so it shouldnt be too difficult to put together a passable mass produced collectible.

I'm sorta torned between buying the standard edition and the collector's edition. One hand, I just pay $48 for the game and nothing else. On the other hand, I get the game, with the steelbook, a statue, and the DLC but for $120...

The waiting for Amazon to open up preorders has been a pain. It's basically my only option to get it. I hope they start them soon.

I wonder how "limited" it really is. EB in Canada is out of stock, US isn't.

If you're in NA and still waiting, I highly recommend you check with Best Buy and GameStop, which both currently still have stock of the Collector's Edition.

Given that I have a credit card with cash back on Amazon, I'd only order it there.

I don't even understand what the hold up is?

Amazon screwing the pouch? Sony?

BB and Gamestop having paid for a semi exclusive?
Wth is happening?

That's ominous.

*orders*

I can cancel my pre-order on Best Buy if Amazon gets their shit together, right? I have some credit there
