And other people act like he somehow isn't needed in the team. He was a key part in Portugal getting out of the group stage and getting to final. He was also a key part in Portugal getting to this World Cup (as well as the previous World Cup, for example). To say he wasn't/isn't important to the team is beyond ridiculous.
Oh i'd never say that. He's always important. And insanely good. Some just act like he gave Portugal the title. He was an important part of it.

Mexico will lose in the round of 16 again.

Argentina will take it, probably in some poetic way like Higuain equalizing the game at the last minute and then Messi winning it on extra time.

My country (Greece) failed to qualify so I will be rooting for England, Portugal and Argentina. England because I want them to win something one day, Portugal because our former national head coach works there (Santos) and Argentina because Messi deserves better.

I expect Germany, Spain, or Brazil to get to the finals. I don't think France will make it to the finals.

I really hope Belgium and Argentina makes a good show if it. I'd be happy if Messi won it

I predict Mexico will go out in the first round for the first time in 24 years, we will get destroyed by Germany in the first match.

Brazil will probably defear Germany in the final.

I'm rooting for Portugal to take it away, but it will unlikely happen.
their 1st match IMO is the most important, Spain has been in good form lately. Putting up a good fight will be foreshadowing on how the rest of the tourney will turn out for them

Sweden: I play potato *gets knocked out asap*

England: Plays attractive football and wins it all, to the soaring praises and admirations of the world. Then draws all the wrong conclusions about why, and thus sets them selves up for a new dry spell of about 80 years or so.

General fuckery: Something dumb will happen, some team that is everybody's darling will choke, a referee will have *interesting standards*. It is known.

Well, we (Mexico) are fucking shite, so I don't expect much. I'm excited to see how we fuck up this time, even though I think we'll make it past the group stage.

It's also gonna be exciting to follow England's shenanigans throughout the whole competition. I'm a huge PL fan and I feel like they're our European equivalent.

I want Argentina to win because I'm tired of hearing the idiotic WC counterargument to Messi being the GOAT

I want Portugal to go all the way with 0-0 draws and penalty kick shootout wins, just like the Euros

all hail Fernando Santos

Mexico to not qualify to the Round of 16 for the first time since 1978. We have the worst coach we've had in decades.

Portugal is going up to the semis at least. Brazil is gonna win, Paulinho will score in the final. Lewandowski will be the top scorer. Germany's group will bring us surprises, I feel like Germany might end up qualifying in second place (and playing against Brazil right after that).

Gabriel Jesus will score the winning goal against Germany, and Brazil will remain the NT with most WCs ever, while England struggles to pass the group stage.

Yet another world cup where Nigeria is paired with Argentina.

Other than that, there's bound to be casualties thanks to Russian fans.

Well, Sweden disposed of the Netherlands and Italy in the qualifiers so we will have no problem going through to the round of 16. Or more likely, we have used our luck already and will leave the world cup after losing to Germany and Mexico.

My teams (Italy & America) are out, so I need to pick an few underdog teams who still have a bit of a chance to root for, I suppose. Suggestions?

Kinda glad USA didn't make it. Time Zone difference would have killed me. So instead, I can go to sleep like normal, wake up, spend 2 seconds looking at scores and go about my day normally.

France should have a good shot at winning.

I'll probably won't watch a lot of group matches as they are usually boring as hell

France or Germany to win.

England to get knocked out embarrassingly and completely underperforming.

Slick TV graphics and montages.

Racism.

Violent clashes between fans (read: Russians attacking other fans).

Little to no policing. The police will only be there to defend the Russians and blame everyone else.

All in all a pretty shoddy tournament.
