Man Alice is the worst!

Hope the reason Cassandra looks like her is cause she's a future version of Alice.

I wonder what the agreement Fogg had with the Library because rationed magic seems really fucking stupid.

I was pretty.. eh.. about it until the end than it became interesting. Though I feel like I may need to go back and re-watch it cause I feel like I some how missed something.

Fuck the Library. That is all.

I agree

Fuck the library

fucking rationing magic WTF...

also man that thing is now loose...this cliffhanger is gonna drive me insane to no end now :(

also that fairy queen though...big respect. At this point this means now fairy deals can be trusted again since the being that broke it was killed

The Fairies are totally going to fuck the library up because the deal wasn't non-reciprocal.

I didn't see the finale playing out the way it did, but like I expected the show definitely didn't stick with the status quo.

Now our main group has new persona's with no knowledge of magic (at least for now), nice nod to the book with Margo being Janet now. Elliot looked suitably creepy chasing after Quentin, err Brian, as well with aims to wreak havoc. I imagine a good portion of next season is them reawakening to who they used to be and stopping the creature or locking it back up.

The visuals for Castle Blackspire were really well done.

A lot of sacrifice in the finale with the Fairy Queen dying for her people, Quentin ready to stay in the castle, and Julia giving up being a goddess to restore magic.

Lol @ Fogg having to go to the Library to get more magic because his students can't even do homework and his teachers can barely teach.

Not a fan of the reset or the body swapping child-like big bad. They needed more time to finish this season, it was really good until this deflating balloon of an ending.

This really should have been a two-parter.

Not sure I'm feeling the amnesia plot but we'll see where it goes.

Welp, can't watch the finale. Sci Fi Channel's stupid website won't load the video on any of my devices. This is fun.

The problem was that this wasnt an ending, it was effectively episode 1 of S4. Unlike last season where events actually happened.

Also that's 3 seasons and 3 L the team took. Like really throw them a bone for a change with a reveal of something bad happening.

Irene getting destroyed next season is going to be quite the catharsis moment.

That being said, when did the monster take Eliot's body? I don't remember seeing it get close to him after it switched into Ona.

During the ending, Alice is telling Fogg that the creature is out there, and will find them eventually, so It's safe to say after the mind wipes, the creature was still able to find them and started with Eliot.

They definitely set up S4 with it. Dunno how ratings are, but if they were planning this right after S2, they might've thought this was their best shot at a S4.

Yeah it sucks for the next 9 months; but given the jump in quality for this season, I trust that they'll do something satisfying with the twist.

I can't wait to see what shape Filory is in with Fen as acting High King for a few months.

That makes sense. I just hope we don't completely lose El. He's still one of the best characters on the show, and killing him off in such a bizarre way would feel cruel even by this show's standards.

It seems the show enjoys rotating turning characters into pricks. Julia sucked since the beginning, but they managed to turn her even more of a prick season two. Season three was Alice's turn. Four, Elliot's. Damn :(

Please, don't screw Margo season 5. Or Quentin, he finally managed to be more likable season 3.

This season has been great, some of the episodes were pure gold. I hope that the next season continues improving.

Adored the entire season, except for the Felicia Day stuff, which was dire.

That was one of the weakest parts of the season for me. I haven't seen much of her work, but it's like she's always playing the same obnoxious character.

As for my favourite episode, it probably would be the one where Quentin and Elliot have to live their whole live to get the key, followed by the one that was from Penny's perspective after "dying" (special mention also for the musical episode, I usually loathe them, but this one was fun).

Love the show. It's one of the only ones I watch live episodes of instead of waiting for the whole season to stream. The finale was fine, a little anticlimactic for me because the "big bad locked in a castle monster" was not written well. I mean it just got killed, and it wants to play, and doesn't even follow them when they drag Alice back? Like ok sure.

It was super-vague because they clearly didn't want to box themselves in a corner next season.

Loved the season, finale was ugh. Hey look Alice fucked everyone over again....no one should watch her when get there cause you know she hasn't been sketchy all season. The whole memory wipe thing sucks because we are going to lose valuable episodes next season while they regain memories and the show only gets 13 episodes. Also having all the bad guys win out just leaves you a little hollow.

Her character was just really bizarre. It's like they went "oh shit Felicia Day wants to star in our show let's give her a character to play" and she shows up for like 2 episodes and then completely disappears. I legit thought she was going to become a new major character given how much attention she was getting but she just shows up for a bit and then disappears. Probably the biggest miss-step of the season.

Aside from MST3K (which probably isn't a good example of her playing an actual character) probably the best thing I know her from is Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog where she plays the love interest of the main character Dr Horrible and "villain" Captain Hammer. She's probably my least favorite performance of the leads but she's not terrible I guess? IDK I'm not really good at detecting good acting. The other thing I know her from is that she was a guest voice actor for My Little Pony, essentially playing Juliet. She does a pretty good job I feel with the role, I especially like her performance in her song. Both of them are pretty radically different from her role in The Magicians, although she was definitely playing an already written character that she got the role for in those cases rather then someone that was written for her.

If anyone's interested in the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB3DLrdGKs4

Alice has always been my least-favorite of the main characters and it's obnoxious how frequently she ends up backstabbing everyone else and yet she still gets to hang around with them. Like they knew that she was doing shady crap with the Library and other stuff why did they even bring her along? And although I'm exited to see what they do with resetting the characters (this should hopefully fix the whole Penny 2.0 problem) I really wish that after all they've been through they would have let them end on a win rather then throwing them another curveball and have to essentially fix the world again. And yeah as other said this could have really benefited from being longer then 44 minutes.

that was some ending, but yes, a two-parter would have been perfect, it feels so rushed, but it was still a good episode, the poor Queen Fairy, it's going to be a long wait for next year

Not the most satisfying finale, but a nice set up for the next season which I'm really looking forward to.

On to The Expanse now...

I loved how meta this season was through and through.

"How long will this quest take?"
"oh, probably a good season"

The constant calling out of 'lazy plotting' or characters acknowledging scene breaks, etc.. The fourth wall playing tickles my fancy.

The Musical episode was hilarious.

The time-in-a-bottle episode was really well done, too.

I feel like Season 4 is very much entering LOST Season 6 territory, flash-sideways, characters not knowing who they or each other are, should be interesting.

As for the finale and Penny23.. does that mean Penny40 is just.. gone now? It was mentioned that he 'replaced' him.. but seems like a weird cop-out of a storyline?

Man, that last episode was a punch in the gut.

I don't understand why Fogg agreed to the rationing as a deal to help the library. He essentially gave them the location of the backdoor when he had his school back and was on the verge of having unfettered access to magic again.

I was really hoping Julia would also end up being a Q like character that pops in every few episodes for some completely bonkers side-quest shit. I don't think her spark is gone so much as it is dormant (like Prometheus was) hopefully she recovers it during Season 4.

The body snatcher is going to be interesting. Everyone is going to get a turn being super-evil this time around.

Are we ever going to hear from Penny 41 (40) again?

I wonder if anyone harming Margo would violate the pact the fairy queen made with the library since Margo's eye technically makes her part fairy.

The showrunners' stance on Penny Prime is "we have two Pennys in our timeline now and the story will not forget that". Presumably he'll be part of the group that helps bring everyone back, especially once he finds out Kady's been mindwiped and is dealing drugs.

I wonder if the Fairy Eye in Margo will help her awaken.

i'm expecting all the awakening plots to be damn hilarious.

Margo sees weird shit through fairy eye

Kady gets her hands on fairy bone powder, thinks it's coke, tries it, wonders wtf that was cut with

Quentin is a monster's BFF whether he likes it or not

josh runs into dionysus at a party

And then travelers are like magical creatures right? so presumably penny 23 accidentally teleports somehow.

I guess if julia's plot is just "goddess spark wakes up slowly after being dormant for a bit that'll be a normal story instead of a silly one, though.

Why wouldn't Alice start telling everyone about the Monster still being alive once they were altogether again? She piped up once when they dragged her away.

Is Julia working at the same architect firm as Calypso? Maybe once she finds out that the monster escaped, she'll kinda awaken Julia.

Man, I do not like amnesia subplots. They're essentially new characters until they get their memories back.

Agreed. That's a pretty huge plot hole. Even if Fogg made the deal before his eyes got fixed and he was desperate, it doesn't add up. The library's plan always relied on them to bring back magic. That means everyone trusted them to succeed. Why would Fogg fuck up his best way of getting magic?? Maybe the library had something over him - but idk what it could be, he didn't use any of the bone powder from them. Or maybe Fogg really believed the library that rationing magic was the best thing, because of people using it to fuck up magic for everyone (like killing Ember and Umber), and bad dudes.

At least we are set up for season 4; deal with the released monster, go back to the upside down to destroy the siphon, fairy retribution, etc. The cliffhanger left us with Fogg set up to betray the library and probably start bringing back the squad in the first episode. Projecting Penny can still talk to them in their sleep. Hopefully they won't linger too long on the subplots to bring them up to speed, as the finale suggested a decent passage of time already.

After that stellar season, I wasn't too impressed with the rushed ending episode. The pacing was poor and the episode had no real room to breathe.
Oh well, S4 is going to be epic (hopefully).
