Make the Switch hype!
no money hype ;_;

What are the chances Octopath comes to PS4?
This is a good question. SE mentioned releasing more stuff to the Switch but never said anything about exclusivity. And there is the whole hybrid thing - a good amount (most?) of SE's handheld offerings end up being exclusives (FFTA(2), Revenant Wings, DQMonsters, Rocket Slime, multiple Mana games, Egg Monster Hero, Crisis Core, Front Mission 2089, Sigma Harmonics, both Nanashi no Game, Blood of Bahamut, 4WoL/Bravely, multiple remakes, Lord of Arcana/Apocalypse... you get the idea). Will the same happen with SE Switch games, specially the ones not aiming to be million sellers?

(speaking broadly here, not only about octopath)

My gut feeling is it'll be a Switch exclusive unless it sells terribly. Which seems unlikely.

Regarding review scores being negatively impacted by things you don't think are a problem, as with Ratchet and Clank: I've never played a single Ratchet and Clank game so for me Huber's complaint just didn't apply. But that's exactly how I thought of it when watching his review, that may be a problem for some, but not for me... and that's that. People get too hung up on the score.

Some really good suggestions for E3 in the Patreon post, hopefully the allies take some of them into account.

Also, irks me when people don't read the group stream night criteria. Kyle pretty much states why Box Peek tournament wouldn't work for a stream, yet one of the first comments you see is "BOX PEEK TOURNEY".

Aaaand suddenly I've got another game on my wishlist. Great video, Blood. I do agree with issa that the thumbnail doesn't stand out enough though.

What are the chances Octopath comes to PS4?

Also, glad EZA is looking to their Patrons for E3 suggestions. Hopefully this one is a banger. 2017 was kinda mehh for me.
I'd consider it possible but unlikely. It is Square Enix's game and they've been very multiplatform friendly recently (unless you only own a Xbox) but Nintendo are helping out a lot with the marketing, so it's at the very least timed exclusive.

God of War 3 is such an amazing looking game. The lighting is pretty incredible.

I'm glad Huber did a full franchise playthrough. He's a great solo streamer and and fantastic with one other person like Brad, Kyle, or Ben. It's gotten me really in the mood for April 20th.

Watching the Community Showcase has really got me enthused to contribute! Hopefully going to be doing a short series of videos for the Community Showcase in the next few months once I've graduated, partially inspired by Kyle & Ben's reaction to the Zeebo.

Gotta say, I not a big fan of the black and white tumbnails. They always passes unnoticed by me at a first look in the recommended list. I'll just realize it was a new episode of the podcast after a while. I understand that is to make the text more readable in the image, but i don't think it needs text in the thumbnail tbh. Just make an image that communicates the most appealing topics covered. GI Show does this very well imo.

Curious as to why Damiani is streaming Mario 64 again, as opposed to Brad who also brought it to the HoG when it was inducted and doesn't already have a full playthrough up on Easy Allies Plays. Seems kinda weird and redundant, but maybe he has something new planned.

There are a few reasons I can think of, like Brad not having access to a N64 and Damiani just knowing that game very well and really loving that game. It can also be because of time constraints for Brad.
But those are just some guesses. That said, I honestly don't see a problem with Damiani streaming that game instead of Brad.

I'm curious as to why Kyle is gonna stream the PS1 version of Chamber of Secrets, when there's a PS2 version that exists. Did he explain why anywhere?

Also, new Game Sleuth set for May. *eyesemoji*

Makes sense, but in terms of content for the Allies, Damiani streaming the same game twice feels kinda like a waste of time. I know the rule states he has to do it, but it seems strange.

Maybe what might make that rule more interesting is if they have to stream it with someone who didn't vote for it. Sort of like a Prove It or whatever that one thing Damiani did with Kyle was called for Link to the Past.

But, I know he loves the game and it is always fun to see him pull of crazy moves while playing, so why am I complaining. I'll still watch.

Got my EZA t-shirts from Fangamer but they are way too big. Sizes are all over the place from there. Sometimes stuff is way too small or too big in the same size.

The t-shirts are sweet though.

I don't know, man. It's a slippery slope. If Don ever gets a game in, I'm gonna need that Don stream.

Didn't both Damiani and Brad bring 64 that time? So either one of them streaming it should work.

The actual weird part is we're supposed to get MGS and Super Metroid, Mario 64 shouldn't be up for a stream for another couple months.

Yeah, either can stream it to count. I didn't realize they would retroactively apply that "must play within a year" rule to previous games, but okay. Can't complain.

Also have to wonder if they're saving MGS for Easy Livin' since that's been brought up before as a possible full-playthrough.

Weird they're going out of order. Super Metroid was just streamed. Fingers crossed they're saving MGS for Easy Livin'.

Not good to hear that as I wasn't sure which size to order and I ordered the bigger one of the two (by trying to check the sizing info, although that wasn't clear at all). It also doesn't help that it seems on the website that both shirts are printed on different types of shirts.

The shirts I have from spreadshirt are also on the bigger side (that is 2 of the 3 I ordered are, the other one isn't although it's the same size), but it's weird as I have had shirts from the same make which were completely different in actual size (and a big difference as well), so I usually go for the bigger size as I don't like my clothes to be tight fitting, but that means I have quite some shirts which are somewhat too big.

I only was able to order 1 of the 2 shirts (as the Love & Respect shirt wasn't available in the size I wanted to order it in). I guess I will know for sure when the other one arrives, but I suspect it will be too big then.

Update out on Patreon regarding the dip below $40K.

They'll be holding some sort of stream/event later this month to discuss new goals and Patreon tiers:

In April, as E3 steadily approaches, it's time to shift efforts toward improving the production value of our shows/streams and finally evolving our Patreon tiers. You'll get more details this month with an event we've been planning since the start of the year, along with a new slate of goals that will reshape what the future of Easy Allies looks like.

just a thought. maybe patreon goals in general arent as motivating as rewards.

they should consider just going the netflix route. keep producing all the content but make us pay for it. get early access to friendcode, frametrap, etc after the $10 tier. give something tanglible for the 5000 patrons that are on $5 or less to up their pledge. works on the individual. rather than the entire audience coming together to hit 40,000 etc. as an individual i feel powerless to hit big group goals. and i also feel like its pointless to pay for a tier like the reaction shots one when the reward relies on the bigger goal. if they were still doing the reaction shots show and friend code, i'd be more inclined to increase my pledge.

When they say "evolving our Patreon tiers" does that mean the reward tiers or the goals? Kinda sounds like reward tiers which could be kinda like you're saying.

For anyone curious, here's Brandon's entire post on Patreon:
April Update
Greetings, allies!

As you may have noticed, we dropped just below $40K for the month of April. This means we won't be producing Reaction Shots or Friend Code until May at the earliest, and that depends on staying above the $40K goal when this month is over. It's unfortunate that we have to step away from these shows for a bit, but that's how Patreon works.

We've had dips before, and if we'd filled one more podcast sponsorship these podcasts would still be in business, but it's still a good time to re-evaluate our goals. Patreon lets you vote with your dollars, and our patrons have made it clear that the goals we have in place are not going to get us where we want to be.

Each month is a new opportunity to put the resources we receive into improving Easy Allies. March was focused on our anniversary events, expanding our games coverage with Checkin' Out highlight streams, and focusing more on scripted content like Box Peek, The Busted Trifecta, and more frequent episodes of Don't Skip.

Team morale is high. We hit 150K subs on YouTube, and our favorite time of year is just weeks away. We realize we're going to have to work extra hard to take this successful Patreon to the next level, and we're grateful for the opportunity. Your support continues to inspire us, regardless of the amount. This post is also a great opportunity to hear what you want out of new goals, rewards, shows and more.

Thank you, and stay tuned!

- Brandon
That all sounds good to me. Also, in addition to new goals, I hope that they're thinking of ways to incentivize people to subscribe to the $1 and $5 tiers. There's getting stuff early and being able to vote on things, but I think having more ::Bosman voice:: exclusive Patreon content would be good. There is Cup of Jones, but it's 2 hours long and not easily consumable, and plus Jones has never released an episode publicly so anyone not on Patreon has no idea what it's like. Maybe something like short, behind-the-scenes videos (recorded on their phones and put on Youtube) would work?

Update out on Patreon regarding the dip below $40K.

They'll be holding some sort of stream/event later this month to discuss new goals and Patreon tiers:

Glad they are shaking up Patreon tiers.

What I would change.

1. Reaction shots- because its just this nebulous movie podcast where they talk about general themes, and not about a specific movie. I'd be more inclined to tune in.

2. Tabletop- This has never seemed like it's been big on EZA. I just don't think the audience is really there. Like, they get together for 4 hours a month. Theres gotta be something else 5 allies can do that is more appealing to a wider audience. It just seems like a huge time investment and doesn't seem to be paying off, and we are 2 years in at this point.

3. Trailer Jones- Do popular trailers. Trailers people want to see. I get it. Some trailer won some award in France. That is not going to get people to watch. I was looking back at Trailer Jones. Those trailers were a bad selection. I'll say it straight up. If a popular trailer for a game isn't out, GO BACK TO OLD TRAILERS. Honestly. It's not like trailers expire. Metal Gear Solid 5 had some awesome trailers. Score those. There is so much stuff. But do stuff people want to see. Make it a Patreon post and ask people for submissions. Like, this stuff is so easy, it hurts.

4. Top 10- I know, I know. But honestly, you wanna grow your channel? Get more viewers? Not saying once a week. But once a month. Don't tell me that NINE PEOPLE can't do a top 10 once a month.

5. Bi-weekly game reactions- Ok, this one is gonna be tough, but it's your most popular stuff. This one is a long shot but I'm just gonna put it out there. Could be crazy and don't expect it to actually work or be feasible. Have allies NOT watch new game footage. New Spiderman trailer? Don't watch it. New GOW footage? Same, don't watch. Then once a week, record the allies (as many as you can), watch a bunch in a row for the first time and react to it. Game reactions seem huge on youtube, and EZA's most popular stuff are reactions. But they only happen are certain times of the year. But new game trailers are dropping every week. Lots of views going to waste.

Now, these are my OWN PERSONAL OPINIONS based on what I enjoy of EZA. If you like reaction shots, more power to you.

Keep Tabletop and kill Trailer Jones at the tier it's at is what I'd do from your list.

I would also be down for Jay's suggestion:

A Behind the Scenes video of the upcoming E3 Betting Special would be great.

I find it hard to agree with this for a couple of reasons.

1. 4 hours a month is honestly so little. I mean there's five of them so maybe it adds up but in the grand scheme of stuff they could cut (which should be kept to a minimum for a whole bunch of separate reasons) it's on the low end of time management.
2. Since they started Easy Allies they've made it clear they don't want to be as beholden to pure view numbers as they were with Game Trailers. They all have experience in both ways of doing things and it's clear they prefer this way.
3. It's tied to a current, high earning Patreon tier that wouldn't work as well without a show.
4. It's obvious that the allies that play (over half of them) have an INSANE amount of fun doing it. Almost to the point where I'd say they'd still do it to a lesser degree if the show was pulled.

If we're throwing out random suggestions, I'd say my #1 would be a short, every other week or monthly editorial show.

I wouldn't prescribe any specific format (anything from Final Bosman to Ben's ode to demo discs could work, IMO), but I think EZA has more than enough guys with editorial chops to put out a regular series on... whatever the gaming-related hot topic on someone's mind is for that month.

I can't claim that would have a huge impact on the "brand", though. I think if the goal is $50k, this isn't a bad thought:

TTE has a very passionate and loyal segment of the EZA community. It's the stuff that Works because they're a patreon. It's not a large effort show (it takes up as much effort as the Gundam streams, 4 hours a month) and I would not judge it's impact on viewership alone. I've consumed it every week but I do it via their rss audio feed. I hardly ever click on the YouTube videos for it.

If you solely just try to hunt for views you can easily have that backfire and start to loose what makes EZA...EZA. Being patreon funded has its limitations but it also has its freedoms to do things that appeal to dedicated smaller fanbases.

Also I'll be real interested to see if all the people who are clamoring for the shorter/produced videos if they'll essentially put their money where their mouth is. They've started to do that more this month, let's see if it starts to translate into something.

Ramp up the production of seasonal content. Preoproduce ten episodes of a given thing, promote it in advance (well in advance, say beginning of the year during the Anniversary, also gives you time to prepare and work on it) and drop it weekly at a hard time, drop each episode a week early on Patreon for 10$ and up. Box Peak is kinda like that of course, but to make it a "thing" tone down scope, probably, maybe, dunno. :D

Ten episodes Reaction Shots.
Ten episodes Damiani Pranks Confused Toddlers
Ten episodes Trailer Jones
Ten episodes Box Peak.
Ten episodes Big Ben Bonus Bits
Ten episodes Bosman and Huber Review MacGyver Episodes
Ten episodes... *snooze*

This is super-copying Kinda Funny, but since they changed up their show line-up and release shedule, you really noticed.

This is something they should really consider. Once a month 1 to 3 allies that aren't all that busy could make a list and get the viewers in

More views. More people. More money. Doit.gif

Box Peek is a great start in the short content category but they need something with a more stable timetable
