Horizon did the same thing. I love the 1st party steelbooks so it's really infuriating to see them locked behind the $130+ editions in America.
At least we got the SotC steelbook for only $10 more, which was awesome.
I agree, not a fan when they do that. I'm a sucker for steelbooks so I pre-ordered but why don't they just release a $79.99 version that includes the steelbook as well.

Hell, I'd pay $90 depending on the game and if it came with a mini artbook or something. I don't have room for statues (plus I think most of the ones in the CEs are kinda crummy) so paying $130+ just to get a steelbook is obviously untenable. I can justify the space for steelbooks and artbooks.
Really, the best was TLoU last gen, when it was $100, but you got the full artbook + steelbook+ season pass.

If it weren't for copyright issues, I think it'd be pretty cool to make custom steelbooks for people. Apparently blank steelbooks aren't easy to come by either.
Yeah, the SotC steelbook was awesome, I'm glad they did that but I'm wondering if that was because it was a remake and they didn't have a CE to push as well.
I'm already getting the God of War CE just for the steelbook, so I'm not sure I can afford also getting the CE for Spider-Man as well. On the other hand, God of War and Spider-Man are my only future planned purchases for gaming in 2018 right now, so I may reserve a copy now and switch to regular closer to if money's tight. I really don't have room for all these dumb statues though.
I really wish they would stop including trash figures in all of these collectors editions. That or also offer a deluxe edition with steelbook and other goodies like like SotC or No Mans Sky.
I thought you guys meant the special edition, which I think looks ugly and flat. I think the character version with the logo looks great, but ayyyyyy.

It sounds like a paid season pass that you get included if you buy deluxe, much like how Uncharted 4 digital deluxe included the paid DLC in its Deluxe preorder
Hmmm, might wait for Complete Edition. If the main game is hot then yeah, I'll consider early purchasing. What we've seen so far just doesn't seem that...amazing. But in any case, new info drops 'n all, so that'll help change my mind!

No LE PS4? They could've had an excuse to be cute and put the old PS3 Spider-Man font all over it.
The goal of the box art was to be bold and show off the game's Spider-Man and suit. We'll have lots of other art (like the Alex Ross cover).
Also the statue is so cool - but it's a spoilery so we can't reveal it just yet :) It's also from Gentle Giant and super rad.

Pre-Ordered the Collectors Edition once I was able to, looks sweet. I am disappointed in the new trend where Europe will get a special edition that looks pretty dang sweet, but we don't get one in the US. Same thing happened with God of War and that's the reason I am going with the standard edition for that one.
I'm not sure we've said. I'm being careful about what I say given the story-stuff contained underneath Spider-Man that we are hiding.
It's a substantial statue though :)
