I'd recommend Rimworld for management. I think you'd like that one. The dynamic relationships between colonists and how things can spiral out of control due to their personalities and mental states makes for awesome emergent stories

If you want something insane with management, you should consider Factorio - its like cocaine and pure genius.

They're also close to leaving Early access - so the price will be going up mid April from $20 to $30.

Indie Era, i need some recommendations. I am moving to London and cant bring my PS4 so my intention is to bring my laptop (Intel HD 4000, i7, 8gb ram = a good toaster) with Steam on it and a lot of awesome indie games (my favorite)

Now i will write a list of the things i have and like the most to give you an idea of my tastes:

Hollow Knight
Celeste
Iconoclasts
SteamWorld Dig 2
Ori and the Blind Forest
Enviromental Station Alpha
Cuphead (not lookig for more of this type)
Owlboy
Into the Breach (not looking for more of this type)
Cave Story +
Enter the Gungeon (not looking for more...)

So im looking for something as epic as these games

Any suggestion?
Since you seem to really like metroidvanias and want something "epic", allow me to suggest my favorite video game: La-Mulana. It is not inspired by Metroid nor Symphony of the Night, but instead has its roots in the MSX game, Knightmare II: The Maze of Galious. La-Mulana expects a lot of you both in terms of puzzle-solving and platforming execution, and provides the best sense of raw adventure, discovery, and triumph of any game I've played.

I took a deep look at Factorio, RimWorld, LaMulana, Oxygen Not Included and Astroneer and i dont know. They look good but im not really in the mood right now. Also tried some of the games i already had and... i think im happy with the games i have ready to take with me to London. I hope they help me unmiss my PS4 while im there.

So my want to play Steam collection looks like this:

Hollow Kinight
Ori and the Blind Forest
Enviromental Station Alpha
Owlboy
Octohedron
Into the Breach
Celeste
Cuphead
Enter the Gungeon

I think i have enough. In my opinion is an awesome list.

Add Synthetik to that list. :)

That looks amazing! Read some reviews and watched some gameplay and looks and feels gorgeous. Will probably buy it when i get home. I was thinking of adding Tumbleseed and Snakebird since i have no puzzle games and need at least 1.

Any good indie puzzle game worth it or better than Snakebird?

Also... why no Steam reviews yet? Octohedron released at a later date and has a decent lot of reviews by now and Synthetik has none

Gorogoa for sure.
You solve puzzles by using the power of perspective. However it is so well done which you will fall in love with it.

Every game mentioned has Steam reviews so I'm not sure which one you're referring to. If your language settings are set to something other than English than it's probably filtering to only show reviews in that language so maybe you're not seeing any due to that but there's hundreds of reviews for Snakebird and SYNTHETIK for example.

And I'd suggest checking out a Zachtronics game if you're into that style of puzzle. Here's a pack of four of his games: http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/2925/The_Zachtronics_Puzzle_Pack/

And here's his most recent release:

Lastly, if you are into trying out a programming game but want something that's a little more user friendly check out Human Resource Machine:

Oh, and another game style that's puzzle-y but is a bit different is something in the simulated hacking subgenre. Check out Hacknet: http://store.steampowered.com/app/365450/Hacknet/

To be honest, they are a bit special. They are some of those "programming" puzzles games, together with Shenzen I/O, TIS-100 and others. Human Resource Machine is available on mobile as well and really worth a suggestion. Zachtronic games are really not so easy to understand but highly rewarding.

Human Resource Machine is a great litmus test to see if you enjoy those kind of puzzles. If HRM doesn't do anything for you, then I wouldn't explore the other games.

Added you btw!

Yeah, I probably should have swapped those suggestions with Human Resource Machine mentioned first. It's definitely friendlier and doesn't feel nearly as overwhelming. That doesn't mean its later (or optional) levels don't get really tough but it does a great job easing you into it and keeping it a more fun experience. Can't wait for their next game.

I'd also say even then the Zachtronics games are a different beast. Typically they'll have big difficulty spikes and can really throw you in the dark, where as HRM is a lot more gradual and consistent in its difficulty curve and gives you helpful stuff to work with at the start of each puzzle (if I remember correctly). Also HRM can take like 5-6 hours to beat where as a single late game Zachtronics puzzle can take that much to solve.

The newer Zachtronics stuff has gotten better about that though, at least from what I've played of Shenzen and heard of Opus Magnum.

Fritz Chess 16 Steam Edition - $49.99 (currently $44.99) (PC)
giphy.gif

When is chess the most enjoyable? When you win! When Fritz entered his first tournaments some 25 years ago, humans still had a real chance of taking the engine down. Only a few years down the line, Fritz was already beating grandmasters left, right and center, but ever since his 4:2 victory over Kramnik in 2006, Fritz has been considered unbeatable. Who would want to play against him? In the case of Fritz 16, however, playing against an engine is now once again the very definition of fun! A host of features, including "Assisted Analysis", which gives you discreet visual hints as you move, and emoticons, which show Fritz's mood, are there to help you. Even with little knowledge of chess, you can enjoy many an exciting game, and more importantly, victory, against Fritz. If things don't work out, Fritz 16 shows you the combinations you might have missed directly after the game with the handy "Tactical Analysis" function, or you can dive right into "Easy Play" calculation training to hone your skills. Fritz doesn't come up short when it comes to playing strength either: the new multiprocessor engine was developed by star programmer Vas Rajlich ("Rybka") and is up there with the global elite.

A Divided Light - $4.99 (PC)
giphy.gif

Divided Light is a 3D puzzle-platformer where you use light to change your world. Navigate a deep space landscape using thoughtful combinations of light sources and colors to alter the environment and solve puzzles.

Holy molly Minit looks great

I loaded up and gave it a try, and it doesn't seem to work either way. Really annoying, since I'm not expecting the dev to bother updating the game anymore :/

I tried as well but nothing. Same as you. Thanks for confirming it :)

But good news, i asked the developer and he told me to write Raw Fury support (gave me an email) and they will see how to fix it. So theres hope

Here is a new launch for PC to add it to the list if is possible ;). Its actually my own game which I launched on Wii U in 2016, but now I made a version that is adapted to PC (the game had a lot of features of the Wii U GamePad, so it changes the gameplay in many parts of the game). The name for the PC version is 3Souls Parallel Edition (for itch.io and also through the Humble tool)

I also created a online demo for people to try: 3souls.redcolumn.com/demo

And I launched as "Pay what you want" method, so all people interested can play the game :).

Here is the link to the site: 3Souls.RedColumn.com/parallel-edition

Just finished SteamWorld Dig 2 (on Switch) and loved it. Explorative, fun and short (took 6 hours to beat).

Will play the first game for sure as well. Does anyone have any recommendations for other games that I might like?

I have all consoles and handhelds, but no PC please.

As we now have SweetSarks thread for upcoming Indie Games, I will leave out that part from Aprils OP. If you have some feedback regarding that or miss that part, let me know. I do think its a bit pointless to have such similar bits of info in two threads of the same forum, so I will just link SweetSarks thread in the meantime.

On the plus side, it might make my OP posts a bit more digestible by cutting down gif/image count by 50%.

Looking forward to it.

I know I might a bit late on this one, but I was a bit worried Into the Breach might be a bit too simplistic, but its actually pretty darn amazing. Anybody need want to hear a more elaborate opinion or has everybody already bought and played it anyway?

Into the Breach is brilliant. Takes away much of the RNG and allows players to determine how hard they want the game to be. Many viable builds, unlike what it takes to beat FTL. There is no Engi B in Into the Breach, lol.

Also, I really hate that this is going to become a mega thread. I was confused when I scrolled down and saw posts about Forged Battalion and other January games.

/rant

"Megathread" with 14 pages. :P
It actually allows for consistency in the discussions, people are much more active when the discussions arent disrupted every 3 pages, so thats a huge plus for me. Plus people get informed about the new thread via the changed thread name in their thread highlight list. I mean if you notice the thread name changed, you can probably just scroll to the last page of the thread and see the posts related to the new games, but feel free to rant all you want. ;)

The part I didnt expect and that makes it that good is how variable the map situations can be by just adding one mechanic into the mix, like tanks that activate after a few rounds, air strikes etc. Really keeps you on your toes and makes you think through every level from scratch instead of relying on well working tactics.

Is this a bad time to shamelessly plug squirrelwide 's Into the Breach review?

http://notablereleases.com/post/into-the-breach-review/

But I am left wondering how a bunch of time traveling mechs need to operate near an antiquated power grid. Or how the head of corporate office running said antiquated grid doesn't believe the whole "time travel thing" when a bunch of otherwise advanced mechs pop up out of nowhere. But like the cantankerous Jessica Kern, I was willing to ignore my incredulity and minor quibbles to get down to the sweet squishy business of eradicating the Vek.

I saw someone mention Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles in passing above so I'm tossing 3 keys into a giveaway here with GiftBot! :) Good luck!

Edit: That feeling when you think GiftBot might be down...

Just a quick heads up, that giftbot giveaways rarely land in the hands of the community, who would directly participate in the threads you want to target. I applaud you for your generosity, but its usually easier to ask here who'd be willing to check out the game and write a word or two, not that I need to the be one to do that, because I dont get to play enough these days anyway. :P

Your game released in April, so it would be included next month ;) If Kode throws me a nice OP sized gif, I can squeeze it in today/tomorrow.

Whoops, I didn't know that about GiftBot. I assumed that was the best way to get it into folks who were interested here. Well, assuming he shows up sometime the keys will still be up for grabs.

But we can also do it this way. Next 3 people to quote me can also have a copy of Chapter 1 of Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles. Don't feel compelled to write up anything (although it's appreciated if you do). It's just a fun giveaway for someone who wants to play some survival horror and I hope anyone who wins it enjoys it. :)
