£180 at Currys at the mo with manual shifter included but that's a load of rubbish. Argos still selling it at over £300

The mods you can buy work really well with it. Its pretty much useless in GT anyway but for other games that take advantage its really good once modded. Also the peddle mods drastically improve them.

How much does one of these wheels cost?

Yep decent price at Currys at the moment.

I bid on one with a Playseat Challenge yesterday and collected last night, £215 for the lot (retail about £350), all boxed and barely used. The guy had only used it a few times but is moving to a smaller flat so had to sell up. Already have a G29 and WheelStandPro so will either hold those for spares or sell on.

Finding Trail braking difficult with my size 12 boats. I noticed Old git drivimg in socks and the bloke on top gear bare foot as well. I have a pair of slip on trainers I use solely for driving games anyone else barefoot or socks?

I actually followed that after you mentioned it on here but it was about 90 miles from me and wouldn't fit in the motor. The assistant at Currys tried to give me the Xbox Variant of the wheel I wouldn't have been happy if I got it home and hadn't noticed

Yeah I had two on watch, that Playseat one which I won and made more sense due to the compact nature of that big Omega Rig with the T500 but that went at £374 so a bit too much for me right now. Tried it out last night and really liked it. Just still need decent weather and free time to get my cabin sorted. Away for a break this weekend so that's another two days wasted not on it!

BTW socks!

I use spikeless track racing flats (I also use these for real racing as well as I think they are better than real racing boots). My pedal mods make using bare feet or socks impossible unless you like pain.

Good stuff. Definitely see if they will fix it for you for free or even at a low cost. That way you can either have one spare or sell the spare one on.

I mean depending on how the morals go......... he has a two year warranty for a wheel now with Logitech, pretty sure they don't know which one came out the new box lol

What're these pedals mods?

Loadcells I imagine

I use all the 3Drap.it pedals mods. Rally/GT one specifically for the brake but also have the F1 somewhere.

I also didn't like the feel of the smooth metal so I bought some new pedals and created a simple mod that you use the standard alan bolts to secure to each pedal then bolt the new pedals to that. That could do with some refinement though as its just rough cut sheet plastic with 6 holes drilled in it.

Also did the silencer mod where you just put a material underneath where the pedals hit the plastic.

I'm thinking I might make a dead pedal next and change the pedal housing.

For the gearbox its the 3drap one with the grooved cover but with two extended bolts so I can chuck a band over it quickly if I want it to work as a sequential gear box.

You must be pissed if a guy with a controller ever beats you ;-) I like the look of those load cells too but I use footwear mainly because the metal finish on the pedals don't feel good with socks

I rarely play competitive racing games that can be played with a pad. GT:S I use a pad myself when it comes to sport mode.

The only mods I did were the peddle replacement, the silencer and the screw extensions. I let a friend who is a massive sim racing nerd borrow my wheel for close to 6 months as his broke and was going through a bad time so couldn't afford to fix his stuff. When I got it back all the rest were done, so much better than what it was.

The brake and the shifter mods are the best. I never used the shifter beforehand as it was horrible.

Mate, I'm size 13... All I can tell you is that your seating position and the distance that the pedals are from you are all important. I also use shoes and I have my pedals set up in the inverted position so its a lot more natural in terms of the motion my feet are making as its pretty much as it would be when driving a real car. This is how I'm set up in the corner of my office/study (my wife tells me I can't officially call it my man cave as its technically just the spare room... Hence I still need a fold-away solution in the Playseat Challenge):

img_20180404_170205rrf2o73.jpg

So i have the seat set up so that the pedals are as far away as possible and the seat is set to one of the lower positions that it allows with the velcro straps. I use an old pair of trainers that have a very thin sole so that I can still get decent pedal feel (even though these pedals aren't the greatest). I just can't do socks or barefoot. It doesn't feel natural to me, my brake pedal is set to a very firm setting with the mod that came with it and my feet would slip off the pedals due to the plates being metal.

So I'd suggest looking into your seating position/solution first and then the footwear/hardware side after.

I have always wore socks when using pedals for racing games, started with plastic pedals so needed that for any kind of sensitivity and just stuck with it.

I'm happy with my footwear, was just curious what everyone else did. The inverted pedals would make a massive difference though and im currently just using a dining room chairs so not ideal but I make it work. Finding a seat that supports my 120 kilo frame and is also portable is a bit of a mission

You can invert the G29 pedals if you don't mind a bit of a DIY project. You have a spare set for some experimentation now!

The Challenge apparently supports up to 122kg

  • Recommended length of the driver: 120 - 220 cm
  • Recommended weight of the driver: 20 - 122 kg
Have to say I'm impressed with how stable it seems.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does the brake pedal mod give you? In what way does it enhance driving?

Also, what's a "dead pedal"?

It basically acts as a foot rest to the left of the pedals. There's always one in automatic cars.

There is usually a dead pedal in every car to prevent people from riding the clutch.

Improved feel. You aren't going to get proper feedback, certainly not getting the ABS gravelly feeling or judder but the amount of resistance required is increased and feels more life like rather than a spring.

If you don't use ABS it makes it much easier to learn how to feel your brake limits.

3 consecutive clean races in sports mode.
Back up from C/B to B/S after a rage quit and an unintentional disconnect. Was supposed to have a quick practice at Brands but sports mode sucked me back in.
Heres a quick 2 lap tussle for a podium finish. Was waiting for him to shove me off when I went for the pass or dive-bomb me when I went I front.

Nice laps. I did Yamagiwa last night as well and was 3rd on the final lap when an asshole A/S driver divebombed me, knocking me out of my line and almost off the track. I was fuming. I don't think they even got a penalty for it.

Apparently the update has been revised so it's 100mb now instead of 24GB. If you're in the middle of downloading, you can cancel it, try again and it should be the 100mb

Is there a solution to the FFB settings not saving?

I don't understand how this game seems to be getting more buggy as time goes on. Its like they want to give PCars some competition :P

I love this game. Feel like as more time passes, the more brilliant I think the game is. And I'm mostly just playing arcade single races tbh.

I do play Sport a lot but I'm not competitive at all. In fact, I mostly start and the end but seem to always work up a few positions. Ive got an S rank in driving friendliness or whatever it's called and the races are so damn smooth. None of that bumper car shit.

This game is sublime.

Even oval racing in great in this game. Got poles and wins on the blue moon bay GR3 endurance daily and it's pretty clean. Undercutting someone with just enough fuel to get to the line is fun.

I'm working on that new Proton Racing livery, since they are now using a RSR. Still trying to figure out the correct shades of grey to use (black levels in decals are a bit skewed)

When I was working on the hood I noticed that those two hood pins are not perfectly symmetrical, just like in the real car (the pin on the right slightly overlaps a triangle, while the other barely touches it). Crazy attention to detail from PD, they could have just mirrored it.

Forgive me for tooting my own horn (kekekekeke), but here is my first livery I've managed to upload. I had the idea of making a bunch of fantasy/original Super GT GT300 liveries based on the Gr. 3 cars and I've been planning them for a long ass time (dating back to around this time last year) and I've finally got around to finishing one of them. There's a bunch more to come, so stay tuned.
