So they are going to strip Conor because he didn't defend his title and then potentially hand the title to Holloway who will then proceed to not defend a title?

Conor gonna try his best to dethrone Mr. Bones for the race to Most Stripped Titles, but there's only one true greatest fuckup of all time (UFC Edition) and Jon's got it in the bag

I honestly like Holloway/Khabib more than Ferguson/Khabib. I just wish Max had more time to properly prepare. Can't wait for this weekend. Feels like forever since an event even though its been barely any time at all. Its also the first great card in a long time after a shit ton of underwhelming Fight Nights. Considering buying last minute tix if I can find a reasonably priced pair.

What a shit show. Now McGregor will have even more bargaining power with Tony out of the picture.

Conor/Khabib in September or Conor/Holloway II in December seems like the timeline depending on how Saturday goes.

UFC will be desperate for a Khabib win.

Ideally, Max has some success...looks dangerous, then Khabib takes him down and does his thing. Leaves enough intrigue about Max's chances at the weight with a full camp and leaves them without the headache of having two divisions clogged up.

Although he wouldn't be beating Conor/Tony I think most people will consider Khabib a credible champion given his run so far.

I'm just looking forward to the Bellator tournament madness.

If Shogun wins his next fight vs Volkan then he has a case for a title shot. Shogun in 2018....in a title fight. This division is literally the worst it's ever been and even worse than today's HW division. There are no new prospects and the old guard keeps beating that ass.

I give him three minutes, then Khabib takes over and gets the finish in round 4.

I'd give him..... Below 5 minutes but more than a minute. Somewhere between 2-3 minutes before Khabib demolishes Max on the ground. Close to a minute of him trying to strike Khabib in every round before Khabib does his thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Khabib did finish Max in the later rounds. Hell, Khabib might even stop Max pretty early on in the fight.

This still wont do as well as Tony vs Khabib, numbers wont be as great imo. Build up is real and this just doesnt have the same stakes behind it whatsoever. Also think this is it for Tony in terms of having any chance of legit pay days and notoriety. Sounds like a pretty bad injury and might not even be back in the octagon until he's 35.

Also if Max goes out there and gets the ever loving piss beat out of him then you kind of royally f*cked his hype train. Doesnt matter if he took the short term higher weight fight, you still have one of your champs going out there getting destroyed which isnt a good look.

Eddie said the ligament Tony tore "off the bone" was his LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament).
With a severe Grade III sprain, the ligament tears completely, causing swelling and sometimes bleeding under the skin. As a result, the joint is unstable and can be difficult to bear weight. You may have a feeling of the knee giving way. Often there will be no pain or severe pain that subsides quickly following a grade 3 tear as all of the pain fibres are torn at the time of injury. With these more severe tears, other structures are at risk of injury including the meniscus and/or ACL.

When a Grade III injury occurs, you usually wear a hinged knee brace for up to six weeks, with a small amount of movement, and use crutches for 1-2 weeks to protect the knee ligament from weight-bearing stresses. As your pain resolves and knee ligament repairing occurs, the knee brace can be gradually unlocked to allow greater knee movement as tolerated. The aim is to allow for full knee ligament healing and gradually return to normal activities. Sever LCL injury is most successfully treated via physiotherapy and the advice of a knee specialist. Patients may not return to their full level of activity for 3 to 4 months. We highly recommend that you seek professional advice from a healthcare practitioner who specialises in knee ligament injuries to avoid long-term knee instability.
So assuming surgery will happen in the next week or two, and assuming the recovery time for fighters is longer than an average person who only need their knees for walking around, Tony may not even be able to train for 6 months.

Athletes have higher demands on their bodies, but OTOH they're in generally better shape and usually more responsive and dedicated to rehabilitation.

Those videos Tony released are without a doubt what got him stripped of the interim belt. You can't ever think kicking a steel pipe is good for your leg. You make have tore it while tripping on a cable at the Fox lot but that knee was already compromised. Tony is a wildman no doubt but can also be a dumbass. Look at those deadlifts with Tony's back all curved. Being a dumbass just cost his family millions of dollars.

What a shit show...

If Khabib smashes Max, 145 takes a bit of a hit.

If Max wins, 155 is all screwed up. Then Conor comes rushing back for the best matchup he's going to get.

Pretty rich that Nate Diaz tweets about others not making war when he has been in a bigger hiatus then Conor.

Been a while since the cancellation and booking of Holloway v Nurmagomedov.

The dial still hasn't moved for me on thinking Khabib merks Max. I've seen people tricking themselves into thinking this is as close to an interesting match up as Tony/Khabib but I think they're way off base on that. Under normal circumstances, with a full camp, sure; it could be a great matchup but I think Max is way in over his head with this decision; he's got a little bit swept up in his own hype here, I feel.
Max must not have been training full bore in recent weeks; literally pulled out of a fight last month. As previously mentioned, Max has never really been tested against an elite wrestler. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig fucking chasm between Lamas and Khabib. Also, Khabib literally just beat a rangey striker in Edson Barboza; he'll be ready for Max's gameplan unless somehow Khabib is still too focused about his Tony gameplan.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if Max was even competitive in this fight but I think it's too much, too soon.
Still looking forward to the card as the card as a whole is pretty good from top to bottom. Also, lol @ Lobov being on the Fight Pass.

It is what it is.

Honestly it sounds like Tony's cuicui's started shrinking ever since he saw what khabib did to barbosa. iirc tony had to fight pretty ugly, borderline cheating, to win that fight. think it happened with micheal johnson as well IIRC. he knows if khabib gets him to the ground the same thing is going to happen. Tripped over studio cables? hm ok. also eddie bravo is starting to sound like my 75 yr old demented patients

Max has been training to fight Edgar though before his injury so he has been training for a wrestler.

I still can't see this being very close. Max also doesn't really have major power at featherweight so he would need to gradually beat down Khabib over a few rounds and that's not a small task.

The risk is well worth it for Max. He loses, he's still featherweight champ. He wins, he's on top of the world, and first in line for the red panty night.
