Rumor: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is SP only, not developed by Raven Software

Well for starters BO4 is a Treyarch game and MW2 was from IW.
I don't see them doing that.
Secondly it literally makes zero sense, it would make sense next year for the 10th anniversary which funnily enough is an IW year.
Maybe BO4 doesn't have a SP (forget what you know and all) and MW2 is an appeasement for that, doubtful but who knows.
But I would be very surprised if it wasn't bundled with BO4.
So it's basically *100%* confirmed at this point that MW2R will be off-line only, right?

The Modern Warfare trilogy had the three best campaigns in the series. I enjoyed playing through Modern Warfare again, and I would enjoy playing through Modern Warfare 2 again. But not including the multiplayer is madness.
Actually nothing is confirmed from this release. It all started from a random store showing this in stock next month, then the internet created the rest of the hype.
Wholly unnecessary. Black Ops is easily the biggest subseries in the Call of Duty franchise, and Modern Warfare 2 Remastered (with multiplayer) would sell gangbusters on its own. I don't really see the business strategy in bundling them.
It makes more sense to pair it with InfinityWard's next offering, being as their reputation was further dragged through the mud for toppling the over-stacked Jenga tower that was futuristic-settings and advanced-movement, plus the bumpy launch of Infinite Warfare (bumpy pre-launch even. Game never fully recovered from the rather unwarranted dogpile it got upon its reveal).
There's still no evidence the game even exists. Following the call of duty subreddit the past week has been enjoyable as each day they come up with a new theory on why it will be announced on that day.

Although it's just rumors, if CharlieIntel, Eurogamer and Jason Schreier all say that the game is SP only (and thus exists) I don't see a reason to doubt the game's existence. It however also wouldn't surprise me if the SP only release has been canceled because of the insane amount of negative feedback.
The first two Modern Warfare campaigns are awesome, so to answer your question - me.

I saw a clip of the Activision stream, dude is literally sitting on a couch with the MW2 NVGs and base directly sitting there on the couch next to him. It looks ridiculous.
This makes the most sense to me right now in light of all that's transpired. That said, if it is true, I have no idea what they hell they were smoking to think that a campaign only release would have been a good idea for Modern Warfare 2 of all games.
Modern Warfare 2 will always be my favorite Call of Duty.I also consider it as one of the best FPS games ever made.
Technically maybe it's showing its age except for god tier lighting quality but aesthetically I think it's still the best looking and feeling CoD game.
While not getting MW2R hurts my feelings I can understand why as you know they're going to release 3 more DLC packs for WWII and Black Ops 4 is coming in October.A proper Modern Warfare 2 Remastered would instantly kill WWII (one of the most low budget feeling CoD ever made IMO.) and it will definitely hurt Black Ops 4's pre-orders if not it's sales.They released 8 different Call of Duty game after MW2 and they still couldn't manage the surpass some of MW2's aspects.

Until it comes from activision themselves and show blunt proof this is all hog wash.

The IQ wasn't that clean, nor the resolution that high, but the rest is pretty comparable. MW2 was a solid step up for the series, visually, thanks largely to the new lighting system. Ended up looking better than Black Ops a year later.
Even for the time i remember Black Ops 1 looking noticeably worse the very next year. MW2 put to shame so many major releases for the time.
Man, the most fun I've ever had in COD when we I used to go Commando on Rust and just knife the shit out of everyone. I think I still have some hate PMs that I got afterwards. Favela was also fun.

It really did look awful, but damn it was such a good game.
Maybe even the best CoD, but there was something about how great MW2 looked. Even just the weapon and character designs were extremely appealing in Infinity Ward games. On top of it all, the frame rate was insane. MW2 deserves a remake, and i hope they dont fuck it up. Even if it just had the singleplayer and Spec Ops id be fine.
I played the game everyday with friends irl in my teens the rust private battles were awesome and the best.

What would the alternative be?
Do you really want them to sell you another remastered MP mode of a game from 10 years ago (which still has active servers) in addition to the newer COD games, splitting the fan base even further?
Updating MW Remastered Online and releasing MW2 SP makes a lot more sense.

MWR came with Infinite and wasn't sold separately till last summer with WW2 coming up.
I really can't wait for this. One of my favorite campaign experiences ever.

1. I don't care if it steals people from WW2 or BO4.
WW2 is terrible. BO4 will be different so I would appreciate the contrast.
2. MW2 isn't playable on PS4.
3. MW2 is hacked to hell or nearly unplayable just from One Man Army,

Personally I don't think that would happen but, that could be a potential problem. Another could be related to the Zampella and West lawsuit with the old IW devs from way back when in some odd form.

To be fair, Activision owns all the cod devs and can do whatever they please. Cod4 remastered wasn't made by IW.
That being said, it makes no sense to me that MW2 would release this year before waw(as you said, 10 year anniversary) but ultimately that's Activision's decision.
That doesn't explain why a new release is necessary over updating MW Remastered with MW2 content.
Also consider that online players would be split btwn WW2, BO4, Infinite, MW:R, and then this MW2:Remastered in a span of 2 years.

Man, Ghosts was awful! Modern Warfare 2 was a phenomenon where Ghosts kinda killed the series for me.

What? Yuck. MW2 is more than just new maps and weapons. I honestly hate playing MWR multiplayer.
IW has been on the way out for a long time, and MWR isn't far behind. These games were never been made to last. That being said, Call of Duty has an insanely large playerbase, and you can still find games for any title in the series. Last year I was able to play MW2 (hacked to hell in most cases, but with normal games here and there) on PS3, well before this rumor craze drove up new desire for it. They can afford an absurd number of playerbase splits, and as long as Activision is making good money, I don't think they very much care which games are still being played.
It's fine if you have no interest in MW2's multiplayer, but releasing the remake without it or trying to squish the content into MWR's framework is a far stupider idea. The large majority of potential buyers want the multiplayer. I don't like to make wide speculations, but that I can say without a shadow of a doubt in my mind.
