Shit! The one night I am too busy to peek online all this craziness happens! Oh, well...
(In for 2 copies)
Bullshit. How Robbie found the haunted CD or whatever the fuck it was never explained. Hirsch left shit open for no reason whatsoever and just rushed the ending. I felt no closure at the end of the show because the moment it went for a genuine moment with Stan forgetting everyone, it just says "fuck you lol" and reverses it. I did not feel anything for the show at the end. Bill was a fun villian but was completely ruined by making him look weak. Dreamchasers or whatever it was, the finale of season 1 was great. But Bill was made to be some pawn with his forgettable cast of demon characters.
Just extremely unsatisfying. You can tell there was to be more but towards the middle of the 2nd season they rushed to finished it.
No, Hirsch does have a shitty work ethic. The dude couldn't decide on where to go with the show and constantly went over schedule and overworked himself. Season 1 was solid because it had a plan. Season 2 didn't have a plan and it showed. He completely fucked up and rushed to finish the show because Disney was impatient. The hiatuses were Disney's fault but I understand they wanted to space out releases of the show. Hirsch seemed hard to work with because if you look at him now -- he has no shows going for him. He was going to have a show at Fox but that went down the tubes. Hirsch isn't the kind of person to be given all that power in a TV show. He can't handle it.
Also, I don't really have any beef with him. His twitter is pretty fucking bad, but whatever. I've drawn with him in Gravity Falls drawrooms late at night (around two times) and he drew some requests for me. Even one of my shitty ironic fanart was sent to him for whatever reason. He's cool, but needs control.
Hate to be that person, but you do bring up a ton of good points. However, I personally believe that Hirsch simply pushed himself too far. Think like John K, but a few steps back and without the ego. The man personally dipped (forgive the pun) his hands into nearly ever aspect GF wise, including each and every script. I couldn't even imagine all of the bullshit this guy put himself though to reach near-perfection.
On the other end, yes, there are a ton of different plot-holes still open to this day, that not even that real-life Journal 3 covers, such as you mentioned, the entire Robbie's CD incident of "Boyz Crazy." (It's Dipper's fucking journal, but Mabel's clone adventures are detailed in it?) Heck, some stuff is just now coming out of the woodwork (e.g. Wendy's brothers' names) and some instances were complete bullshit (Blendin's ultimate fate)
Still, I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He really seems to care about the fans, and at least, owns up to his mistakes when made.
Hell, I saw this tidbit from his twitter when I saw the news tonight:
IMHO, it takes balls to say that you fucked things up here and there despite creating one of the best modern animated series. I still don't think Bruce Timm apologized for "The Killing Joke" yet.
Speaking of twitter, saw this trailing one of the announcements:
Can someone please hook this guy up with a member of DONTNOD or Deck Nine Games? No offense to TTG, but the Life is Strange series already takes place in Oregon, so they're halfway there. Maybe something cel-shaded like Wind Waker....
Totally buying this on Blu-Ray.
Just wanted to say I love the art that you used as your avatar. The person that made it is a very sweet and polite young woman. It made me really happy when she finally met Hisrch during his Russian trip last year.
I've wanted to see this show for a while and was hoping it would get a Blu-ray release, but is it worth the price of admission?
Is this one of those situations where it will pop up on Amazon for $30 cheaper right away?
This is the deal from my experience.
With Shout Factory, a lot of their stuff never really goes on sale, especially the limited edition sets. Even more so, the freebies that they're offering with it usually goes for more than the tape itself (my brother collects a lot of Horror from them, and has even sold a few of the extra posters he's received here and there)
Unfortunately, as with Scott Pilgrim, a lot of the GF merch is very niche, and limited in print. The action figures retail for astronomical amounts on ebay and amazon, and even the black-light Journal 3 from last year - a $90 book - now goes for $250-300.
In other words, I wouldn't chance it.
Y'all can sit while I wait for my Kim Possible blu ray
WIth the rumors of the life-action version coming soon, I wouldn't be surprised.
Lastly, this tidbit got me:
