My avatar app got update with a rename, now it's called Originals Xbox Avatars.

I guess they are keeping the old ones for purchases and games that use them, but the new avatars should be hitting soon.

Yeah I saw that updated the other day, it's been called "Original" Xbox Avatars for months. There is another app that is for the new ones, they accidentally released it a few months back to Alpha ring preview people, but the app didn't work.

New Alpha update today.

Starting at 2 p.m. PDT today, members of the Xbox One Preview Update Alpha ring will begin receiving the latest Xbox One system update (1804.180323-1922). Read on to learn more about fixes and known issues in the latest system update.

Fixes:

Network
  • When a user loses XBL internet connectivity for any variety of reasons (ISP issues, home router issues, XBL service issues, cable pull tests, etc.) the console will now recover its connectivity a lot quickly.
Party Chat
  • Stability fixes for Game chat.
Broadcasting
  • Resolved stability issues with the continuous broadcasting feature when users would pause and restart the broadcast.
My Games and Apps
  • Fixed issues when updating games.
Settings Display
  • Fixed an issue in which some TV devices would not show correct color and/or luminance for XBOX HDR GameDVR recordings.
Blu-ray App
  • We resolved an issue when some users would receive an error when Inserting a blu-ray without having the app installed. The fix now takes the user to the store PDP (Product display page) to download the app.
Mixer
  • Resolved an issue in which resulted in all mixer audio streams being muted when the user simply wanted to mute the mic.
Store
  • Resolved issues in which Store purchase flow is broken for some users.
Microsoft Edge
  • We fixed an issue in which after opening several tabs, particularly if they are resource intensive, opening new tabs, typing in the address bar, or anything that causes a new process/component to be created can hang and eventually crash the browser.
Miscellaneous – Xbox App
  • We resolved an issue in which the Xbox App (PC, iOS or Android) was unable to wake the console if it was in connected standby mode.

Known Issues:

Pi-hole
  • Pi-hole users may encounter issues signing in, creating, or recovering accounts upon downloading the 1804 update. This is due to a new configuration file which is downloaded from a URL Pi-hole blocks by default.
  • Workaround: Add clientconfig.passport.net to the Pi-hole allowed IP address list.
Netflix
  • Netflix on Monitor only works at 1080p and does not support 1440p – Netflix is aware of the issue. Workaround : If watching Netflix on a Monitor/LCD please set the display output to 1080p.
HDR Issues
  • Some users are discovering that some games are not showing in HDR – Please file feedback when you encounter this to help in the investigation.
Spotify Search
  • Some users are discovering that the search function in Spotify is not working. Please file feedback when you encounter this to help in the investigation. Workaround – Type in a search hit enter and nothing happens. Click the left stick twice and it searches properly.
Controller sharing/ Co-pilot vibration issues
  • Some users may experience a problem with a controller vibrating non-stop when using the share controller or the co-pilot feature.

Profile Color
  • Sometimes users may encounter the incorrect Profile color when powering on the console.

The reconnect speed fix is nice. Keep these updates coming.

Also, big thanks to those that keep posting the latest updates.

Was hoping that today's update would better address hdmi issues I'm having the last day or so. It's gotten really bad. Audio and video drops/stuttering. I wonder if they've really borked something adding the VRR and updating the HDMI. Never had this many issues before being an insider. Am in first Alpha group. Guess this is what I get for being a guinea pig. Lol

I have no idea if the last update has bugged my Xbox out or if it's dying. This is frustrating

Problem started when I tried to move apps from external to internal hdd. Everything froze. Hard reboot.

Later, I try to get into SoT with a few friends. I'm invited to party but while maneuvering through the guide to get to the party tab, I click on invites and nothing happens.

I try to go to settings. Press A. Nothing happens.

I factory reset by powering cycle (and using bind and eject method). Black screen.

I try to update firmware using usb. No luck. I get errors 105 and 101.

Finally after multiple tries, I get the console to reboot and I reset everything. Seems to be working.

I just did a full shutdown. Turned console back on. Now looking at a black screen but can hear prompts.

Pics: https://imgur.com/a/cNuOO

What is going on?

Xbox Support conformed latest preview has borked several consoles that can no longer display a screen when booting up!

Have to hard factory reset for time being until they can patch a fix. (Unplug, reply's, hold bind and eject, press console button on while still holding bind and eject. Let go of both after beep)

I'm about to step away from my desk for an issue, but is there a handy link somewhere?

With the latest Preview Dashboard my Xbox One X encodes all audio as ATMOS, even when it's not. Before it would switch to ATMOS when there was a true ATMOS stream, otherwise I could use Dolby Surround Upmixing with those titles that weren't ATMOS. Now, I don't have a choice, since non-ATMOS streams are their discrete channels encapsulated in an ATMOS signal, preventing me from doing any further processing.
Just hold the home button on the controller to report the issue.
I'm super late to responding to this, as I just saw this response, but that is what I wound up doing. The biggest hurdle with reporting, I found, was that I couldn't use the Xbox mobile app for text entry. It made reporting a chore, but it's important enough to me that I did bang out the "issue" and how it differed from previous iterations of the OS. I could have used a USB keyboard, couldn't I? I am just now vaguely remembering that that's a thing.

I put myself into the Delta ring to avoid getting 3+ updates a week, but for whatever reason, they've been pushing several updates a week to Delta ring, anyways. Also, 4+ updates later and I still don't have any audio for FFXV. At least it's the only game in my library that's been affected (at least as far as I know). And yes, I did already report it; I don't think reporting it again would do anything.

It's a big mistake releasing this update to the public anytime soon. The audio/ video issues going on are a pain in the ass. Most people will think their system has gone faulty. Have been reporting the issue for weeks and it seems they are not close to a resolution of this issue as the fixes haven't been working. Something is seriously wrong with the HDMI updates they've done.

I think there's a chance we get new avatars next week. The Xbox Avatars (original) app has updated like 6 times in the last couple weeks.

I think they'll be showcased during Inside Xbox and then released to Alpha Insiders.

I like to change my gamerpic at the beginning of every month, but whenever I press the Guide button, I still see the gamerpic I was using last month. In certain games where your gamerpic is visible in the menus (like Cuphead), the displayed gamerpic is the one I was using last month, though the Xbox sign-in screen does show the correct gamerpic. I don't suppose anyone else has noticed this on their profile?

I'm guessing they are caching images locally somewhere and they refresh after a certain date. Not sure if there is a way to clear all local caches but you could try that if it exists.

Hi can anyone comment on the HDR fix, is it applicable to recordings only or does it apply to all HDR games?

Any difference?

Did anybody else have a 3.5GB update for 1805? I am fairly certain I got the previous update so it shouldn't have been a full reinstall. If it wasn't just me, then the larger payload could mean more significant features being added, if not enabled.

Goodluck trying to use YouTube or any streaming service with updates queued. The updates seem to take all the bandwidth priority, and other services halt to a crawl.
Using those apps on the console? The opposite is actually true, if you're using a streaming app (or most games) on the Xbox, your download speeds will be throttled.

If you're not using anything else on the console and you are using a streaming service from another device, then yeah it might suck up your bandwidth.

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2018/04/20/may-xbox-update/

New stuff coming in the May Update:
120Hz Comes to Consoles
In April, we added variable refresh rate, 1440p resolution support, and auto low latency mode. But we aren't done just yet. In May, we're adding support for additional panel refresh rates. Gamers with gaming monitors and televisions that support a 120Hz refresh rate can now turn on 120Hz support for 1080p and 1440p output resolutions. This high refresh rate option means you can now take full advantage of displays with 120Hz capabilities.

Group Your Games and Apps
Our fans asked for new ways to organize their library of games and apps. In response, we're introducing a powerful new enhancement to Pins which we call "Groups." With Groups, you can create multiple collections of content made up of anything from within My games & apps. You can also assign custom names to each Group, organize and order them, and add individual Groups to Home. Groups will appear across My games & apps, Home, and Guide, so you'll be able to access your Groups at a moment's notice. Best of all, Groups are tied to your account, so they will automatically sync across multiple Xbox One consoles. We've started you off with a Group that should look very familiar — your Pins!
We're doing something a little different with the rollout of this feature: Groups will not initially be enabled for everyone in the Alpha ring. In order to gauge interest and collect feedback, we will instead gradually roll out Groups over time within Alpha.

Trim Clips Directly in the Guide
Last month, we added a new sharing feature that helps gamers upload their captured screenshots and videos directly to Twitter. This month, we're improving on the sharing experience even further; you can now trim your recent game captures directly from the Guide, so you won't need to switch to Upload Studio to make a quick cut to your saved clips.

Improved Family Settings
Xbox One is also helping parents keep their family safe with updates to family settings. We're adding a "Details" page where parents can easily find and manage all family settings on Xbox One. Parents will easily be able to tell which family and content settings are set up and configured. Important setting that are turned off or require attention will be flagged as well. Some settings, such as activity reports and screen time limits, can only be accessed through the web: We'll identify those settings and provide links where parents can easily set them up.

Improvements to the Xbox Accessories App
We're also modernizing the Xbox Accessories app to make it easier to navigate, and to look and feel more consistent with the rest of the Xbox One dashboard.

Intuitive Button Commands
We're also making changes to some of the button commands throughout the dashboard. For example, you can now use the View button on Home to edit the order of blocks or reorder items within Groups. Pressing the "View" button on the main tab of the Guide will also now display additional capture options. If you group your collections in My games and apps by letter, you will now need to select a letter to view all groups.
