I've been whacking him in the face using hunting horn the entire time lol but I just got it. Got the 2 that needed with a single investigation along with 2 gems. So that makes 5 gems!

I might finally make a Hammer or just make a new HH (the Jho one) for Scalps. Haven't had any luck even with randoms bashing his head.

I'm about to augment my jho switch axe for health regen. When it says it stacks with upgrades does it mean armor skills? Is it recovery up?

Anyone have a recommendation for a good DB set that isn't too difficult to craft? I have the Odo set + eyepatch, and I'm looking to build the Rath/teo set, but it's going to take a while to get that. I'm wondering if there is a decent set in between those two.

Fire and Ice were my first DB set. One of the best DBs. I don't recall the mats being hard to get.

Built a new SwagAxe build around earplugs/evade extender/weakness exploit. Sacrificing damage but I'm going to try it out. I still only have 1 attack gem and a few builds stack up a few of them (lol @ how rare attack gems seem to be, and they are lvl 1).

Xeno'jiiva is mainly because the Jagras Raider has poor blue sharpness, but I want to see what the exhaust phial is like. Trying to build in handicraft was challenging.

Does Stamina Thief help with Exhaust? It seemed to make sense to fill up slot 1 gems with stamina thief.

Played pretty much only against Jho over the weekend (13 times roughly) and STILL no Deviljho Gem.
How are people getting insanely lucky on finding it?

Also, what is a good set for the Great Sword (Jho's) to get its affinity down?

I had the best luck getting gems from the Optional Flambe quest. Got all my gems there. Haven't gotten any gems from the Special Assignment or the Investigations.

Obviously but the drop rates are fucking horrendous. What small animal do I have to sacrifice to RNGesus to get them to drop?
As mentioned, Tailraider Safaris have a good chance of getting these (and other) Sacs from monsters. Otherwise, do investigations. Make sure it has at least one gold reward box, because that one has a 10% chance of rewarding you with three of them in case of Legiana. While silver reward only gives you one (12% chance).

The odds are a bit more favorable with Jyuratodus:

Silver reward: 2x Aqua Sac, 14% chance
Gold reward: 3x Aqua Sac, 12% chance

I got a ton of gems (seriously, if scalps would drop I could make every weapon) but not a single hero or warrior's streamstone from the tempered event. RNG sucks. Your best bet is gold box investigations if it works like the rest of the monsters. At the moment the only way to get them I imagine is to tail Jho and farm tracks but I don't know for sure.

For the GS I don't know. I'm running with a Crit draw build instead of True Charged Slash and that seems to be working ok. (Haven't tried against TEDs though). Skills are Crit Draw, Earplugs, Quick Sheath, Weakness Exploit, and Handicraft. With those you should be doing a couple hundred damage each draw attack. TTS is still worth doing when the opening presents itself but draw attacks hit plenty hard when you can. If you still have Deco room I'd run some defensive skills.

Can anyone tell me why elemental attack skills have 5 levels even though most if not all weapons will cap out elemental damage with 3? What weapons can actually take advantage of all 5 levels?

Thanks for all this! Going to look into it later.

How do I do Tailrider Safari's? I've seen them mentioned in the loading screen, but never saw an option for one in the quest board.
I wish I could just straight up buy Armor Spheres.
I have yet to use these so I'm kind of swimming in them probably. I just try to grind out new gear. Though I've been told when I'm probably way higher than rank 10 I should just upgrade armor.

Safari is initiated in your room from the cat standing to the left of your item box. Talk to him and he'll offer the option to depart.

It's also in the Gathering Hall (or whatever the top floor of the lift is). There's a cat hanging out up there that, when you walk near him, offers Trailrider Safari.

- Lagiana set(3 pieces) has an ability that give you better quest rewards
- Karin set(2 pieces) ability give you better capture rewards
- Eat a meal that gives you Lucky Cat using a voucher(to guarantee getting food skills)
- Use daily ticket
- Find a Jho investigation with decent rewards
- Break Jho head, chest and cut its tail for maximum gem drop chance
- Capture it

Combine all of the above for maximum enjoyment :D

This is what I get for like never going to my room.

You unlock them after you go to the Rotten Vale the first time. Go to the Research Base and talk to the researcher on the lowest level of the base, directly down the stairs near the entrance. Alternatively, you can send Tailraider Safaris from your room by talking to the housekeeper.

Yeah I should have access these by now since I'm wearing half of the Odagaron set and my Palico used to wear the Rabodan stuff. Hopefully I'll remember about these when I get home since I want to make an ice bow to help with dragon damage.

I might make an Exhaust or Paralysis Gunlance build for Jho. So tired of trying to do my full burst attack on him cuz he keeps moving so damn much.

It's quite a big damage hit! Well, that build above is anyway.

I think it's just time I move on from the SwagAxe and try the Gunlance or something. Or bow. My issue with the bow is gems IIRC, most bow builds seem to need pretty specific gems.

Gunlance is great cuz you can block pretty much almost everything. It only sucks when he decides he's sick fo you blocking and decides to eat you. Had that happen a few times while I was tanking him.

I think I've had him stomp directly on top of me blocking with the regular lance

Here's my 7'43 flawless run against Deviljho using a Spread 2 and Sleep bombing LBG build:

https://youtu.be/dH-RdUsAEJU

Spent way too much time dodging. Going to try a RF Thunder build next.

I mean...yeah sure...BUT I can triple-cart against tempered Deviljho in under 6 minutes!! Beat that :-)
If anyone wants to know my secret build, msg me.

(I enjoy your vids!)

Edit - with the messages above - I reckon the game gets strange about hitboxes sometimes. When an attack is directly above you, the game has to work out whether it hits your front (blocked) or back (not blocked)...sometimes this is messy and the block is not guaranteed.

Anyone else playing with Jho weapons (Blademaster especially) do you find yourself gravitating toward the same pieces of armor constantly?

For me Earplugs and Stun resist are mandatory on almost all my builds (because stun lock deaths upset me more than anything else in this game) which kinds dictates at least 1 to 2 armor pieces or a charm slot. Then Jho weapons only really reveal their potential vs nergi/vaal weapons with handicraft which covers another armor slot or two. That leaves little room for experimentation for me.

Here's my generic "Deviljho blademaster" armor set:
Bazel Helm B
Kushala Chest B
Kaiser Vambraces (A or B depending on slot needs)
Bazel Waist B
Death Stench B
Charm: Weapon dependent

This isn't optimal for any Jho weapon but it provides everything I need. Max earplugs, stun resist via decos, and level 4/5 handicraft (depends on if I use the deco). If you have protective polish you can probably get away with less handicraft and swap in speed sharpening.

The only Jho weapon I have a different build for is the Horn. I forgo handicraft and weakness exploit and focus on team skills like speed eating and wide range. I still do good damage (thanks to attack up XL) and the base blue sharpness is enough to keep me going through each encounter.

Damn totally forgot the temp jho was a limited quest. Was by far the easiest tempered to get into online. Completely wasted yesterday(farmed to death Saturday) thinking I could get back to the quest today :(
