Happens to me too on PSN, but I just assume it's Comcast being the worst.Every so often I get disconnected from the game during a fight. Or I fail to join someone's session even though there's room. I'm not the only one. It's happened to a friend I play with. It's rare.
Does this happen to anyone else on PSN or XBL?
Yeah, your investigation is gone the second you post it to the board. Sucks but it is what it is.When you guys say "abandon the investigation if it isn't a crown monster," that wastes the investigation, right? You don't get the try back?
I'm about 10 crowns away from the trophy, and I'll be looking to save some time with tactics like this soon.

That's right. You won't get quest rewards, but you keep an research points you've accumulated, materials gathered, and if you've had a pop at it and broken bits off you get to keep any bits you pick up. Basically you just don't get any rewards for completing the investigation - and one of your investigation tries is permanently used up. I don't do it with any tempered investigations so I don't waste them, but I burn through all my others, it's far faster than killing every one.
This basic involves eyeballing it right? There is no way to tell before you kill it?

Re crowns, I'd be interested if the sizes are predetermined like melds (= same crown sizes in the same order when you restore the save). Anyone got info on that?
Seconding this. I actually swapped controllers yesterday, just to make sure my controller wasn't faulty. I've carted dozens of times just because the game seemingly failed to register my inputs. The thing I hate the most with this game are all these dragging animations that interrupt what you want to do. They are for the most part completely invisible which makes it very confusing most of the time. The character just stands still when try to take drink the potion, but nothing happens because the game thinks you are in an active animation that doesn't allow for drinking the potion. I'm in the habit of spamming every action like 10 times now to avoid this crap and it's not fun what so ever.
I couldn't resist buying this.
Did a Tempered Vaal Hazak hunt and he has such a weird attack. It has been mentioned here before, but it looks like he turns around... and he one-shots you. Somehow. No miasma blast, no tail sweep, no head sweep; you're standing near his hind legs, he turns around and, since he's tempered, you're dead.
I could affort the faint, but I'm going to stay away from investigations that don't allow at least one cart.

I also hate those long-winded animations for some things. Like gathering tracks. Your character kneels, gathers the track, gets up again, takes a sniff and even then there's still this second-long-but-feels-like-an-eternity moment of them finishing the entire animation and becoming controllable again.
I hit the exact wall I was expecting to hit with Kirin. Literally the worst monster in the entire series, at least without going into sub-species and whatnot. I think I'm just gonna happily stay at HR49.
do you have crowns for deviljho when you got the plat?Apparently I just had to complain about it again - finally got big boy Kirin and the platinum
It's actually kind of shocking at how low the drop rate is for streamstones other than the bog standard ones. I mean, shit, am I doing something wrong? I haven't managed to unlock any Tempered Elder Dragon quests yet which doesn't help either.
I know that this is Monster Hunter but I've fought 8 Deviljhos today and only need a single Tallfang and it just won't freaking happen.
You're definitely not guaranteed to get streamstones from tempered Deviljiho. I've done it 3 times and not gotten any. It probably is the best way to get them though. The current event up if you are HR50 I think it is, is for finding blue Beryl's at the elder recess - the place is crammed with tempered elder tracks and you pick up loads of tempered elder investigations by repeatedly doing the event.
Also the current tempered Deviljho event seems to have a guaranteed streamstone drop. But he's too hard for me tempered, I can't do it

Besides using the thunderproof mantle the best advice there is and will ever be for Kirin is slow down your gameplay, Don't get greedy at all at any time, if you can hit it once that's more than enough, way until it cast whatever atk it does and attack afterwards, be reactionary and check for openings, if it is not casting a thunder somewhere else, don't try to attack.

I've got more saliva than I know what to do with hahaha. Got my Palico using the Plunderblade, dude drops Saliva like nobody's business. I think I have like, 15-40 of every other material, a couple of gems, but no Tallfangs. It's ridiculous.Same situation except I neeeeed saliva! To make things worse I am actually really quite bad at killing it too, I can't seem to get to grips with it's movement patterns.
Sword and shield is easier to support in many ways, but don't think that you have to support using those weapons. I use them for damage! Before bed tonight I tried to get used to the horn for a support build, but I just didn't find it fun. It was useful to put up earplugs, but it's a bit janky memorising the songs lol.
I'll probably ditch it, but I'll give it some more tries this week. I've read sword and shield can be made into a good support build too.
Almost at HR 50 as well.
I tried to recall what happened immediately before I fainted, but I don't remember aside from getting hounded by those shitty Raphinos while I was attacking Vaal. I did not know his tail sweep was a two-part attack however. Likely because I'm usually either at a safe distance to completely avoid it or I get knocked out of the way of the second attack when it does hit me.His tailsweep is a two-part attack: he drags it along the ground on startup knocking everything behind him back and doing modest damage, then he turns and whips it completely around the other side of his body in a quick snap in a hit that does twice as much.
If you're not catching the second half of that (which is very fast and much harder to notice), I don't know what to tell you. I've fought him 100 times (literally) and never had an invisible attack, aside from the goofy push-out with minor damage when you're under him during a roar.
Vaal Hazak pants + one Miasma Jewel slotted into it. That gives you full immunity to the "halved HP" status effect. Do note this doesn't protect you from the normal effluvia chip damage. How do people deal with Vaal's status? Decorations, or nullberries, or something else?

I stay at his side, giving him a wide berth. I also stay back at camp staying out of other hunters way. Don't judge me. I do a lot for the team. I bake cookies, and above all I don't die.How do people deal with Vaal's status? Decorations, or nullberries, or something else?
Yeah Daora is not a very interesting hunt. My biggest issue with Daora is it DOESN'T SHUT THE HELL UP. It has to roar every 30 seconds to a minute and gets follow up attacks that can do some severe damage (especially if tempered). I do like it's theme though.Daora is just a really shitty fight, isn't it? Trying to grind out horns and tails but he is just straight up unfun. It's not that he's any trouble, but you're either constantly flashing or waiting for him to calm tf down. Three wind jewels doesn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks, I'll look into those pants. And I think I have several of those gems (and not a lot of other good ones anyway). The chip damage is fine, I just get worried with my bar that small. It's pretty deceptive, I've actually been swept back by the earliest portion of the attack, gotten up, and rolled myself right back into the second part. It's also really easy to eat the second part if you successfully Foresight Slash the first half and go for the follow-up roundslash, since the second half takes so long to come around that you've lost your defense by that point. And to just see the tail drag by, think it's safe, and run straight into the second part trying to punish the opening.
acmshar: I use decorations, personally.

I agree, a cooldown would make Elderseal feel a lot more useful. It would also help if there were actual known numbers or a ratio for how and when Elderseal activates. They really need to add a cooldown on Elder Dragons raising their auras. What seems to cause them to roar so much is that Elderseal knocks their aura off, but then they just say, "Ha, fuck you though" and immediately roar it back on. I've seen them literally roar back up to full aura level with back-to-back roars immediately after having the aura stripped. Aside from being stupid and obnoxious, it makes the entire Elderseal system a complete waste on everything but Nergigante.
On the way to complete my ultimate tank set. I don't have all the decorations I want yet but the most important parts are in place. Currently I can completely withstand roars, stuns, knockbacks and unique monster attacks and I also have some resistance against tremors. I feel kinda like this

Omg, I don't think I've ever been so close to defeating Kirin. 20 minutes of fighting and he was down to his last breath, but then some clown with a bow jumped into the game and died too many times so I failed. I sadly didn't think about making it a solo game.
This is probably the only game I've ever played where it's actually more difficult to get help from other players. It just invites disaster most of the time.
Played online for the first time with my buddy Gegz GREAT fun man, thanks for the games! Hope you feel better soon
