My record is 9min 50sec with Karma normal shots and sleep bombs.

Hmm, I'll have to try it out then. Blast is my favourite status to apply but I don't fully understand the mechanics behind it. Is it based on the amount of damage you do or the amount of hits? Like what counts towards the buildup?

You're guaranteed decorations (and/or streamstones) from tempered investigations, from normal ones you're not. Generally you want to run normal investigations for materials, tempered for decorations.
You're describing my journey with this game. 240 hours and counting, I can't recommend it enough.
I think you need the Nulify Wind Pressure set bonus from the Kushala armor to beat the wind aura.
It's like the other statuses. Based on your blast stat and motion value of the move your using. Once you have applied enough blast to hit the threshold...boom. Shouldn't have anything to do with your attack number.
Do you have a special strat for crowns? I just realized that with all my hours I have like 4 gold crowns but I don't remember if there where any more gold for the ones I already have, I guess I should start keeping record of gold crowns since I assume there is no in game total counter.
They're displayed in your field guide and in your guild card (I think).
Don't hesitate. I was completely new to MH and now I'm up to 220 hours, playing mostly solo to begin with and then a whole bunch of quests with randoms. This game is so good. Don't plan on playing anything else though, I haven't been able to dig into the other games I want to play. Zero hours of non-MHW games played since the end of january. This game is the the Time Eater :P
This is my very first MH game and I love it, I only play with randoms too not that many frustrating teammates unlike every other single coop game and the more you progress that number becomes even less. I regret paying one month sub on FFXIV which I also love since I can't stop playing MonHun.

I tried Jho last night and everyone was carting left and right,thankfully I can keep my ground as Lance otherwise I wouldn't last 30 secs.
Jhoe's event with randoms is a headache. People carting left and right.

Exact same thing happened to me. Full health, with food buffs, I roll off a hill with a hammer so I'm spinning in midair, he goes for that wing ground drag move which connects with me and the game immediately tells me I've fainted.
I got 1 shot with 460 or so. It was the head slam that stole my soul. The rest were usually a combo of a slam into breath.
Said I was done with tempered Jho but who am I kidding... Wanna get better at it and try with more weapons.
Went with glaive for the first time and it took almost 30 minutes but I learned a lot of what I was doing wrong... Gonna try again at some point today and see if I can get that time way down.
Also is capturing a guaranteed hero stone? I've legit gotten a hero stone every time I've captured him... Probably just lucky though.

Whoa, what? If these exist than it's an unannounced change, post-patch. I'd like to see quite a few other set bonuses show up as decorations (see: Razor Sharp, Super recovery) but I thought someone confirmed that they weren't in the game data.
One thing that's been bothering me lately, is why we don't have more quests that have 2 (or more) of the same monster on the map. In previous games I loved doing quests that involved, let's say 2 or even 3 Rathalos in a single quest because it was a great source for farming general materials and getting rare drops. I hope these types of quests get added later, or patched in for investigations.
Just complaining because Giant crown Teostra doesn't exist in my game!!!!!! It's the only crown left I need and it will not happen. I've slayed well over 50 giant sized Teos, quit out of countless other investigations with average or small sized ones, and my silver crown is only 30 bloody points off a gold, it's just cruel at this point!
Yeah, it's really weird, especially when the HR29 assigned quest has you fight two Tempered B52s and then you lose access to that quest afterwards.
At least I wouldn't mind investigations with two of the same monster.
Gotten my tempered Vaal kill times to ~6 min with Charge Blade. Not optimal, but I feel pretty good about it. Can't kill him before he limps off to go sleep, but he doesn't die more than 10 seconds after waking up.

If any of my Xbox peeps are looking to do some Angry Pickles, I'll be on around noon PST. Did 4-5 runs this morning with randoms but we only succeeded once - I run Karma LBG with Normal 2 shots so solo is rough (hard to keep range and aim when he's in your face 100% of the time) but I keep myself alive and put out a steady stream of damage.

Investigations with Gold and Silver rewards, multimonster events. I use youtube as a resource for what the crown monsters should look like, I go in to the quest, if it matches or is close enough I go for the kill, if not I just abandon and repost the quest. make sure to exhaust the investigation because you never know when the crown monster will show up, it could appear in the first run or the last one (sometimes not at all.) its a grind but I've decided to make MH my first platinum so I can't give up T-T
If it helps - only kill ones that are the right size to save time - return from investigation on the average sized ones.
Giant Kirin your hunter can stand totally under its belly with a visible gap between the top of your head and the start of its belly above you. Very noticeable. Use redpits to get it to stand somewhere flat so you can try and stand under it for an accurate measurement.
Mini Kirin your hunter head will be almost level with the vertical blue stripe down it's side. Stand at the side of it and check.
I only killed 12 Kirin to get both crowns using those measurements
Seeing as you seem to have a lot of knowledge about Kirin, do you have any tips for someone who just started battling him? I'm constantly dying to random thunder attacks and I'm not very good at avoiding being stunned. Do you have to carry armor with anti-stun and thunder res?
Man the other day I beat Deviljho easily like a chump a few times but godamn tempered deviljho is much harder.

What weapon are you using? I did him ony with ranged weapons so far, mostly with LBG. There were quests where he didn't hit me once, but he also killed me. For a tempered I eat 6x veggie for elemental res L, for a normal investigation I don't even bother ...
After a while you'll know when and where he strikes his attacks, only when he does his arrogant "Don't give a fuck"-walk the lightning seems random. Palico has the sleep weapon, so he gets 2 mega barrel bombs mid-fight and 2 after he gone to sleep.
I watched speedruns to learn when to attack but i still can't prevent him to flee. But it's a good bombing opportunity, so no regrets ... I also kind of mastered the way up to his sleeping place O_o
Best tip I have: fight at night, it is so much easier to see the long lightning thingies he doesn from time to time ... and if you see a gajalaka sitting on a rock, lure him to the guy for some extra damage :)

Ah I see, I never use tempered quests when looking for crowns, makes it much faster to quit in and out looking for the right size.
I'm mostly salty because I need over 20 Kadachi claws and 30 Anja fang + for weapons. Would be much easier if I had an investigations for each where 2 were on the map at the same time.
Why are you killing it if you just want a crown? If you see it's normal sized, just leave the quest! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for all the great tips. I'm using a lancer so my movement is rather slow. I can block all of his thunder attacks but sometimes they come too fast for me to be able to react. I'll just have to practice some more I guess. :)
This is me with large Kirin - I've checked hundreds of them, killed a tonnnnnn of giant ones I can walk clear under with the gap, gold crown refuses to pop
Me too. Wildspire Wastes would be a fun choice.
Or alternatively, have events for other super tempered monsters that have the same HP boost and crazy damage as Tempered Jho.
When you guys say "abandon the investigation if it isn't a crown monster," that wastes the investigation, right? You don't get the try back?
I'm about 10 crowns away from the trophy, and I'll be looking to save some time with tactics like this soon.
