I just finished the game and really enjoyed it. Definitely some jank, especially towards the end, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. There's lots of mini games scattered throughout which are pretty enjoyable as short time wasters. I'm definitely going to play through a second time to make some of the other available choices and try to get the rest of the trophies since I missed quite a few.

Absolutely worth the $30 imo, the co-op aspects are really well done. For those who are upset at co-op only, I get it - but I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot if you think you'd like it. Since you only need 1 copy you can absolutely find another ERA member to play with if you don't have someone lined up.

Fuck the Oscars.

Just escaped the prison, please tell me there is plenty of hours left. Loving it so far. Also has anyone tried playing solo with two controllers yet. I don't know if it would be possible but could be a mighty challenge.

About halfway through the game today I'm pretty sure! There were a few issues like when I got stuck in a cut scene because of walking guards and a floating cigarette, there's nothing game breaking and I've loved my time with the game so far. Should finish up the game next weekend, could be up there in game of the years, probably my favourite game so far this year (that is only having played Kirby, DBFZ and SotC with like an hour of Monster Hunter)

No pc players ;-; buying a game and having to wait to find someone who wants to play it is a bummer, wish there was some basic matchmaking.

Tho it is 2 am/early elsewhere on a Saturday so no wonder the thread's dead.

Pulled an all nighter with a friend last night. Took us about six and a half hours to complete it and we didn't rush it, missed a lot of trophies though. But damn, this is the best co-op experiences I've had in a long time. The game is gorgeous and very much fun to play, especially couch co-op. The story is a blend of a lot of things we've all seen before, but it works.
Just before the reveal we both joked about, wouldn't it be funny if one of us was an undercover cop. And the next minute we we're shooting each other! After hours of co-op, that was really intense and heart breaking. The final shot of them together really reminded me of the movie Heat.
Go and play it if you can, I'm sure it will end in my top 10 of this year!

I have played like 4 hours of A Way Out and my experience is positive AF. This is how i wanted a co-op game to be done. it's awesome. The set pieces are brilliantly designed and split-screen makes it all better.

I hope that this game does well because i seriously want other developers to make this kind of game in the future.

Those of who don't have people to play with, find others like yourself and play this beauty of a game, i'm sure you'll all love it.

I played up to the prison escape with my sister last night and we seriously are enjoying it! In fact the whole prison life sequence was just amazing and a great intro to how things work.

The one off gameplay elements and light puzzle solving as a team is really cool even if simple. I'm giving Hazelight props for the concept too, watching your mate in a cut scene while you explore or chat to npc's keeps feeling like a new step up in co op games.

The VA and facial animation for main characters is also great coming from such a small team, despite some jank here and there which is understandable.

Can't wait to play more now it's Saturday!

How do I play solo?

Edit: Wish I had read up on the game before I bought it.

It's written on the box in big white font, it's been in every single marketing and interview that you can't play it alone, I mean come on.

And if you bought it digitally, well, just invite someone from era to play with you for free.

I didn't realize there wasn't matchmaking, but oh well. If anyone wants to play through it on pc for free via my copy or if you just are waiting to play too hit me up.

Ya it was a stupidly small difference other than performance...well performing better lol

Yeah right, I had to rub my eyes to see it :D
When installing I didn't pay attention but I seem to recall there wasn't a day one patch so maybe Hazelight has a patch coming.

Graphics and lighting are great but the framerate on Xbox One X could use a little boost.

Anyways, fantastic game. Makes me wonder what to play next after the second walkthrough because I really just want more of this.

yeah, broke my heart too, me and my coop partner tried to do things different to get a different ending but it remained heartbreaking

loved every bit of the game, took us just short of 6 hours to finish it.

I also assume Josef is a big fan of Shawshank Redemption? There were so many things straight up lifted from the film and put in during the prison stay.

Just finished this game with a friend. Oh my fucking god what an incredible fucking experience. Possible GOTY for me. It was so amazing and I hope there's future co-op games like this. The ending. Omg. So good. My friend and I never took a break. From start to finish.

I just ended the hospital part. Right now, don't get how can reviewers give this under an 8. I guess who's your partner can add to the experience (Just like playing Until Down with more people does). I'm having a blast.

The story isn't anything crazy, but the co-op dynamics (especially presentation terms) are nuts. I don't recall a better execution in a video game than the hospital segment. And it displays (In a good way) that Josef has been involved with the movie industry.
Also in love with the minigames and "special" interactions.

I really think EA should be kicking their balls for not investing more in the game when they saw what was in their hands. With the right amount of tweaks in the gameplay/graphical department and bigger marketing campaign, this game could have been an overall highlight of the year.
I hope streamers help it reach a bigger audience, just like it helped other games in the past.

Let's see how it ends,

I played about four hours with a friend last night. The story is uninteresting and cliche and the gameplay pretty much consists of pushing buttons when prompted with no real discovery or puzzle solving required. There's so far only been one sequence we both thought was great. With that said we've still had fun playing it because it's been fun making jokes about the story and dialog and just goofing off and laughing at all the sillyness we create while playing in general. I can't imagine playing this while taking it seriously. So far it's basically a 5/10 type game. Not unplayable but not great.

Finished the game in one sitting with a friend. He bought it yesterday and invited me. That's really really cool that you can online-coop this with only one copy, yet the "joiner" doesn't get any trophies. It was a fun ride. Nothing amazing or groundbreaking, but a really well done coop-experience. It shows that this game was made for coop from the ground-up and leads to some fantastic situations. Appart from the coop stuff done so well the game's biggest problem is that everything else seems a bit shallow. The characters, the setting, the gameplay, the story. Nothing of that is bad or boring but it's also not especially good or special. I have to admit though that the final act is really cool and makes this a game to remember. I wish them big success with this game, because I want to see them improve on the formular und bring it to other settings. I want more of these kind of coop-experiences.

I finished this yestarday with my brother in 1 setting.

The final act destroyed me.

What a fantastic game.

Just finished playing through this with a friend in one sitting.

I definitely enjoyed my time with it, but as the Waypoint review points out, not taking it too seriously is a must. There were so many moments that are just patently absurd and hilariously mis-timed/tone deaf that it became a comedy for me and my friend really quickly. I think the height of this is in the old couple's farm house, where you can have an impromptu jam session despite there being the perception of a time pressure. The world's internal logic was spotty at best (toilets without pipes etc), so it's at its best when you just lean into the craziness rather than look too closely at it.

That said, it does feel like a big missed opportunity. On the one hand I feel like it would never have been made without Josef Fares' advocacy, but on the other I think if he'd taken a step back, assumed Creative Director roles and allowed someone else to write the thing, we could have ended up with something really impressive. As it was I saw the twist coming a fucking miles off (Vincent is supposed to be a banker but he is proficient in brawling, stealing cars, shooting, knows people who have planes and shit?!) and it veered into the patently absurd far too often, with the peak being that hilariously ridiculous synchronised bike jump that felt more like Fast and the Furious rather than Scarface or whatever Fares was trying to go for at that moment. Not to mention the constant nods to different classics were a little too on the nose.

I also lament that they couldn't do more with that double-cross. If they could have somehow communicated to the Vincent player that they were trying to get information or evidence against Leo throughout the game, and could give that player opportunity to lead conversation etc, that would have been an incredible moment when the Leo player realises that they gave away important information or whatever at the end. I get that this isn't that game, but I also don't love when games withhold information from the player that the player's avatar would know. Heavy Rain was particularly egregious in that, but I think this flirts with it a little too heavily.

Overall, it's an enjoyable experience, but I think its comedy is utterly unintentional, which certainly makes it funnier, but I'm not sure it's a success at what it sets out to do, which is be a genuinely emotional action/drama.

I feel like I'm going crazy, game runs at a nearly perfect 4k 60 on my rig but it randomly turns purple when I load it which I thought was a driver issue but I'd load up FFXV right after and it looks perfect. Still, impossible to fix without a full shutdown. Anyone with similar issues with the pc version?

I have a question in case anyone here knows. I've done a bit of searching and can't find a direct answer.

If I invite a friend to play online with me, and they go through the process to get access to the "trial" download, can they play the game split screen with a friend of theirs or are they locked to only playing online with me?

Finished the game and it's amazing. Easily one of the best games this gen. It is definitely worth your time. don't let the coop thing stop u from playing this beauty. Co-op IS the best part of the game. Really brings a new life to action-adventure genre. imagine playing Uncharted with a friend - it's basically like that.

P.S. Do the trophies, they are very "INTERESTING" (don't wanna spoil) They add to the overall experience of the game rather than being a mere checklist.

No they can't. only the owner of the game can play with their friends.

So how is the experience playing online with a friend? Thinking of jumping in with a friend on PS4.

I have a question and perhaps someone here is in a similar situation. If I buy the game and then someone else on a different account but on the same PS4 wants to play the game, would they also be able to send a friend invite to someone else? Or would the option only be available to the original account the game was purchased on?

Edit: Never mind. Decided to get the physical version.

Just wondering if there is an issue with my TV or not since I just moved it to a new house. I haven't experienced any problems with any other content, but I am playing A Way Out on an Xbox One X and LG C7. Sometimes, during cutscenes (with the black bars), I noticed an either white or rainbow-colored squiggly line going across the top of the bottom bar. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah, really hope other devs take notice.

We just finished our second playthrough and took different paths. I rarely replay a game (I tend to lose steam after a few hours tbh )but damn....it's was as awesome as the first playthrough.

After some sandbox games ( which are kinda hard to enjoy for me lately, because I tend to lose focus and love storydriven games ) this game just did feel fantastic. And to play this , sitting next to my 16 year old son ( who hardly plays anything else than Fortnite ) was a great bonus. It's been ages since we talked so much playing a game and we had quite a few good laughs when we messed things up :)

So, kinda feel empty now. That,to me, means that the game has been great.

Kudos to Hazelight. I really hope the game does well.

Just finished the game with a friend via couch co-op. Highly recommended. GOTY contender for sure. So many great moments. They really killed it.
