I don't care about VR but this is a great game, it should be mentioned alongside DMC3 and Bayonetta as one of the best character action games of all time

lmao

ZOE2's combat is flashy and absolutely void of substance beyond that. There's no combos besides swipe swipe spin swipe. Subweapons are clunky and impractical. The combat barely changes between five minutes into the game and five hours. And when the game realizes it's time to break up the monotony, it does so with terrible gimmick sections like the minefield, or awkward boss fights like grabbing the pink mech. It feels like the basis for something that could be good if there were more meat on the bones - which also says something about how absolutely dire the first game was.

Don't get me wrong, it looks cool as hell, but it doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Bayo or DMC.

Finally, someone calls it like it is.

"It looks cool as hell" is all ZOE2 ever had going for itself.

Thank you for your opinion, it was well reasoned and articulated

I propose we agree to disagree

Yeah, praise for Zone of the Ender's mechanics has been pretty overblown over the years. I think I remember some people bringing up the Versus mode like it was some Virtual On tier thing lmao.

It's still a really good game and I'm still pumped for this release, though. The aesthetics and missions go a long way.

Kinda wish it had ZOE1. I know ZOE2 is superior in pretty much every way but it'd still be nice to have the complete set.

And release Fist of Mars on the Eshop because dammit I want to try that game.

Nah, the game is fun because we play as a robot that fly and shoot stuff in space, there is NOTHING like bayonetta here.

One of the reasons I still immensely prefer Zone of the Enders 1, it did several things much better in a fraction of the development time of 2. An actual atmosphere moving around the space station, the battle system had more depth that was about crowd management of enemies, and there was a sense of progression with subweapons that were useful for the most part.

ZoE2 was just the star warsification of the original concept into something more flashy, but with much less substance in what it was trying to convey

Can't wait to vomit all over myself once Jehuty gets
Zero Shift

One of the best anime style mech games of all time, maybe the best one, in terms of feel.

The US release comes with a ZOE patch and foil cover. The cover does look nice!

Japan, as expected, will receive a Konami Style Premium Package for around 9000yen. Comes with a artbooklet and a BD-ROM of trailers(?). Do I want it...for 9k yen? Hmmm.

So I'm playing in VR and I know I can look where I want to shoot when not locked on, but I can't tell how the lock-on system works. Is there some way to select what enemy I want to lock on to when there's several onscreen? Looking at specific enemies doesn't seem to work.
