There should be difficulty options for those that want something more challenging but so far (4 hours) I'm not disliking the lack of challenge at all. I can do cool stuff easily and it looks visually stunning while not having to be a master of the controls or constantly thinking. For a game that is going to be 80 hours to platinum and seeing how you are fighting constantly and things respawn, for me it's a nice compromise.

Stuff like the lack of and inconsistent VO for large stretches will be a far bigger deal than the non-demanding combat.

I saw that you can skew your post battle rewards a bit, maybe you could engineer it to be a little harder by getting the least amount of experience possible.

That has got to be one of the ugliest keychains I have ever seen in my life......

Looks like a fusion of Lisa and Homer Simpson

How is the removal of familiars affecting people's enjoyment of this? I have to admit, the familiars were one of the aspects I loved most about Ni No Kuni, so the fact that they've taken them out has me apprehensive about buying the sequel.

Somewhere
I absolutely love this game. 5 hours in, and I think I'm gonna be finishing this one within the week.

Haven't been this taken by a JRPG since probably Tales of Symphonia

I really want this gameeeee.

If I buy it from CDKeys, will I get my key instantly? Trying to save a few bucks.

Yeah, I'm ok with it being a little on the easy side. I play a lot of challenging games, and this can be a more chill experience. I'm there for the presentation and story.

But difficulty options would be a welcome addition.

Couple hours in. I really hope the game continues to contextualize game mechanics in the world and lore itself. It's wonderful at doing that so far.

UPS delivered my copy. Problem is I don't know where. Tracking data says, "left with man."

Shouldn't be too hard to find. /s

Yes, I got my key yesterday.

On another note, steam decryption is almost always slower than actually downloading the whole thing all over again, should've just waited for the unlock...

3rd chapter (I think) was a lot better than what came before it.
The town was beautiful and fun to explore. Music was good, but got abit too excited at the end of the loop.
The pacing was much slower, allowing enough time for the outcome to feel earned. The boss was visually satisfying and mechanically interesting enough to be somewhat engaging.

The game pauses when you tab out. Not a fan.

Game looks fucking great though. The Tales studio have some catching up to do.

I have my nits to pick with Level 5, but I still can't believe that a JRPG has released on a home console in 2018 complete with such near-extinct concepts as a world map and actual cosmetic costumes for the playable cast that you don't need to pay $3-10 for each.

God I can't wait to get home and dig into this. Only a few more hours...

I was replaying Ni No Kuni 1 last week in preparation for this game. My hot take after about 3 hours of playing is that I vastly prefer the new battle system to the familiar system. Your allies aren't complete idiots in battle who spam all their mana and die instantly in a fight, and I find the real time character combat more satisfying to use than the familiars. That being said the monster designs are in general nowhere near as charming or memorable as most of the familiars in the first game (so far). We'll see if that changes, but so far the monsters have kind of been a mix of pseudo-realistic and more in line with the first game, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

1) has anyone tried playing with half xp for the challenge?
2) for those that have it can someone explain why the enhanced version of Roland's skill has 4 white higgledies at the left?
