I think the only localization change that I don't get is why they call the Florist "Kage" in the earlier ones. I understand them changing Kazama to Fuma to reduce confusion, but this one is just weird.
I'm guessing they simply thought "Florist" was too uncool of a name (even though they do refer to him as a florist) and thus decided to change it for something else that's still relevant to his role and... Japanese, I guess!I think the only localization change that I don't get is why they call the Florist "Kage" in the earlier ones. Yeah, the name change was just another silly change. At least Yakuza 4 changed his name to the more accurate "Florist" title. Yakuza 3 also renamed the orphans dog "Mami" to "Rex" because why not? Again, changed back for Yakuza 4 thankfully.I think the only localization change that I don't get is why they call the Florist "Kage" in the earlier ones. Yeah, the damage of the tiger drop in 6 and Kiwami 2 is lesser than previous games. Best damage I managed on the Tiger Drop in Kiwami 2 was going into ultimate heat mode and then tiger drop'ing enemies (also worth noting - in Kiwami 2 when going into ultimate heat mode the window for the tiger drop widens even more to comical levels, I actually managed to parry almost every hit Amon threw at me at one point. Felt so darn good!)
The coolest thing about 6's tiger drop thanks to the new physics engine though is the fact that you can cause a domino effect if you do it in close proximity to other enemies - hit one with it and you can send him flying backwards into other enemies smacking them as well. Its cool to watch, even if its not all that effective damage wise.
Glad someone noticed lol.
Yeah there are. Nothing you absolutely need to know or anything, but it's fun to notice if you've played the games before.Yo Yakuza era...
Playing through 4 right now so I can play 5 and be ready for 6. Just had a quick question - are there certain sidequests from 4 which are relevant in 5? I noticed this happen from 3-4 so I wanna make sure I don't miss anything.
Really, really excited to jump into 5. Now to duck outta the thread to avoid spoilers.
I really love Kiryu's hilarious walking animation in 3/4. He straight up walks like he's got a giant stick shoved so far up his ass it's beading out into his nasal cavity xD
The Yakuza series, bringing families together ;)I gave the Y6 demo a try and man...the change of engine really shows the seamless building interiors add so much more to an already immersive city. Of course i didn't finish the demo, i'm keeping anything story related for when i get my hands on the full game.
Also, my SO finally ended up trying Yakuza thanks to the demo of Y6 and now she's interested in trying the serie. \o/ Hurray!
The (Yakuza 6 Chapter 2 boss)
Akiyama fight was so ridiculous I half expected a heat action where Haruto blocks an attack with a rattle.
This is the game they choose to go the extra mile for?? lmao why.I'm watching the SEGA stream, and they said Kiwami 2 will have the licensed music. They also added a "sorry" because they're aware that might not be a good thing to some fans lol.

What's that about the comment that this may be a bad thing though? I know nothing about the licensed stuff in K2.
Wow I... See. It's pretty weird that in a way I think the new one is more fitting for that scene but I still would rather have the original :( oh well.
Kiwami is best thought of as an expansion for 0. Yes it's a remake of the first game, but it's self structured as a sequel/dlc for 0 now and has cutscenes/side content that directly references 0. 0 is best thought of as retroactive continuity, with the designers basically setting a new entry point of the series at 0 instead of the first game.I'm about to introduce myself to the world of Yakuza soon. A friend of mine is nearly done with Yakuza 0 and I'll be getting it off of him in a trade.
He also has Kiwami, which I'm debating if I should grab from him as well.
So my understanding is, one could start with Yakuza 0? Where does Kiwami fit in all of this? Should they be played back-to-back?
A lot of people lavish high praise on 0, is Kiwami a worthy supplement/follow up to that?
Help me get started, guys.

yay another one down. Great game, but not my favorite. I thought the story was meh, but I am really not a fan of prequels at all to begin with. Much better than 5. I think 2 is my favorite still.
I disagree. Why should it?Well, since they locked my thread for no reason I will post this here.
The chat-live sexy whatever it is for Y6 is sexist. Should have be censored. Period.
Oh, this totally slipped my mind!
To the person who specifically asked many pages back in this thread, and to those who're generally interested about Binary Domain, I managed to ask Producer-san Daisuke Sato about Binary Domain while at the Gallery Nucleus event. I had my chance while he was autographing my Yakuza 6 "Essence of Art" book, which is why you won't hear this on the Q&A video from the art gallery.
Anyway, I asked him "Will we ever see a return to the Binary Domain series?"
And... he just laughed. That was it. That was his answer. So take that as you'd like, but that seemed like a pretty definitive "never again" to me. As someone who also enjoyed BD: sorry, guys!

No reason? You posted a video playlist that you made which could count as self promotion. And no it shouldn't be removed as it fits fine in the context of the game.Well, since they locked my thread for no reason I will post this here.

Same here. I played them all back to back and 0 was definitely in a league of its own. I enjoy the story of every Yakuza game a lot, but there's always compromises and really dumb plot points that I have to overlook, even in 2, but 0 is so tight and cohesive in its narrative, and they really nailed the dual protagonist format.I guess some people don't like the expository nature of 0's narrative and prefer the simpler storylines of the other games. After doing 0, 1, 2, 3, and half of 4 so far though, I've gotta say that nothing has hit the highs of 0 for me. Best protagonist and villain characterization, great chapter cliffhangers, and excellent music and tone to wrap it all together nicely.
