If you talk to the barmaid at ancient Spire Outpost she mentions that Filthy Rich Semmens treasure is buried on that very Island. This person was an alpha player upon a Google inspection so it looks like they put a treasure on this Outpost for him. Has anyone found this treasure yet and if so where?

Dan nerd cubed called it a AAA mobile game?

Not sure what he means by that.

But yeah they need to fill this world with content. I mean islands feel empty. Be nice to have some NPC's running around. Maybe even NPC ships and such. World feels vacant. I would like to play near people with 1 or 2 crews when i am playing solo. I dont want to go up against larger ships when I am in solo, but small ships are fine. I havent had anyone try to screw me yet.

I did pick up a chest that makes you drunk when walking with it. That was fun.

I'm done with this game. This is a complete waste of my fucking time.
3 hours wasted because those stupid random player fucks kill me and steal my treasure every time I want to sell it to the merchant. Fucking terrible.

There are a total of about 7-8 outposts on the map to turn in quests at. No way are there players manning all 7-8 of those outposts. Because you played it terribly, you blame the game. Perhaps you did not realize that this is a Pirate game and that there are other players in the world. If you understood that part, you would know if you have cargo on your boat, you would do your due diligence to scope out your out destination from afar and if you see another ship then set sail for a different out post. A solo Sloop can out run a 4 man ship easily. You say "fucking terrible" I would think based on what happened to you it was more that you were "fucking terrible" at the game by not scoping out your destination. I get the 3 hours wasted with what happened, but really, you only have yourself to blame for having 3 hours worth of cargo and not keeping an eye out. I hope you give it another go, I love playing it solo as well with a group and in both cases, solo or group, I always and our team always kept a close eye on our surroundings. We even joined another group of 4 to take on a Skelly fort and we all agree to split the loot. When we did, we noticed which outpost they were going too and decided to go to a different one because you never know the intentions of other pirates. They could of easily played nice at first and when turning in they could of attacked us. The game only allows 16 players per instance, max of 4 total ships, so chances of finding and unmanned outpost to turn stuff into is high. It is just a matter of being careful and scoping things out.

This game is really special. There are a lot of legitimate concerns and this is not a game that everyone will enjoy. It lacks many things we take for granted. No XP, just reputation, no progression as in better equipment, no story, it is simply a big sandbox. Which, alone is not that special. But man, in just 3 hours, I mean, I can't remember the last time a laughed so much in a Coop game. So much epicness and fun. Truly a unique and special experience. The unique experience its biggest selling point.
This, so much. After a few hours I feel like I've had enough, though. But then I keep wanting dem chests. I have a problem.

I like them and really hate seeing how decisive the reception has been but I really hope it leads to a success story from them eventually.

Duncan said in a fairly recent (last week?) interview that they expected some division with it. I hope it becomes "great" too, but I'll be brutally honest--I'd rather a swing and a miss than a forgettable, play by numbers experience. We have too many games doing the same thing. This is, at times, a breath of fresh air.

1.) It's a game about being a pirate.

2.) Why did you wait 3 hours to turn your stuff in?

Normally I dislike it when people criticize how someone plays, but why would you not turn in any of your loot to one of the myriad outposts for apparently a THREE HOUR window, then be incredulous that you lost everything as a result? And yeah, the primary social dynamic is risk from other crews.

No safe zones is complete bullshit. This game is full of assholes who steal your treasure and your boat in the village. What a mess, so many hours of progress lost because of these ****

I learned the hard way never to go to an outpost with another ship docked or nearby when I wanna turn in my loot. Haven't had an issue since. Last night my friends and I were hanging out at an outpost and a couple of guys passed by us, the second guy had a captain's chest so we murdered them, cashed it in, and ran to their ship and took the rest of their treasure and sank it.

It just has to be done, they'd have done it to us if they could.

Pirates. They're called pirates.

Also, this, hahaha.

Per the video, seems like there will be an update early next week, which should include some fixes for the Xbox One X. Hawk269 Railgun

Edit: added the video with the timestamp to the X stuff

I was able to get on last night at 11 pm PST, played for a couple of hours solo and had a blast.

Sank my ship a couple of times, which, I won't lie, looked fucking awesome on a 55 inch 4K TV lol.

It kinda sucks having to ask and look everything up, but at the same time I'm glad it doesn't hold your hand.

One thing I do disagree with on with a lot of people is I don't want this to become Pirate Destiny. I like their vision and cosmetic progression I just want more enemies, more mission variety, more active AI and living world etc. basically more of what's already there. So I agree with you.

Same. I love what's here, but I need more of it or else it won't hold my attention long term.

I have also the feeling that they removed things (potions store for example) on the last stages of development. I think Rare are being very cautious about what to add or not.

As I said days ago on the alphas thread, adding more and more elements and mechanics is =/= good game design. I don't know if adding npc ships, and some sort of solo campaign, and a lot of things people ask would have made a better game, or simply a more conventional one.
The more I play the game the more Im okay with the idea of NPC ships that carry some decent loot to steal. There could be a merchant ship that carries a few animals and some boxes of tea thats less aggressive and a pirate ship that carries chests, antiquities and skulls thats more agressive and will fire on sight. Keep the designs specific from player ships so seeing another player ship is still an "event".

This is probably easier said than done but theres been times where I havent seen another player for 2-3 hours despite staying in the same region. Itd be great if the game could tell "Theres low population in this region of this instance" and then increase the odds of an npc ship spawning in that area.

Just something to get people out of workmanlike drudgery of "Go here, come back, now go there, repeat" that a lot of players seem to fall into if they dont meet other ships because early quests keep the maps very close to where you are. To me its not that different from finding loot on randon islands or in a shipwreck. Just an additional spice that could help add more memorable moments in a session.

Last night in my 2-hour play session I only ever ran into another crew (I did see other ships on the horizon but I kept my distance.

I was nearing an island when one guy started shooting at me but his crew mate told them it wasn't worth it lmao.

Just finished my first 2 hours of the game with random 4 player crews.

Incredible stuff. I really want to keep playing and grinding these voyages. The cosmetics look cool too.

Haven't played something this unique in ages.

This game is probably 10x more fun with friends and voice chat.

If I remember Rare only wanted real players to control ships, but yeh, more stuff to shoot while at sea. Ghost ships have been ideas mentioned, which would work as a way to not confuse it with player ships.

To people who are enjoying this game, how long did it take for the game to click for you? I'm getting to about 2 hours in and most of it has felt incredibly boring.

Took about 3 hours into one of the scale tests. It was me and 3 friends engaging another galleon in a storm. The ups/downs of that was the "click" for me.

I don't really like it solo, tbh.

Also, if you like playing dirty while solo:

1. Get a gunpowder barrel and rifle and set up the gunpowder barrel next to the gold merchant.

2. When you see a ship approaching your current outpost, let up your anchor and drop the sails but hop off the boat as it heads away, giving the impression your leaving the island to flee.

3. Set up in a position where you have a clear sightline to the gunpowder keg you placed earlier and not too much ground to cover in order to pick up the chest and turn it in before their teammates retaliate.

4. Boom.

Thats why I mentioned the player ships being an event (which i think was their rationale behind no npc ships?) but it can be such a killer for new players to not meet anybody for long periods.

Like it doesnt have to be constant npc ships all the time, but i think theres ways to handle npc ships that are within the spirit of the game without making it "more conventional".

If I play solo and level up my rep in different factions, what happens when I join a game with friends? Do we each just have our own rep level and the quests we do together get all of us rep?

Edit: watching now, they're going over a lot of technical issues in detail. I'll add anything interesting (like anything re: "no content" stuff).

This is how you should be updating players in a service based game. Seems we'll have a client side update next week (probably Monday or Tuesday) and they'll probably be watching how it goes over the next week with players and scale. Then they probably will drop the live campaigns sometime the week after or late next week I would presume.

Devil's Ridge. I've seen learned that's a known bug.
Cheers.

I've not been on often enough for it to be a major issue, just staying clear of those missions for the time being until we get some patch notes/updates. I'm getting more skulls from wrecks than I was doing the early quests, so it hasn't slowed my levelling all that much for now.

I'm canceling any bounty going there. Otherwise, all have worked fine (for now?).

Yeah this is brilliant customer interface right here. Way better than a faceless blog post. Linking the YT vid here for ease of use. Well worth a watch.

Just finished an 6 hour session.... what a great time.... did the pirate ford raid.... took about an hour... got about 6 chests, some rare tea chests, and chalices... about $10k after done and turned in.

The greatest part of today was the random 4 people I joined, and the captain knew his sailing...so we went to battle many a time against other ships and he had us running a tight ship... taccing the sails, port starboard calls, etc... it was intense...

so much fun this game is
