Are there costumes in this game at all?
Probably going to buy anyway but curious.

Yes. Each character has a couple of different costumes that are earned via quest rewards or by finding treasure chests on the world map. Some are palette swaps but each character has at least one unique.

The very last quests you unlock give each character another unique costume that requires materials from the final postgame dungeon (same materials you need for endgame gear, so prioritize accordingly)

Did this game change from the prequel? Is it no longer a Studio Ghibli co-production?
Based on the rpgsite review, it is not. I didn't know either before reading it.
Despite it being their first co-developed title, Studio Ghibli was able to accomplish so much with Level-5 with their decades of experience capturing the imaginations of children and adults the world over. And while Studio Ghibli turned down the opportunity to take part in the sequel, those same trappings from the original Ni no Kuni are still ever present here in Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

I order from both sites (from Europe) but haven't noticed any significant differences in the way they pack their shipments. Being from Europe I also don't know if they pad more for international shipping. They usually send stuff in a slightly larger than needed box, with some standard air cushions thrown in. I would order from Amazon UK if I were you, because otherwise you will receive the German version of the game. I assume the game will be playable in English but German game boxes have these huge ugly USK age ratings on the cover and the game is called "Ni No Kuni 2: Schicksal eines Königreichs" in Germany so you might get that on the box, lol. Unless they make one single King's Edition for all of Europe, like Nintendo often does. I haven't seen any retail unboxings of the King's Edition yet, so can't confirm. If they do send you the German game it'll look like this

Edit: Nevermind, found an unboxing video of the retail version of the King's Edition. Looks like Bamco made one single version for Europe, so it doesn't matter where you order it from. You'll get the game with all of the age rating stickers on them.

Thank you for that. Guess it doesn't matter where I get it from . I got the SNES Classic from Amazon UK and it came a fair bit beat up.

Do you mind sharing the unboxing video?

I have the entire 1st hour of the game recorded in raw 4K/60 + HDR, but due to the embargo I cannot post it until launch day. :O

Should I buy a ps3 to play 1 first or is this stand-alone enough?

Maybe I'll wait for a chance at a 1 rerelease...

So, amazon is going to ship my game on Saturday. Might aswell cancel my order.

I was about to order the game and with two day shipping(should've been here friday with that option) and the delivery date was March 27th. For release day delivery they wanted $4. Amazon just sucks now. 2 day shipping has turned into 3 days for me now.

The 1st one is full of charm but I dropped it due to the fighting system which sucked. This entry looks much better in that regard... I definitely wouldn't buy a console just for that game.

Amazon charged me but my order hasn't shipped. Not sure if that's happened before. The weather where I'm at wasn't catastrophic but I hope it doesn't delay the game!

I know a lot of us haven't gotten our hands on the game yet, but has anyone figured out the optimal way to tune the tactics tweaker?

Does the Japanese VA have more scenes/lines recorded or is it the same? I find the switch from VA to silent so jarring.

Doesn't help that I just finished Divinity: Original Sin II, where even the Narrator is voiced. (to great effect I might add)

Looks wonderful. Wanted to love the first game but that was impossible due to the combat I ended up hating.

Hard to say if the sequel will be for me despite the real time change...

Too bad they never did an current gen version of 1, what a hugely missed opportunity. :/

Besides that, EU Special Edition is coming friday!!! :)

• Is 4K supported? Yes!
• Is there Ultrawide support? Yes!
• What are the FPS options? The game has three options: 30, 60 or uncapped.
Nice! The other stuff should be standard, but this is going above and beyond.

Knowing that I could play this at 3440x1440 with 100 FPS makes it a lot more enticing.

So the consensus with the Pro version is avoid 4k mode? Seems like it has some frame pacing issues. I'm assuming it has an option to let us choose, like a performance mode?

You won't get enough points to unlock every switch (you can spend kingsguilders to reset all switches back to zero. This isn't to be confused with moving points around each section, as you can adjust elemental defenses and such freely once they're unlocked with a maximum of 10 total points)

For the people who already own it, are the digital preorder bonuses (if there are any) worth having?

Just dropping in to once again state that the voice acting is top notch and those who don't like it are objectively wrong, ok bye!
