Oh no, some 18-year-old overheard something out of context and tweeted about it. F1 is dead.

From the way they worded it when they announced it, I expected it to come out in .. late April at best. Dunno why people were so optimistic about a first race release.

Another horrible idea imo. I have no problem with the commentators shutting up once in a while so that people could enjoy raw footage, but for an entire lap and with the purpose of adding dramatic music? Besides now that F1 TV will be available in many countries people will be able to decide themselves if they want to watch the main coverage or for example switch to driver cam(s).

There's a guy here in Brazil that in every race he narrates he says "sobe o som" (something like "turn up the volume") during onboard shots and stays quiet for a minute. I think it's pretty cool, to be honest.

This. Let them decide the moment and it could work out just fine. Especially if it focuses on a tense battle or shows various angles.

I have no problem with the commentators shutting up every now and then to allow the appreciation of the engine noise (or in the current formula, the tires squealing).

I have a huge problem with a mandated 3 minutes of musically accompanied "action" breaking up the natural flow of the race.

I'm waiting for Liberty to allow drivers to swing a few punches after qualy or race when they're in a feud with each other.

I feel like Kimi could take pretty much everyone in a one-on-one fist fight. Got that old-man strength.

It's surprising to me Kimi is still in F1. I think Ferrari forgot about their second car and he was just sitting around.

Ferrari: Kimi, want to drive for us again?
Kimi: *no response*
Kimi handler: That means, "Sure, I guess."
Kimi: *mildly disgruntled sigh*

Bummed about F1 TV not being ready for this weekend. I'm still hoping for a surprise drop. I guess I'll have to do a trial of Sling TV to get ESPN for this weekend.

I mean, it doesn't even make sense. There's no fade. Just hair and then no hair. What does it mean. Is he trying to pull off a Ronaldo Fenomeno haircut? Does it represent the two halves on his carrer, red bull and ferrari? Did he start to lose hair due to increased stress because of the Singapore incident? What does it mean??

It's a real shame F1 TV isn't ready for this.

Looking at the TV guide, I think ESPN is only gonna show FP3 (which is a lot more than I expected from them to be fair).

The music sounds dumb, but a lap or two of commentator silence with cranked up car audio is cool in Nascar.

ESPN3 looks to have FP1 and FP2. ESPNews has FP3. ESPN2 will have qualifying, looks to be a pre-race show called "On the Grid" and race. They also looked to be showing replay of the race on ESPN2 at 8 AM PST and on ESPNews at 10 AM PST and 6 PM PST.

Don't mind me, I'm just dropping this off while doing an Emirates Flying Lap.

I get that they're going for a sleek modern look, but it just looks cheap.
That's the thing. It doesn't look modern or sleek. It looks amateurish.

It's good they want to change things up but I don't know if this is really making anything better than what we had last year.

Last year the onscreen graphics were broken for the entire season, so let's at least hope they get that right...

Holy crap, we're racing in like 16 hours. I saw they added a third DRS zone after turn 12... I have no idea if it'll help. The issue isn't that cars can't get close in sector 3, it's that the final corner separates everyone so much in this generation of car. Just make the entire Melbourne track one free DRS zone or something. Unrelated, but also please bring back free DRS use in qualifying from 2012 so we can slaughter every track record by another 2 seconds this year.

Lmao, Vettel's hair.

Liberty doesn't seem to understand that applying American broadcasting style to an European sport doesn't work.
