That's what I thought as well. Big mistake. Even the level 20 phylake still managed to own me good.Level 27. Have nearly all gear max upgraded. Come at me Phylakes
Do you mean races or tournaments? I can only win the first two tournaments. Haven't tried the races because the tournaments were already kicking my ass. I gave up on them and upgraded the skill that enable vendors to sell you better gears, got my legendary horse that way.Won all the races at the Kanopus Hippodrome and got my legendary horse, not doing that again.

The patrols only made things worse as well. It's essential to lure the phylakes from the road before engaging them.
I managed to kill the level 25 phylake previously, but somehow I got owned by a level 20 one. But yeah, from my experience, the main key to dealing with phylakes is patience. Sometimes my patience wears off due to getting bored doing the same moves/counters over and over again, and that might kill me. I tend to try different move/combo or weapon when dealing with them, and that's where I failed. You can beat the level 20 Phylake by being good at parrying. I'm playing on hard and he was the toughest enemy I've faced in the game so far by a mile but he's definitely beatable if you employ the right strategy.
How many side missions are there and what's the level cap?
I'm like maybe halfway into the story but I'm up to like 90 side quests completed and haven't even hit the whole map. Currently at level 38.
I beat Ptolemy's Fist at 20, he's 22. Basically ran around to confuse him and make him lose focus, then assassinated him until his health was gone. :pYou can beat the level 20 Phylake by being good at parrying. In particular, for Assassin's Creed Origins, which only dropped 36% in its second week on sale. This is an unusually low drop for a second week of a major AAA game, and suggests the franchise may be set for a comeback, too. The decent second week was boosted by an improved performance for the Xbox One version of the game, which has a cheaper average selling price compared to the PS4 edition (sales of the PS4 and Xbox One versions were 50/50 this week).
Glad to hear. Good word of mouth will give this game the legs it deserves. It should definitely be higher than that but so far those numbers sound good.
I am honestly afraid a lot of people will just walk by the box labeled ''Assassin's Creed'' because of Unity.

Overpower Combo, how does that skill work? I can't trigger it. Sometimes it shows "X for Combo" but that didn't work yet.
SteamSpy is also showing a stable growth for the game.
+1 for me. No idea.I got this early'ish on and I still have yet to do it with any consistency. Especially on certain weapons, I've never been able to do it with an axe, dual swords, or sickle sword. The tooltip for it never pops up and even if I press attack after doing the overpower nothing happens, tried both tapping it and holding it.
I used to love reading the codex in previous games so I am surprised its not in the game.Man this game needs a codex so bad
I have so many questions, why are the greeks in egypt? Why they treating egyptians like dirt? Who are all these different gods?
How is the frame rate in Alexandria?Playing on Ps4pro, and the latest patch 1.04 has now fixed the performance issues in cutscenes. The game is now the best performing AC since Black Flag.

Also not sure wether overpower is the charged R2 or the R1+R2 adrenaline attack thing.
Having no luck with the other weapons I tried out the Dual Swords.Overpower is the attack you can execute after your adrenaline meter has filled up. X+Y for me on Xbox controller with alternative controls.
Thanks! But what is the overpower attack? May have breezed past some tutorials early on. Is it the charged heavy or the adrenaline meter attack?Having no luck with the other weapons I tried out the Dual Swords.
Important note: The enemy can't die from the initial Overpower attack.
I used my Overpower attack with the Dual Swords and got the "X for Combo"(it's the light attack button) prompt. I hit the X-button repeatedly and Bayek kept stabbing the enemy. Brutality.
Ok cool. Thanks.Overpower is the attack you can execute after your adrenaline meter has filled up. X+Y for me on Xbox controller with alternative controls.
Adrenaline meter. Some weapons(spear, sickle swords,...) will put you in a rage mode and some others(dual swords, regular sword, axe,...) will execute a powerful attack. That powerful attack needs to be used for an Overpower Combo. Thanks! But what is the overpower attack? May have breezed past some tutorials early on. On the notion of side quests, there's a huge step-up from previous games, where these were so dumb they were more like activities or errands, not quests. Here at least we have all them voice acted and each has some unique twist to it, so it gives some impression of variety. However, most of them are still very shallow, mostly because...
... it gives Bayek no motivation to do these quests. Well, he's so kind of peoples' protector, but that's a stupid excuse. Otherwise, there's almost no negotiation about the reward, explanation why we should waste time on some quests, some of them being just errands. This makes Bayek feel like some spineless puppet who's used by everyone because he can't say no to them. Literally, you can't decline a quest. And some of them are questionable, like some dude seeking revenge or a tomb raider who's mad at the guards and you have to kill soldiers that may actually be innocent. But game doesn't see that as problem, because...
... there is no grey zone in side quest presentation. Every quest giver is a generically good guy, a victim, just because he said so. All the soldiers in the fort or wherever are bad guys because the game tells you so. You have no interaction with the other party whatsoever, which in the end makes the quests predictable and boring. There's only good side and bad side - the game allows no room in between. I tried to look deeper a few times, maybe the situation is different, but no, game forbids any other interpretation.
Quest design, like many other aspects of the game, takes a good step forward in this AC, but it's still not even close to something like Witcher 3.
