Not a bad idea. Good PR (I guess?) and at least all of that work will be put to use?

Good on them and for the creators. I'm surprised not a large number of corporations do this with cancel games.

There's something about seemingly limitless success that can make you very altruistic. Or maybe it's just guilt...

Looking forward to the Unreal Tournament assets released next year :)

Epic's handling of Paragon is pretty unprecedented, while its unfortunate the game is ending, its amazing they're doing what they can to refund their customers for all purchases made and now releasing their assets to be used. Its pretty damn amazing, good on Epic.

Man, this is kinda getting me hyped for epics NEXT real game after fortnite. It'll probably be more than a decade from now but damn, epics back on the map, seemingly bigger than ever. Can't wait!!

Right I know Tencent got money money money, but between this and refunding all Paragon purchases, just how much fucking money is Fortnite actually making them? My nephew was playing it during the weekend for ages and never once came to me saying he wanted to buy some microtransaction shit, unlike FIFA and Ultimate Team.

Paragon assets are going to be the starship troopers armor of the games industry. They'll be turning up as random grunts and background characters in low-budget games for years.

This is perfect for modders and students wanting AAA spec assets for reference with no legal naffery behind them.

Epic's money comes from engine licensing, so they can write this off as support expense. hell, nowadays, their games are just testbeds for new technology

Epic must be one of the best game publishers out there in USA.
they barely put out games now. does anyone even play their new mobile game?

That's....really generous. I'm no game designer or coder so I can't imagine how good of a reference point (whether for education or development) these assets will be, but it's more advantage to UE4 all the same.

The character designs range from fairly generic to pretty cool.
I checked out the game a few weeks ago just to see it before it disappeared and thought to myself"it's nuts that all of these character designs are just being thrown in the trash bin. I just hope Epic looks into putting some of the skins in their Unreal Tournament 4 alpha as skins"
And here we are with something better. Good on you Epic.

So I can hope someone remakes my most played game of this generation?

Hope this is what it means. If they released all of the assets, then they couldn't sue for copyright....correct? Or am I way off?

They just insisted that Battle Breakers and SpyJinx are still coming and will get new announcements soon.

I mention this because Epic's GDC conference is very soon.

They did the same thing with Infinity Blade a while ago, good on them.
Paragon's models were mostly pretty outstanding too, so that's some great looking free models for people to use. Hell, I might fuck around with them.

I feel sorry for the devs who put their heart into Paragon development. If it was released earlier and had a better pace of game, it could have done really well. Glad they've found their ground with Fortnite though.

Lol, all these people who never played Paragon giving props to Epic for this when they lied to the paragon community for years. But strategically, this is a good move by Epic so i have to give them credit.

That's pretty neat though. I'm sure this wouldn't happen if Fortnite wasn't literally printing money for them, but it's cool.

I wonder if this is a tax write off kind of situation?

Also here comes a bunch of Rule 34 and Asset Flipping titles on Steam lol.
