I kinda feel bad for having finished the JP version with all stuff almost done after this. Will still play the hell of the ENG version tho.

So happy about the Kiwami 2 localization news! Now I've got a "problem": I was planning on playing Yakuza 6 next month (I've only played Y0 and Kiwami), but now I don't know if I should wait until August and play Kiwami 2 before getting into 6

What would you guys recommend?

Have you guys listened to the Q&A with Daisuke Sato? There was some new Yakuza 7/Shin Yakuza info in there. Daisuke Sato said that the game will take place in locations never seen before in a Yakuza game (plus Kamurochô I assume). He also said that the game takes place after Yakuza 6 and that players will see some known characters (the question was about the future of Akiyama). I wrote a news post about all this for Gameblog: http://www.gameblog.fr/news/74143-yakuza-7-decors-personnages-son-producteur-donne-les-premier.

Managed to make it to the Yakuza art gallery event and will talk some details later. It was a wonderful feeling being in that room when Kiwami 2 was being announced, though! Place just blew up!

Also, the Kiwami 2 steelbook edition looks absolutely amazing:

Good stuff, I missed the questions section and that's very interesting indeed :)

I was personally guessing Kamurocho and Osaka again for Shin RGG - as I'm assuming the Omi will be the main baddies, so going back to Osaka made sense but I guess not going by that comment. Kamurocho is definitely back though, I can't imagine it not being in. I wonder where else the game will be set?

And yeah, I can't see them ditching the older characters either, so it makes sense they'd cameo throughout Ichiban's story. Can't wait to find out more throughout the year when they show off Shin RGG proper.

Oh, and that steel book for Kiwami 2 looks amazing. Time to pre order it! Still surprised at the date though, its less than a year since the Japanese release, that's some pretty impressive translation speed from the team (guess it helps that they could maybe use the old translation as a base? I mean, the cutscenes are all the same. But even then there is a ton more text in Kiwami 2 to translate).

The cabaret management in Yakuza 2 was easily the most fun I've ever had. 0's doesn't come close.
Have you played Kiwami 2? As they changed the Cabaret Club for K2 to be basically identical to 0's, as opposed to the way it was done in Yakuza 2 and 3 (well, the Japanese version of 3 anyway).

I personally disagree though, Kiwami 2 was much better for getting a 0 style club system. I had loads of fun with it and the storylines and returning characters where as I never really got on with Yakuza 2's version.

I mean the level of customization. Changing the furniture, carpet, decor, adhering to client tastes. It felt like you were the owner, not a shift manager.

I know, I just didn't really like that stuff. I preferred the way Kiwami 2 and 0 did it myself, I found it more fun gameplay wise. I had the issue where I actually got the Yakuza 2 version into an unwinnable state because I chose the wrong options and didn't have enough money to change them. Tanks the entire side story which sucked :( Ended up just using a guide for the best choices. Ditto with Yakuza 3's version.

I managed around it somehow. Think I just wound up pawning stuff. I enjoyed the relaxed pace of the management system, I guess.

Wasn't your club money separate from your main cash reserve? Or was that just for profits? As I don't remember ever getting any extra cash to use in the mode. But its far from an ideal scenario. But that was the old games to a tee - there were some side stories in 2 especially that could be failed so easy if you didn't do exactly the right thing right away! (like the surprise party side story). Kinda glad Kiwami 2 relaxed things in that regard.

New location is always good but I'd like them to expand Kamurosho first. Please let me cross Showa dori street already. Adding Shinjuku Sataion is also a great idea :D

I support this idea. Also, fully explorable Kamurocho hills please. Its been a tease for so darn long. Its finished as of Yakuza 5, yet because of 6's cutbacks you couldn't get to it :( I want Shin RGG to correct that. But I really wouldn't be surprised if
the Omi have it torn down as its Majima's/Tojo Clan's large source of revenue.

Would be kind of hilarious if they turned it into Hobo town again lol

I don't think it would be a smart move though.

Having the Yamanote in Yakuza would be pretty great. Imagine Kamurocho blended with the subway system in P5.
I would be very happy if they did this. I'd probably spend an hour marveling at the subway system like I did in GTA 4 (which was actually pretty impressively built). I'd love the series to expand the game world out more in that way - introducing more areas in closer proximity to each other.

Decided to finally pick up Yakuza 0 again after putting it down for a bit while I played Monster Hunter. Im still super early in the game, just started the cutscene where you meet Oda and the Tachibana Real Estate guy.

Is there a way to repair special weapons you get from side missions. I got the Sunburst katana earlier today from one but I dont want to use it that much unless theres a way to repair it.

Is there any recommended must do side content? I want to finish the game before 6 comes out and theres no way I will be able to do all of them before then. Anything with really good rewards or story lines that stand out from the rest? I dont mind picking them up when I come accross them, im not rushing or anything.

--

Also, with regards to Kiwami 2: Its built on the same tech/engine as Yakuza 6 right? Are there transition scenes for fights like in 0 or are the seamless like in 6?

Built on the same engine as Yakuza 6 and i believe they made some improvements too.

Seamless just like in Y6.

Nice, I thought that was the case but wasnt sure. Do we know how the Saving/Loading works in 6 and Kiwami 2? As in does it require the save and system save that previous games required even on PS4?

--

Another Y0 question: Regarding the different combat styles, are there instances when its recommended to switch stances? Are there enemy types where one fighting stance is much more effective compared to another? So far ive been using Brawler mainly and only switching jsut to check out the other stances. Havent really seen a need for the other 2 yet.

You can save at any point in the game by simply opening the pause menu and using save (Kiwami 1 also has this option btw).

Y6 and Kiwami 2 also have auto save which is a godsend. It's like a video game that wasn't made during the PS2 era!

--

There's really no NEED to switch from the default stances. I guess switching to Beast mode is effective if you're up against a huge crowd but otherwise, it's just personal preference.

If you use the Charismatic Autobiography though, then you gotta use all the styles.

For any of you who have played Yakuza 6 - I'm missing a hostess. I invited Hikaru on a date, but she's not in theater square and I can't select her at the club. Did I mess something up?

So is the steelbook already sold out in NA? It says it's unavailable on Amazon.

I'd be really surprised if it actually were. I checked Amazon about 2 hours after the page for it popped up, and it already said it was unavailable. If it actually sold out that fast, then that'd most likely mean they made far fewer copies of the Kiwami 2 steelback edition for some strange reason. You can STILL find tons of copies of the Kiwami 1 steelback edition for dirt cheap, after all! Plus Amazon is the only retailer I've seen that's even posted their page for it, so my guess is the pre-orders aren't fully up for K2 yet.

I will post this here because none of the other thread gave a single fuck.

"One question: Can the localization team use OG songs from Y2 like "Block Head Boy", "West Insanity", "The Grudge" and the most badass:

Because "Push Me Under Water Remix" all the time just plain sucks."

So I was just casually browsing my trophy list right now and noticed that Yakuza 6 also appears on my list now and it seems to have synced up perfectly fine online? I'm guessing we do get to keep our trophies after all from the "demo."

How rare is this Ichiban Yakuza 4 box / pre-order bonus thing?

Any of y'all have this?

Also, is that Kiwami 2 JP Limited Edition still available new anywhere? I think I gotta pick that up now that we aren't getting any kind of CE for the localisation.
Huh, I've never seen this. I know there are different steel books of 4 (Kuro and Shiro, I think?), but yeah, this is new to me.

I think it's highly doubtful the localization team would make such a big change from the Japanese release. Ideally, it'd be super cool if there was an option to switch between the original Y2 soundtrack and the Kiwami 2 version on the fly, but that's unfortunately not what happened.

Goddammit just realized that you don't have to do everything to get 100% in Y0, it only needs to be the CP points.
Here i was completing the full list, got all the heat moves and was trying to get every weapon and pocket circuit part and its not need, damn i did a lot of hours that didn't needed to do.

1's steelbook was the standard edition of the game though. 2's is a special edition with who knows how many copies printed.

Yea the Kiwami steelbook was eveywhere and it still can be found, i had do got out of my way on launch day to get a normal plastic version because most places only had the steelbook edition.

That Kiwami 2 steelbook is nice but nope i got stay way from it.

Controversial opinion on the Yakuza 2 soundtrack stuff - I don't want Shindo's old boss theme back (Grudge I think it was called?). It seems that many people really like it, but I vastly prefer his new boss theme, listening to the two side by side the new one just appeals to me way more, goes with the character more as well. One of the most memorable tracks in the game for me.

Oops! 100% requirements vary from game to game. Yakuza 5 actually requires you to do absolutely everything and that unsurprisingly takes a long time! Yakuza 3 is slightly more merciful in some regards, in only requiring 100% mini game completion (but that in and of itself is incredibly tough) while Yakuza 6 only requires you to complete a small chunk of the completion list (making it the easiest one to clear).

Yeah i thought is was like Y5, only realized last night it wasn't because i was google searching for the odds the dream machine had on pocket circuit parts. Well at least it saves me the time on that, also don't need the get the rare amulets in agent searches anymore i guess.
