Yakuza Kiwami 2 localization announced for the west. August 28th 2018 (PS4)

Honestly? I think I can wait for kiwami 2, then watch a video summary of 3-5 before playing 6. I'll do that.
Optional Objectives, that's why I suggested Premium Adventure. Play a chapter or two in a week, and so on, and finish and them take your time with subs and mini-games on the post-game. But if I'm so wrong okay them.
Oh yeah, I completely agree. I'm back to playing on Normal for my first playthrough. Yakuza 0 was the only game that felt right playing on Hard difficulty from the start.
I usually played Yakuza games on Hard, been doing so since 3, then 4 and 5, 0, K1 but K1 was a mistake on that side, so much hyperarmor and tracking it was more frustrating than enjoyable so, i assume K2 will be equally difficult, or more, so ill go Normal to be safe.
Kiwami 2 is not hard at all like Kiwami 1. Only the arena and Amon are hard. Go hard and them legend if you so wish.

This is a good advice. Play the story and do the substories that come your way if you feel like it. There is no reason to force yourself to do everything in the main campaign since you'll get to do any substory and activity that you haven't finished in the main game in Premium Adventure which will unlock after beating the main story. (and no you won't lose your progress on stuff that you have finished)

Played 0 at the beginning of the year, was resigned to go for Kiwami then 6, but happy to hold off until July to start K1 so I can slip straight into some K2 goodness before Y6.

So they're not far off then. Nice. I should probably get around to beating Yakuza Kiwami and getting Yakuza Zero then. I've been pushing them off for far too long
I'm terribly excited, if only for the Majima campaign (I actually didn't like the story in this game as much as the first one).
But I don't wanna poop on everyone's party, it's obviously awesome that this game will make it over so soon and I'm really happy that they managed to bring on the Yakuza double wammy again by giving us Yakuza 6 and Yakuza Kiwami 2 both in the same year.
Does that mean that we may get Fist of the North Star and Yakuza Isshin next year? (As unlikely as it is I'd still love it if that happened)

I don't mind playing 6 and then 2, it wouldn't be the first time I played a later entry in a series first and I just sort of "star wars" the plot in my head in the sense of "well you know the end of the story, now you're going to learn how the protagonist got there" when I play the earlier entry.
(and unlike star wars I know yakuza 2 (and 3-5, should there ever be a re-release) are going to be good)

Well I guess my Yakuza 6 is going to sit there for a bit longer now that I have to wait for Kiwami 2 but it'll be so worth it.
I'd be playing Kiwami 1 right now if I could finish Zero but I've misplaced it when I moved house in December.

I thank you for you feedback. Seeing as I am digging into these for the first time I am a bit overwhelmed by everything. I know it's not a sequel to Shemue but being a big fan of the Shemue series it feels quite similar. I looked into what Premium Adventure is and I will go that route for the sub stories I care about. Thanks again!

Loved Zero, my first Yakuza game...6 will be my next them this my 3rd. Ive no time to "fill in the gaps" with the other games in the series so will just wing it and hope backstory is expalined along the way...

I was planning to get Yakuza 6 to play as my first game in the series... but based on people's impressions and now this release date, I think I might skip 6 and jump in with Kiwami 2...
Holy fuck so this is happening. Hopefully Hokuto and Shin follow the same path, thanks to 0 it seems like Sega is not only considering the West a big enough market for Yakuza, but it's also giving it a lot of love and care. So glad to see this series earn the love it deserves, and I'll definetely keep supporting them for as long as I can.
