I didn't care for any of the supernatural shit whatsoever. The crime/mystery/thriller stuff was much more entertaining. As well directed as the fights were, the dumb plot reveals were more satisfying lol. The dub was really nice too. I hope netflix keeps working with Production IG, but I dunno if I want another season of this show. If they decide to green light another season, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope they walk back on the anime bullshit and go all in on the crime/mystery stuff. I guess I'm just thirstin' for a good crime show lol.
No it was an announcement of them entering into a longer term business deal after these two shows. I think we can expect both studios to each have at least one or two more shows lined up in the future on Netflix.
This show is pretty entertaining. The characters are fairly likeable and the writing is decent. I'm at episode 8 now.
It's very much an anime developed for the Western market: it has almost zero cringey tropes like waifu's, fan service , annoying little girls BUT it keeps the zany action, stylistic shots, gory violence and basically anything else I like about anime.
It reminds of a mix between Zankyou no Terror, CSI and X-men.
Enjoying this quite a bit. As a matter of fact, I've been enjoying pretty much every anime production Netflix has been putting out. This one in specific I've been bringing since yesterday
Well, that was aggressively dumb. Well animated, well performed, Youtube clip show of top 10 anime fights with a script writer that was told to sew them together but with the minimum effort done in that regard too.
"I can't just tell you the answer, I have to show you. Meet me at the temple later."
*goes to temple*
*launches into lengthy dialogue exposition. Shows nothing. There's no reason to be at the temple.*
*oh hey, now they get to animate a fight scene at the temple*
I mean, I did watch the whole thing so yeah. Takes full advantage of anime action silliness and that's ok.
Well... one thing that annoyed me personally regarding the female cast.
Aside for the treatment of Lily (and I guess by extension Erika who was Keith's sister but shes adopted so it's totes ok that she was in --- grrraaaah) and Yuna, who are basically around to make Keith and Koku rage. Stripe em, stab em, put em on ice. Ick.
Just finished Episode 6, taking it at a fairly slow pace in between other things. All in all it's fairly entertaining; the characters are solid, if not remarkable for the most part, though I enjoy Keith Flick's scenes especially (as tired as the cliche he belongs to is), the text overlay they do for his thoughts is a very nice added effect to give the impression of just how much time he spends piecing things together.
The biggest I'm not sure about yet is the evil clown villains. With ep. 6 we actually learn who they are in a general sense, but I still have no idea much about their motivations besides doing bad things. I'm hoping we get more from them in the second half of the season.
A big highlight is just how good the dub's been. This is one of the best voice casts I've heard in a while. All the main cast feel very well acted.
Compared to other shows recently I'd say it's currently a fair bit behind Devilman and great leap ahead of Darling in the Franxx.
finished this today; was a very enjoyable series although Koku's story was pretty much your average anime trope. Keith's storyline was actually pretty good even though I did expect that person to be the killer. I do hope if their is a season two they focus on actual detective work , too much was focused on Koku and his story that none of the other RIS characters really shined other than Kieth and Lily and they both took a back seat as Koku and his enemies were immensely too OP for them. I wish we saw more of Koku and Yuna after his final battle; they just seem to lump at the end like"oh yeah...those to survived...the end" like we didn't even get to see them.
