What? Maoh Sairin was definitely a sequel and not just an expansion. The PS2 titles pushed naming convention up since what we know as Warriors Orochi 2 was actually a story expansion of Warriors Orochi/Musou Orochi with a different subtitle. From there on, Musou Orochi 2 was released on PS3 and became Warriors Orochi 3.
All I have to say, Koei Tecmo, is good luck, and you damn well better include the Spirit of Sanada cast in this mix, since the likes of Chacha are way too good to get stuck in one musou title.
Thanks for that. Now it actually makes sense. :)Tried to clear up the title a bit, this is confusing. @.@
It seems like they skipped numbering initially for the Japan titles.
Warriors Orochi > Musō Orochi
Warriors Orochi 2 > Musō Orochi: Rebirth of the Demon Lord
Warriors Orochi 3 > Musō Orochi 2
This announcement is for Musō Orochi 3, which will presumably just be named Warriors Orochi 4 outside of Japan.
Feels like this is the only way to go if they want some sales after the terribly disappointing DW9...
Probably not, but they definitely chose Orochi 3 over All Stars 2 when they saw the terrible reception of All Stars 1.Oh they planned and developed this game in the past few weeks?

I wonder how much of All Stars they'll recycle. Hopefully everything so we can forget that game existed.
Oh it'll be on Steam too and probably even Vita yet. Koei needs to hit every platform they can.Probably PS4/Xbone/Switch
even with KT's recent PC support, very doubtful they put it on Steam since none of the older WO games are on there, feelsbadman
The game is coming out this year. They had this in the works well before DW9 launched.Feels like this is the only way to go if they want some sales after the terribly disappointing DW9...
Yeah, it's nuts. I imagine that they'll at least cut the one third-party character that made it into WO3 Ultimate (Sophitia?!), but there's no telling about the rest of the roster unless they decide to do something like cut all of the non-Musou characters. (Which is entirely possible since Warriors All-Stars now exists distinct from WO.)Already thinking about the roster. What was it...145 characters in Ultimate? I wonder if/who they will add. Or if they will do a swap.

By the same token I'd also hope someone at Koei realized they had a stinker on their hands with DW9 well before it actually tanked in the market. If not then we should really be worried. The game is coming out this year. They had this in the works well before DW9 launched.
Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 (3ds version) had Hyrule Warriors Link and Zelda parts for the custom characters, but only in Japan. I wonder if there was some issue with NoA since that got dropped from the localization, even though Zelda is much bigger in the West.Well, if we do get a switch version, what if we got a few exclusive characters from the Nintendo spinoffs? Now that'd be sick
I actually like DW9, so in regards to that specifically, meh.By the same token I'd also hope someone at Koei realized they had a stinker on their hands with DW9 well before it actually tanked in the market. If not then we should really be worried.
To be fair, the WO3 updates all came from the game getting late ports. Wii U got Hyper, then PS4 and other systems got Ultimate. The main question is, how long till this game gets a sequel title since , Warriors orochi 1 had 3 technical titles (we got 2 of them) Warriors orochi 3(2 for them) had 3, vanilla, hyper, ultimate, and will we get them all. The baseline of characters should be the same as WO3 minus that soul calibur girl due to obvious licensing rights.
DW9 was more than likely due to the strike. but WO will not have a dub and i can tell you exactly why. 150+ characters. I dont expect WO to be dubbed in the near future. (if they dub it and use the original DW dub team i'd be very very surprised.)This game probably won't have a dub which made it so annoying to play WO3. They better not use the DW9 team either; stop being cheap, Koei.
I would almost be willing to bet what happened was that they negotiated the Zelda items before deciding to localize the games, and failed to take that into account when making the agreement.Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 (3ds version) had Hyrule Warriors Link and Zelda parts for the custom characters, but only in Japan. I wonder if there was some issue with NoA since that got dropped from the localization, even though Zelda is much bigger in the West.

yup just read a thing on reddit from one of the voice actors in 9, said the recording session was more or less a mess (they had to dub using the chinese track as a reference not the japanese original) and saw somewhere that they did intend to go with the original voice cast at one point but decided with a new crew. Hope if the KT community manager sees this that they can kinda give a heads up to the localization team to not cheapen out this time.I know why it won't be dubbed, I just don't agree with it. Lack of dub makes these games a huge pain in the ass to play. I'm 100% sure DW9 wasn't affected by the strike from what I've read, Koei was just cheap.
They called a warriors orochi 1 expansion warriors orochi 2 in the west.I get why DW's numbering is messed up but why is it the same with Orochi.
YES! I had a blast with WO3. My biggest grievance with that game, though, was that the SW characters felt overall weaker than the DW-based characters. But with this new game incorporating the SW4 mechanics such as the Hyper Attacks and improved Musou, I'm eager to see how this'll play out. :)
Didn't DW8 empires more or less declone everyone and even have a few movesets extra due to dlc?
