Thanks for posting this :) I forgot about that boss fight, love the intro. So glad they used Akiyama in this, he's always so a badass when he's on screen. Makes me hyped to replay this when I get hold of an English copy next month :)

Yeah Akiyama is one of my favorite characters in the series, I hope we get to play as him again in a future game.

I'm still relatively early into Kiwami (around 11-12 hours, Chapter 7) and I'm having no issues with the Majima Everywhere system. He's been showing up every now and then, but nothing really annoying, I really enjoy the system.

In my experience he started showing up more and more often as I progressed in the game. By the time I got to Premium Adventure he would pop up basically every time I walked from one side of the city to another.

Very interesting read, thanks! Yakuza 3 is one of my favorites because of the orphanage stuff. I think that it added a lot of depth to Kiryu as a character. And also because it rang true with stuff I've been told about growing up in an orphanage.

That being said, I finished my first Yakuza 6 play through today. It took me more than 50 hours (I did all the substories, all the Clan Creator missions and Clan Creator-related Trophies, all the baseball games, and a lot of elements from the completion list). I have 88% of the Trophies, I'm just missing the Legend difficulty Trophy and the "Peak Kiryu" Trophy (get him to Level 300). It took me a lot less time to get this far than in previous episodes.

At the time of the release of Yakuza 3, i remember that some didn't like the orphanage section, although i didnt a problem with it. On another note, i recently started playing Yakuza Kiwami.I'm halfway through the game (main story and substories), and i really like what i've played so far.It brings back memories of playing the original game back in 2006.

Played the first couple chapters of Ishin.

Wow, this game is very impressive so far.

Appreciated the music selection in the (Yakuza 2 fan service) bathhouse scene.

Finished Hokuto ga Gotoku. Fucking GOTY.
Wow. High praise indeed :) Really need to get a few more games off my backlog so I can dive right in. I have a feeling my opinion will be the same as yours (at this stage its either Hokuto or MHW as my GOTY unless Spidey is a Barman Arkham level of quality).

Played the first couple chapters of Ishin.

I know I say this a lot, but it gets better. Its the one Yakuza game I definitely recommend doing as much side stuff as more so than any other since the more you level up early the better the combat gets early on. Which in turn makes those later chapters all the better.

Yeah it's gotta be either K2 or (less likely but still not far fetched IMO) Hokuto.

Or maybe they'll announce they got their degrees in japanese shogunate history at long last.

Almost done Y0! At almost 90 hours in now! What a ride!

Just finished the Real Estate Royale. On the 5th Cabaret Club now, so that should be over with soon.

Anything else I should really look at doing before I finish things off? Did pocket cars, which was pretty cool, and I've finished all the substories I could find with the Trouble Finder. Haven't really touched any of the Chinese gambling games....most of them are way too complicated for me to learn. Don't think I'll bother with the Cat Fights or the Arena...the latter especially seems like a grind.

I really want that shirt. I even asked them about it on a stream, but they can't say whether it'll go up online on the sega shop.

I'm on the final chapter of Yakuza 0. I really don't want to finish it because I have been having such a great time.

Just got Yakuza 6's Platinum Trophy. Clearly the series' easier Platinum to get. Took me 58 hours total. No Trophy was frustrating to get and I enjoyed the experience from beginning to end.

Pro tip: make sure that Kiryu's stats are almost maxed out before you start your Legend run. That way, it'll be a walk in the park, even without the Golden Gun (which isn't in the game).

Alternatively if you kept a save file from your first run from just before the final boss, you can then reload said save after completing the game and just change the difficulty up and beat the boss again. This worked perfectly on the Japanese version, I assume they've not changed it for the English release?

But yeah, I agree - it is the easiest plat in the series but in a fun way. The challenge list being basically optional this time (you'll hit 100 challenges completed just by doing the rest of the trophies easy) takes much of the difficulty and length out of the trophy run, while still having tons of optional stuff for people like me who really enjoy aiming for 100% of in game stuff done!

Yakuza 6 has the first trophy list in the series that looks fun. It looks like there's almost nothing that I won't enjoy doing.

I have never really attempted to complete a Yakuza game let alone get a platinum, but I think I could finally give it a try with 6. Not only because it's "easy" but the game's size feels just right so that I won't feel overwhelmed, plus I'm in love with this game!

I saw that the trophy list is actually one of the easier, not as grindy ones compared to the other games, so I'm working myself towards the platinum as well. Sega said the trophies will be reset from the "demo", so I'm keeping separate save files for major milestones in my playthrough (except for the ones I got in the first 3 chapters, before Sega communicated their statement about the save files and trophies).

I've finally reached chapter 7. Working on some more side content before I will move on. Pretty much all sidequests have been great so far. They're either quite emotional or absolutely hilarious (mostly the latter). And I can never say no to not do a round in Virtua Fighter 5 or Fantasy Zone whenever I have the opportunity, hehe.

I didn't even think about trying that. But since I still needed to max out Kiryu's stats, my Legend run allowed me to do that without having to grind in Premium Adventure.

Breaking news regarding Hokuto Ga Gotoku
using spoiler tags just in case
X run option added to the game. Now you can run without holding × when you turn it off (the default setting is on). Maybe this is not new ;p

Playing Yakuza Kiwami at the moment and I just

rescued Haruka from the Chinese triad

How many hours do I have left till the end story-wise? I'd like to wrap it up before Ni no Kuni!

That's around chapter 10 I think. You've got around 5 chapters left, several of which have some pretty big fights (and a couple of long exposition cutscenes). If you solely focused on the story you could probably be done with it in 5-6 hours I think. If your doing side stuff/Majima stuff, way longer obviously!

I almost have the platinum without even trying. Such a drastic change from every other game. I dig it. The best plats are the ones you get just by having fun and zero grinding.

They're the dudes walking around in really shiny gold jackets. They don't try to pick a fight with you unless you bump into them.

We went from no Yakuza games to 5 Yakuza games since December 2015. What a crazy and great time to be a Yakuza fan.
