A certain someone is about to make a racing return.

EKhOUqC.png
Honestly I think Pastor would be an excellent touring car driver. He's too crazy to drive open wheelers, but the dude is really fast and touring cars can deal with some bumps here and there in a way that open wheelers can't. I'd love to see him on a competitive field like IMSA, WEC, Blancpain GT, DTM, Super GT, Aussie Supercars or Brazilian Stock Cars.

I see Maldonado is as good at hashtags as he is at driving.

For whose benefit is the hashtag #getting or the hashtags #ready, #to, #the, #new. I'm sure the hashtag #2018 has tons of racing enthusiasts.

Looking good? These are awful!! My eyes are bleeding.

-way too big
-danger zone WTF??
-the top half with the track graph and turn/speed indicator is completely unnecessary
-the speed and gear icons should be removed
-instead of all 8 gears have a single number that counts up
-the DRS indicator should also be a single icon
-add another icon to indicate flags

Yeah, they look very good. They're larger, cleaner and far more legible than the previous graphics. They should work well on smaller screens.

I also like that they're showing the turn number and the expected speed.

Really needs throttle and brake traces. Is it confirmed that the UK (C4/Sky) graphics will be in MPH now?

I have a well sorted 108K mile 06 330ci with ZHP package 6spd with Continental Extremecontact Sports. It's great fun and plenty fast for the street but I would love to run autocross and take it to the track every once in a while. It's my DD for now but when we get my fiancee a newer vehicle i'll take over her 07 Camry as my DD and my E46 will be free for more fun.

I'm looking forward to being able to tackle maintenance and repair work on it without having the extra stress and urgency of getting it done so I can get to work.

It's a bit loud and busy but definitely an improvement over the what I would call the mostly "stodgy" old F1. The outreach and opening up more of F1 to the fans and additional content they are producing is definitely welcome.

Ugh, can't say I'm a fan.
It's such a random mash-up of pictures & sound in your face, just one big "BLARGH".

Don't like the on-screen graphics either :
The speed number being big and bold I can get behind but then the 2 little icons are useless, nobody needs those, they're too small anyways.
The Gear indicator should just be a "rotating wheel with X +/- 1".
Turn number & expected speed is dumb, let's not even bring up danger zone, you can't focus on two numbers at the sametime and nobody is going to be looking at that indication instead of current speed.
Missing big time are brake and throttle pedal indicators as well as name of pilot & team...
G-meters were much more interesting.

Oh and... dat font, man :/

Looks even worse on the official F1 website, thing doesn't even fit in their containers and text gets cut off.
So unprepared and rushed... tssk tssk.

I can't believe I'll actually be glad that Codemasters does their own graphics for the games now.

I mean maybe they'll grow on me but right now they're everything I DON'T want. And I'm not talking about the presented information but the appearance, obviously.

They are trying to attract new people, so they are throwing things into the UI is useless for seasoned fans but very useful to new people. Literally no new fan could tell who is the better driver between Michael Schumacher and let's say Pastor Maldonado if you show an isolated qualifying lap on the same circuit. But showing the speed someone SHOULD take a corner will give the new viewer faintest indication of what's a "good" and "bad" driver. And eventually they'll learn, "oh take that corner to fast fucks you up for the next corner etc" and it'll be filled in by commentary of course. To be frank, the g forces were more of a fan-wank thing than the indicator speed. What's more useful, the speed one should take a corner or how much pressure is put on the body?

Their whole marketing campaign is about "How fans perceive F1 and feel the [engineered insanity]TM".
So you tell me, what's more relevant ? A visual representation of G forces or a number nobody is going to be able to watch and compare with the actual speed of the driver mid-action ?

You guys know that these type of videos never had the g-force graphic? Right?

The new graphics are much more readable. The throttle info isn't that interesting to me over the sound of the car giving that info, but they can add that if people want it.

That's a disconnection in their marketing department. They've spoken of trying to make it easier for new people to follow f1. If the UI is supposed match their marketing then yes you're right, it should be g-forces. If it's about giving the new fan the beginnings of an f1 education then they should have turn speed. Depends what they're trying to do

Its useful information for the uneducated who want to learn.
well it's not useful at all, just watch the video...
For example: It says "turn 1, 170 kmh" how do you even know at what exact point you should need to be that fast? The cars go so fast the speed is changing constantly anyway how would you know the right time to zip your eyes between the 2 speed indicators? What if the driver has a car that can't take this turn that fast and is 5 kmh slower? What about different driving styles? Someone may be a little slower at the point of measurement, but has an advantage going out of the corner. Or the driver is not as aggresive on the tires and whatnot. It really serves no purpose.

It will make sense and provide context when you have analyst explaining the reasoning behind what's going on. Like in every other sport that exists

It will be good to see Alonso and Vandoorne in a decent car. It's not their fault they were given a turd to drive but it resulted in a lukewarm excitement for them. It would be insane if Alonso won a race this season.
