Googled it since I'm not familiar with the suit, but the teaser pics look consistent with the design - The boosters by the ankles, the general shape of the the shoulders, the contours of the head. A vocal fan base has been asking for the Jegan for a while, yeah?

I'm surprised at all the grunt suits Bandai's been putting out in the past year. They haven't done anything like this in a long time. I would've bet the GM Sniper II was a one-off thing and they'd have been back to high-profile suits again, but they're mining old UC for kits again. Huh.
A lot fans of the Jegan line have been waiting for this one, myself included. Having many of the Jegan model kits out there be P-Bandai is a bit upsetting but this makes up for it. I'm glad to see this but also worried for the P-Bandai versions surely to come l.

Chars counterattack was awesome. A literally audio visual feast of epic space battles. Was glad to see that psycho Quess meet her end. What an annoying little shit she was.

Im probably in the minority but i prefer gundam in movie/ova format. Same with dragonball. The tv format is ok but the pacing of those shows can really drag at times.

And with the complete high im on from chars counterattack i finally went and purchased the gundam wing ultra edition.

The movie format isnt good especially with the release schedule, like youll get an movie thats just them talking about going to battle...then waiting like 8-16 months for the next release. Why would someone like that, rather than get it all in a 52 episode show?

Like Gundam Origin ep4 was Nov 2016, ep 5 was Sept 2017...or Gundam Unicorn ep 6 March 2013, ep7, June 2014.

That's a really interesting article. Do y'all know of any other interviews in English that he may have done?

I don't know of any. I came across it by searching on google "what did stephen hawking think of gundam". I never found the answer to that (he probably never even knew what Gundam was), but I found that article!

I think I'm gonna but my first Gunpla tomorrow. I saw a HG Barbatos Lupus Rex that was surprisingly cheap and I wanted it bad. What do I need to know? Do I need a bunch of tools? Is painting and glue necessary? I'm gonna have no idea what I'm doing.

If you just want a model you could just buy it and clip it out with scissors and snap it together. It'll look bad, though.
Some hobby nippers, sanding paper, and a file will take you to the next level for very little cost.
No glue or paint necessary, though a clear matte spray will make it look much more "finished" and less plasticy if you want to step it up even further.

Everything snaps into place. You only need cutters, a hobby knife, and sandpaper. Using Gundam markers for panel lining (filling in the small indents) isn't too hard, and it makes everything look a lot better. You could paint it if you really, really wanted to, but it'll look fine without it.

Have fun! I just started too.

Watch the first couple videos here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCdup8DSCfy94zI6K-kO494-8Owf_MamL
Painting isn't required and glue isn't needed. That HG probably has stickers to make up for some missing colors. The Barbatos Lupus (not Rex) that I just bought does, and I'm planning on trying to paint the details in.
If you have small nippers, like for electronics, and a hobby/razor knife you can make it work. But buying side cutter nippers will save you some nub (little plastic bits left on the parts) clean up.

And now I wait for more experienced folk to weigh in and listen.

I actually just watched this video and got intimidated by the paint lol. Good to know I don't really need it. Looks like I'll have to make a stop at Home Depot tomorrow.

Yeah paint isn't required its a big selling point for Gundam models. IMO all you need is cutters for your first ever gundam. It will look a bit rough in spots (particularly HG) but it will be fine enough for you to be proud of most likely. Sand paper is for the nubs left over after cutting (depending how good you are at getting rid of them/how bothered you are.) Though I will backup the top coat claims. Top coating really makes your model look better than the base plastic.

Just have fun with it and decide what extra stuff you wanna do to it after watching some videos. I do a little more/different things to my kits each time I make one :)

If you decide to panel line, go with grey, not black.
Not true at all. Grey for panel lining looks great on pieces that are white, yellow or very light green but it does fuck all on grey, red or blue.
I'm building the original Kimaris and the grey armor isn't even that dark but after testing how grey panel lining looked the results were the same as doing nothing. Hence why I'm panel lining it with black.

In the end everyone builds their gunpla how they want and some people may like black on white pieces even though I don't. However, grey for light coloured pieces and black for dark coloured ones is a generally accepted middle ground before you move onto what better fits your tastes.

He is building a Barbatos Lupus Rex and asked what he needed to know. If he uses grey on it to start, he can then decide to use black or brown or whatever afterward. It's mostly a white kit, so grey panel lining is a good place to start.

I misinterpreted your comment as a general gunpla advice. And yet, for the blue shoulder armor parts and whatever panel lines the red parts may have my recommendation for black still stands.

I even used black for the yellow parts on my regular Barbatos but that comes to personal preference and the darkness of the yellow.

A general exception I make for black on white is mouth vents. To me they look better with black than with grey.

My bad, I should have quoted the original poster to give context.

Yeah, brown on yellow tends to look good. For darker blues, I found that even black doesn't make enough of an impression, so I usually leave it alone.

Anyone get a Pacific Rim kit yet? Considering getting one and weathering it up a bunch. Looks like they have a lot of surface detail that would play well with drybrushing.

Hey! Bandai put up some material with the Gundam X Blu-Ray!

xZWPFbKl.jpg

Just art for this guy, which doesn't have a name AFAIK, but it's been pointed out it looks kinda like a Gundamized version of the Bertigo.
And then they announced a master grade from Gundam X! Could it possibly be the X Divi-

Dammit! Well, I really like that shade of blue. :(

Bandai should get the license together for some MCU kits. I'd be all over a Milano kit, maybe a few Iron Man suits, definitely a Hulkbuster.

This took a lot longer to build than I thought it would.

I'm satisfied overall but it's so damn stiff and fragile right now. It took so long to get that pose down. I also either seem to be missing decals or they expect you to paint it, because his claws are supposed to be yellow. Speaking of decals, they're a huge pain in the dick.

Some HGs don't have certain small parts in the right color. The more detailed grades pretty much always do though.

I just caught on the Lupus needs white fingertips. Thanks, Astral!

Anyway, I'm on the road toward my in-laws and I packed Char's Origin Zaku 2 to pass the time when we arrive. It looks like a great build.

I just prefer movies in general. A self contained story with better pacing and bigger budget. Gundam is one of the few episodic shows i actually watch.

My wing ultra edition showed up. Its a very sleek looking set. The standout being the art book of course. Very nice quality.

It's here! And it's HUGE. Like, I didn't expect the box to be THAT big.

To help with the scale I included the shelf below in the picture.

How does it compare to the box of the MG The O if you have one?
Yes, I'm one of those weirdos that keep the (flattened) boxes of the kits I've built. Only the printed top, though. Not the regular cardboard bottom.

I don't have The O so I'm unsure.

Eh, I keep the boxes intact. I use them to hold the spare parts (or the kit itself if I don't have it on display). I've had to move alot in the past few years so the boxes are an easy way to transport kits.
