I'm curious to see how it does next week after a 2-hour The Voice instead of This Is Us.About what I expected for the Rise debut. Looking forward to trying it today.

He's the lead in the new Lost in Space show on Netflix next month.Toby whastisname - the main geezer from Black Sails, is incredible. His career otherwise seems extremely crap by comparison. I want him in everything.
welp Black Sails is fantastic. It's also surprisingly funny.
I like Vane's crew more than I like the main crew tho lol >_<

Baskets just keeps getting better and better, this season has been absolutely stellar.
Ouch at For the People premiere ratings, that's three failures in a row for Shonda. I wonder how the Grey's firefighter spinoff will do.
I think it will do good, it seems to have the same atmosphere as Grey'sOuch at For the People premiere ratings, that's three failures in a row for Shonda. I wonder how the Grey's firefighter spinoff will do.
While this is true, any pilots Shonda airs in 2018 on ABC (For The People and Station 19) as well as past ABC shows from before this year stay on air until ABC cancels them.
Toby Schmitz was great as Jack Rackham, and what a 4 season arc he had, but I wonder if I'm ever going to see him on TV again. (In the US)
Would you or someone else mind spoiling what the supernatural twist or element is so far? I haven't seen the show because of the reviews, but I'm curious.I am, actually. Sort of. It's extremely messy because it's trying to "say something" about literally everything but it's all very superficial (not to mention ham fisted) at this point and I don't fully understand what it intends to be moving forward, but it's definitely got some of SFU's blood flowing through its veins. It's the sort of show that will, if it ends up being 'good', take some time getting there.
Amazon's return on its multi-billion-dollar investment in video programming, long shrouded in mystery because the company has declined to break out specific numbers, has been illuminated somewhat by internal documents obtained by Reuters.
The wire service said Amazon's 19 original series as well as acquired series and films drew a total U.S. audience of 26 million as of 2017. Estimates by outside analysts have put total membership in Prime — the offering that bundles together streaming video with free shipping and other benefits — at 79 million, meaning roughly one-third of overall Prime members are active video consumers.
Amazon has never publicly confirmed any Prime figures, though CEO Jeff Bezos says the company is committed to the strategy of pairing video with other goods because attention for video offerings entices customers to shop more. Also, he has said, regular video consumers renew memberships and convert from free trials at higher rates than customers who do not stream video.
The Man in the High Castle, whose cost for production and marketing was put at $72 million, drew 8 million viewers in early 2017, while also pulling in 1.15 million new subscribers worldwide. The acquisition cost for each subscriber, according to the documents, was $63.
Transparent, while a highly decorated critical favorite, has been on the wane, according to the documents. Its third season was drawing just 1.3 million viewers. It recently reached a creative crossroads when star Jeffrey Tambor exited the show amid sexual harassment allegations.
An analysis by J.P. Morgan estimated Amazon's 2017 spending on original content at $4.5 billion. The Reuters report put it at $5 billion, according to company sources. Amazon has recently expressed a desire to spend what it takes to produce an equivalent to HBO's Game of Thrones — a large-scale spectacle that drives subscriptions. It has ditched many smaller-scale shows, which were pointing in a different strategic direction. One such attempt is the pricey adaptation of The Lord of The Rings, which is reported to carry a price tag north of $200 million.
How does that compare to other services US audience?
I knew Amazon wasn't doing great but man, Netflix has more than double that in terms of subscribers. Hulu has 17 million subscribers, and I dare say more of a cultural footprint with Handmaid's tale alone than all of Amazon's scripted offerings combined.
As berzeli noted, Hulu is about 17M and Netflix is about 55M domestic.
Starz has given the green light to The Spanish Princess limited series, a followup to The White Princess and The White Queen, based on Philippa Gregory's bestselling books The Constant Princess and The King's Curse.
The Spanish Princess is the third series drawn Gregory's bestselling novels. The first, critically-acclaimed Starz original miniseries event The White Queen, was followed by the 8-episode limited series drama The White Princess.
The Spanish Princess, from All3 Media's New Pictures and Playground, the latest chapter in the dynastic saga of Tudor England, is described as a powerful, epic story that not only returns the audience to the world of royal court intrigue as seen uniquely through the perspective of the women, but also sheds light on a previously untold corner of history – the lives of people of color, living and working in 16th century London.
The Spanish Princess centers on Catherine of Aragon, the beautiful teenaged princess of Spain who was promised the English throne since she was a child. She arrives in a grey, rain-lashed England with her glorious and diverse court including her lady-in-waiting Lina – an African Moor. She is Princess of Wales now, but when her husband Prince Arthur dies suddenly, the throne seems lost to Catherine. Until she claims her marriage was never consummated and that as a virgin she may set her sights on the new heir, the charismatic and headstrong Prince Harry who will one day rule as King Henry VIII.
Writers Emma Frost (The White Queen, The White Princess, The Man in the High Castle") and Matthew Graham (Life on Mars, Electric Dreams, Dr. Who) serve as showrunners and executive producers.
Both The White Queen and The White Princess were strong ratings performers for Starz. The White Queen averaged 4.8 million multiplatform viewers per episode in the U.S., according to Starz. The White Princess also attracted 57 percent women viewership and averaged 3.8 million U.S. multiplatform viewers per episode.
It's kind of weird that people seemingly gave up on Man in the High Castle. Either that or the extra 30-40 million they spent was definitely not worth it.
Think about what happened between season 1 and season 2 in real life. It probably makes people less eager to watch the show. It's kind of weird that people seemingly gave up on Man in the High Castle. Either that or the extra 30-40 million they spent was definitely not worth it.

I think its the best mix of all the "chicago[insert occupation]" shows for that type of action and character relationship drama is pretty good, both of the gay and lesbian plots, as well as the heterorelationship plot and a redemption plot for another character. Compelling content and drama. Is 9-1-1 actually good? Why is it crushing Fox's entire library so much? Also why are people not watching X-Files? Season has been quite good.

Agreed. Also feels weird cause they try to get into some serious issues but at the same time the dialogue kind of starts to fast forward through stuff and they don't touch a lot of area that the subject would entail
finished S1 of Black Sails, that was fantastic.
Vane >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Flint
Fuck Flint.
Should I watch Spartacus also?
I find Spartacus to be pretty great in later seasons. Good character development. Starts off all action and no substance. Definitely start with the prequel.
2017-18 Season TV Cancellations/Pilots: CW reverses diagnosis, she's deadLooks like The CW's Life Sentence will soon be getting a life sentence...to cancellation:
I hope people are understanding the importance of "first" in this metric. This is strictly about connecting shows to new subscriptions. This graph does not necessarily reflect the relative success of shows in overall viewership.
I mean they sort of touch on why Cubans might be Republican, but they just turned it into a Casto bad, Freedom of Speech good argument and you can't really do anything with that.Agreed. Ugh NO. He should watch it in the order that the episodes airs.
1. Blood and Sand
2. Gods of the Arena
3. Vengeance
4. War of the Damned
Also due note that they had to recast Spartacus after season one. Fuck Cancer :(
I was hoping they'd at least have her say that to Aaron though. The two people with the main contention that episode never went too deep with their reasoning to each other. But they probably have to go the route they took in part because of time limitations so they do what they can with thatI mean they sort of touch on why Cubans might be Republican, but they just turned it into a Casto bad, Freedom of Speech good argument and you can't really do anything with that.

Yup, I'll cosign on this. Spartacus is a great show, but the first 6-8(?) episodes are bad. It gets much, much better from there, and you should watch it in the order it aired.Correct. The first season starts out awfully but improves significantly as it goes on, and the uptick in quality is maintained in all the future seasons (including the prequel).

So far most of the characters are tied to simple character traits, which is a bit unfortunate. We don't really know why she's a conservative other than Zoey tells us she is through her narration.I was hoping they'd at least have her say that to Aaron though. Edit: also it's cool someone else is watching grown-ish here :D
As long as you look at it as a dark comedy and not a drama, it's a fun show. The latest two episodes were legitimately great too.Is 9-1-1 actually good? Why is it crushing Fox's entire library so much? Also why are people not watching X-Files? Season has been quite good.
I'm hoping they might explore characters more instead of just relying on Zoey's narration. I'm also interested in the fact that some characters don't show up in an episode at all. Cant tell if it is writers not having a story for them or just saving money on actorsSo far most of the characters are tied to simple character traits, which is a bit unfortunate. Also, yay Freeform. lol
