What's weird in my situation is that I own a 2560x1440 monitor, but I use the custom resolution 2560x1080 for gaming, with black horizontal bars on the top and bottom.
Before buying my current 21:9 monitor, I did that with my previous 16:10 monitor (downscaling and letterboxing 2560x1080 to the monitor's 1920x1200) when weighing up if the jump to 21:9 was going to be worth it.

It does not seem to come out until Q3 or so from what I've read on a different board though. Which is unfortunate, cause that's quite the wait again.

Too bad 21:9 is not really supported on Overwatch, just horizontally chopped. Wider view in Overwatch would help a lot - more aware of the surroundings.

Tried 21:9 on DOOM, across my two monitors together. What an experience - very immersive. I was debating on buying an ultra wide 1440p/60 hz or 1080p/144hz/gsync. I went with 144hz/gsync - no regrets. At least when I want to game on 21:9, my 144hz/gsync screen is capable of that.

I have a 2560x1080p, 75Hz monitor.

It is so immersive that often I choose to play on it instead of on the couch using the 42" TV right next to it.

Currently waiting for 144Hz 1440p that is affordable (or existent)

I do it all the time with my 65in 4k TV. 3440x1440 looks nearly as sharp as native 4k while giving me the benefits of a wider aspect ratio. Makes it feel like having a really large 21:9 monitor

I finally caved after keeping an eye on them for a while - particularly pricing. I still think the increase for a g-sync ultrawide is insane but I'm glad I waited to go that route.

I went with AOC's 35" AGON VA, which has been great so far. I ended up having to swap DP cables as my old one prevented g-sync (and 100hz) from working properly for some reason. And I also had to switch my speakers to the monitor output jack, as I ended up getting a bunch of interference from onboard after switching monitors. I have heard there are some issues when video cards are under load, but I never had it before.

Most games I've tried so far support 21:9 and support it well - Witcher 3, ESO, Lego Worlds, Destiny 2, Subnautica, KF2. I wish No Man's Sky didn't have the stretched HUD as it would look great otherwise.

One of the Asus IPS panels would have been nice too but they were also ~$400CDN more and the thing wasn't cheap as is. Even ignoring the size difference I already notice a huge improvement with g-sync as well as with colours and blacks in general. I had a BenQ XL2420Z before so it is a drop from 144hz to 100hz, but I found myself setting it to 100 or 120hz already and the lack of tearing AND no input lag via v-sync is well worth it. Plus, my 1070 wouldn't be able to push many games over 100fps at 3440x1440 anyway.

Main downside? My left monitor, which doubles for my PS4 and Xbox One, now looks tiny.

No, if you want from a reputable brand like asus, acer, aoc, or alienware.

However if not this is a freaking steal. My work blocks ebay, so you need to just look up. Viotek GN34C, listed at $519 - 100 = $419, which is insane.
Bought for $419. Hope it's a good monitor. Thanks! 21:9, 1440p, 144hz, right?

Ah, it's only 100hz :/ Canceled.

Well i mean there are no such ultrawides that are 144hz at 1440P, so......

i mean if you want to go with 1080P, then 144hz is possible, but you are asking for something that doesnt exist.

Oh, really? I see. The 144, 1440p ones are hot and new. Hard pass on 1080p.

I canceled but I'll mull it over. Thanks for your help.

Currently, 120hz is the fastest for Ultra wide. If you want faster, you will need to wait for the HDR 200hz VA panel estimate release in the fall / winter. It's going to be expansive, guessing $1500-2000. Good luck running anywhere close to 200hz. Plus, possible VA ghosting issues. That's why, I recently went with Dell Alienware IPS 120hz AW3418DW instead.

Yup, Alienware is the only one with a 120hz panel at 1440P ultrawide that i know of. But that monitor is also well over a grand. Im keeping my eye on that on slickdeals once it hits $1000 flat.

They seem to often go on sale for $999.99. I got mine for that price from Microcenter + $17 shipping + no tax, but it looks like the price was raised to $1099.99.

Yep, i see it at that price once in a while. But i got that New York tax going.

Newegg doesnt tax me so if they got at 1k i'd buy. But other site will need to be $900 or so.

Dell can list at $1k also because they have coupon codes usually that can drop the price 75-100.

Well, I mulled it over and bought it. $430 for a 100hz, 1440p, 21:9 is alright. I hope the panel isn't bad. Thanks again Phonzo

There was HP Omen 35 and AO 35" monitor on sale for $800 and another $100 off. Both have VA panels, 100hz refresh, and g-sync. For $700 those were pretty great buys. I just have a hard time justifying one since i have the older Dell 34" UW 1440 monitor which I got couple years back.

for those that are playing Vermintide 2, what FOV are you using?

I notice when I play CSGO or TF2 in 21:9, it doesn't make me more aware of my surroundings since I'm concentrating around the crosshair. It does make it feel immersive though

Alright my monitor should arrive this week. Overwatch is unsupported? Weak. How's Fortnite? PUBG? Prey?

Anything a game changer in 21:9?

Yeah 21:9 on my 32" 4k screen is pretty dope. 4k for desktop usage real estate, 21:9 for gaming. I forget exactly what the resolution is but people call it like 4k ultrawide or something. I'll check the custom res when I get home.

I bought a ROG G-Sync 3440x1440 21:9 and absolutely love it. The low latency compared to playing on my 4K tv is very noticeable. I do a lot more PC gaming because of it.

I never want to go back to 16:9. The wider FOV just feels better to me for 3d spacial awareness.

Fortnite , PUBG and Prey(2017) all works great on 3440x1440 . Playing all three in 21:9 out of the box. Fortnite is easiest to drive for higher FPS , have an 1070 here .

As for game changer , umm .. most of them are game changer . Even Divinity 2 and Diablo 3 are more immersive with it , oh finished Evil Within 2 in ultrawide and its awesome .

Hello again. I have a 27" 1440p Crossover 27Q. I don't know if I can sell it so I might keep it in addition to the Viotek GN34C. I'd like to run dual monitors.

Will it be an issue if I plug them both into my Strix 1070 OC? Will my games still run as best as possible with one monitor PUBG-ing and the other with Twitch or YouTube? Should I plug the 27Q into my motherboard GPU so it's less taxing on the 1070? Is that even a thing?

If they're both on the GPU, can one be via DVI (27Q) and the other HDMI?

I've got a 21:9 1080p 75 Hz Free-sync monitor and I love it. It's paired with a regular monitor to the side which I use to watch Netflix while I game. Love the ultrawide aspect ratio and will definitely be sticking with the ultrawide + Free/G-sync combo going forward. I think in a few years, when I upgrade my card, I'll go up to 1440p 144 Hz. Hopefully by then prices will have come down, since they're a bit crazy right now. I don't really see the need to pay more than $200 for a monitor.

Should be fine if they both go off the video card. It's very common to run multiple monitors off different ports, and higher end cards have plugs for up to four monitors. As long as they aren't both running different 3D apps you shouldn't have any problems.

Awesome. Thanks. Maybe I will keep my old monitor then. I need a bigger desk.

Yes, we here.

3440x1440 since start of this year and never been happier. Absolutely adds so much to the games, and with g-sync none the less it makes for a amazing experience.
What games are you running at that resolution and what is your setup? I thought about getting one but was wondering about the performance hit.

But we are going there!
I believe this is the first 32:9 1440p monitor on the market.
Nope, Samsungs CHG90 which also supports Freesync. Unfortunately, it's curved. Loved the idea of splitting the 32:9 into 2 16:9 for dual use
Edit misread! Yes the Phillips is the first 1440p 32:9 samsungs is 1080p 32:9

More or less every game I play, from The Division to like World of Warcraft. The performance hit is not that bad, depends if you need 60/100/144Hz or whatever. I'm fine with a 100Hz UW so it's not that much to ask from a 1080Ti honestly.

You can always reduce some visuals for increase in resolution and frame rate.

Any good calibration settings for my new Viotek GN34C? Next to my Crossover 27Q, it doesn't look as nice, picture setting wise. Maybe it's because I prefer the glossy IPS look but I'm also sure out of the box calibration settings can't be great.

Another issue I have with the Viotek GN34C, sometimes the screen displays choppy. Like it's dropping frames. Happens in Overwatch. But the on screen fps counter is stable. Is this some Freesync setting complicating things? I have an Nvidia card so I am willing to disable Freesync entirely.

Phonzo what drivers do you use for the Viotek GN34C? I feel like the text on mine is blurry-ish. Yes, I used ClearType calibration. It just has this weird color blur around text, especially compared to my IPS monitor which is insanely clear.
