It looks like the perfect way to get stains on the T-shirt ;)
It seems that he is indeed quite uncomfortable with eating pasta, that's for sure.

I am not Italian and I was thinking the same thing when I saw the gif (I have been quite a few times to Italy however and we eat a lot of pasta at home).

Love the gif btw. I also love that Huber is eating pasta in that shirt on stream.

Octopath was the highlight

Game looks amazing. Also the possibility that smash will just be a platform that will keep expanding is what I'm hoping for. I see no need for a sequel. Just add more characters

.

I envision Smash being "Smash 4, 2.0 release", and that's also what I want. (Well, I also want a frame-perfect melee re-release)

IMO: same engine. It'll have a new default roster. Some new stages. Everyone will have to buy the dlc again. There will be more single player modes. The final roster (if you buy every dlc char) will be a superset of the smash 4 roster. Ice climbers return. Etc. 2.0 release, baby

That may or may not qualify as "Smash 5" for people, but whatever you call it (smash for Switch is what I call it), that's what I expect

When have they ever done that before?
I mean, there was the smash 4 wii u/3ds situation, where if you pay a little extra you get both, but for the default price you just get it for one platform.

But if they skin it like a new game, why would the dlc carry over? It's a "new game"!

E: to make it clear, I also expect some current non-dlc characters to become dlc. For example, there are a bunch of fire emblem characters on the smash 4 roster. Some of them you'll have to pay up to keep playing as.

It's a port of Smash 4. Not a new game. The DLC characters will be included in the package. Just like MK8 and Hyrule Warriors.

I mean, if it was EA making the game, I'd be predicting a drastic shrink of the default roster with half hidden behind lootboxes.

So it can always be worse

Pearl Jam's 'Even Flow' has just become Pearl Jam's 'I Play By Myself' every time it comes on on my Spotify. It's just too good of a bit.

Is it though? Doesn't look like it's going to be marketed that way at the very least.

I was saying it last night and everything that comes up is backing me up: This is going to be like Splatoon 2, it's a "port" as much as any sequel in a franchise using the same engine is. Keep as much old stuff as possible but still a ton of new stuff and use it as a platform for the generation. It'll be more like Splatoon 2 than a MK8DX.

This is what I'm betting on, too.

There's no evidence of it being a port, just people just trying not to get their hopes up.

I've never seen a port with a Working Title before. The logo and font is totally different. It has BotW Link. Would also be very unusual to announce a port with a CG trailer and no gameplay. Hell, it would be usual to announce a port without saying it's a port. Plus there's the dates thing Hasney posted. It's certainly not conclusive but every tiny shred we have indicates it's a new game/Smash 5.

I am amazed on how big of a deal this game seems to be to a lot of people.
I bought a Switch some months ago (I didn't really own a Nintendo homeconsole until now myself) and there is a possibility I will buy this game as well, but I didn't know it was this big.

I have played some Smash Bros at a friends place on the Wii and Wii U, but although I enjoyed playing them it's never been something I was really looking forward to play.
It's not that I think they are bad games (not at all, they are perfect at what they are trying to do) and they are amazing party games (I enjoy it much more than Mario Party), but I am still surprised by how big this announcement seems to be.

I am glad for the people looking forward to the game (and it just makes sense that there would be a Smash Bros on Switch if you heard the sales from the Wii U version on a recent Friend Code).

However I did love the announcement video. What a perfect way to announce this game (which apparently a lot of people were looking forward to and Nintendo clearly knew this).

It's been a flagship franchise for Nintendo since the 64, right up there with Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart etc, not really anything surprising about it. The fact that people are gonna be playing it on a successful console probably helps.

It's completely possible they still are (re)negotiating the deals with 3rd parties. Metroid Prime 4 also is "©2018 Nintendo" even if it is being done by an external studio that should be credited too. I'm also not sure how the copyright situation works if the name is probably getting changed.
This Smash situation is kinda irregular tbh, who expected the game in 2018? Or to be announced in a Direct at the start of the year?

we get it. you dont like smash bros.
I don't dislike Smash Bros. at all. I was just surprised how fondly it is regarded as I thought it wasn't regarded at the same level as Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and Mario Kart, but one tier lower (call it ignorance, like I said, I probably haven't played them enough).
I will probably give this one a chance, but I don't think I will buy it day one (I have a massive backlog).

I am not saying people shouldn't love this game at all, I am glad people do and I understand the appeal.

I guess I just didn't pay enough attention to Nintendo since I only owned an OG GameBoy and GameBoy Pocket before this year (I now also own a 2DS XL and a Switch (and a SNES Classic)).

My sister has an N64, Gamecube and Wii (and every other Gameboy/DS), but I never really played on those by myself.
So I know of those top Nintendo games as all of those are classic series, but I probably haven't played enough of them to understand how good Smash Bros is.
