Beat the story this morning and got the credits. Maybe I'm a sucker for Sci Fi but I greatly preferred the story in this to Phantom Pain. I actually want to go back to the tapes to learn more.

Glad to have access to normal missions in co-op again. I guess I was running off quickmatch from the event tab and on Monday was surprised to see I didn't have access to normal missions again. I guess the rewards I accumulated messed up with the balance of the single player because in the final event I held my own with just a bow and a few grenades.

OK had a busy night/day with baby so just managed to catch up a little. Currently at Mission 15? I'm about to
Activate the wormhole for the second time, I've not "spoiled myself" but I've picked up a little here and there I assume this is where I move onto the next map, any reason to stick about on map 1? About 60% complete. I also assume the next map has the next tier crafting mats/benches?

That 1 day booster netted me enough Kuban to get to lvl 25 without breaking a sweat, all things being quiet in Lamptramp towers this evening, hopefully be able to jump on some MP XBL.

Be careful with doing the daily/weekly. I've been reading some of what you guys have said and on Reddit that if you get an S on them, the game will freeze.

Haven't tried it myself because of that reason.

Regular Hard missions work fine though.

What tapes are people talking about? Are there story/more tapes? I'm in Chapter 23 and don't think I've found any of those, just a few music tapes.

Thanks.

Just finished the story and really enjoyed it overall. Would definitely buy some story DLC but I have a feeling that's not going to happen given the reception and sales.

Feels like Mother Base is mocking me. Spent three survival pills (I know, shouldn't have) respawning after falling to my death trying to jump from the ramp debris onto Mother Base.

Is it even possible to get onto the wreckage of Mother Base?

That's a very unfortunate waste of survival pills. You can climb Mother Base but I think you have to progress in the game a bit more. It'll be accessible by stairs iirc.
Edit: It was discussed earlier in this thread, from this post.

I've been playing this one too long to be asking this but...on the hard salvage missions, how do you get more Iris Energy? Seems like it goes much slower, I'm unsure if i'm missing some concept or anything.

Right, so I haven't gotten the stairs yet. I'll be patient :-)

Very happy with the game so far (around chapter 12). Met the crawlers in a ruin yesterday. My arachnaphobia definetely did not do me any favours in that encounter in the dark.

I just figured out how to equip more than one arrow type and switch between them. There's no tutorial for this, right? This UI is a mess, lol.

First, if you haven't crafted any Survival Equipment (like quivers) head over to the Gear Workbench and tab over to the "Survival Equipment" tab.

Craft whatever quivers you want: Frost/flame/grenade/heavy.

  1. After they are crafted, go to "Change Equipment" using any workbench.
  2. Go to the "Survival Equipment" tab.
  3. On the list, you'll see "Survival Gear 1/2/3" etc.
  4. Choose a slot(s) and equip the quiver(s).
  5. While still on the same screen, tab over to the right for "Ammo."
  6. You'll see each of the quivers you equipped. You can refill all ammo (provided you have them) all at once by pressing the left thumbstick down. Whatever you have in storage will be applied.

After you've equipped and refilled, exit all menus until you control your chracter. Press and hold Up on the D-pad. Use the right stick to choose the bow, then press X or B to cycle between the ammo types.

This is huge, IMO. Right now, I have equipped:

30 Normal
20 Flame
60 Heavy
2 Grenade

You can equip a small and medium quiver and the effects will stack. So if I mess around with things, I can have:

80 Normal
90 Heavy
20 Flame

Also, when you go to "Change Equipment" and then the "Ammo" tab, if you select the Bow itself, you can change the ammo to have even more choices. So let's say I change the Bow itself to Flame arrow. If I do that, and have the Quiver for Flame arrows, I can walk around with 50 Flame arrows total. Also, using the Bow itself, you can equip arrows you've found but don't have the recipe for. For example, I have Frost arrows but I can't make them yet. I can equip them to the bow though.

Messing around with these things means some sacrifices, like not having as many slots for fences/gadgets or having just 2 primary weapons instead of 3.

If you're a bow user, definitely mess around with this. You can walk around with 80 Normal and 90 Heavy arrows, and still be able to pick them up from the ground...AND you can probably use the ammo resupply during a salvage mission to refill all of that if you end up empty.

Let me see how this goes during a co-op match.

You can probably do this with other weapons/ammo as well. Haven't tried yet though.

If I'm not mistaken you have to activate the support diggers. I've done a lot of hard missions in Co-Op and haven't received S-rank on those yet coz
If those are damaged you lose Iris-Energy, or something like that.

Hispanicguy: lol, I somehow found out about that in the beta, but couldn't remember it in the full game. Took me 20 minutes or so to figure it out again.....yeah, it's the same with elemental ammunition for firearms. You can switch between various ammo types if you have customized your armor with additional pouches.

You need to activate a support digger. You'll see the main digger plus 2 spots on the map indicated by yellow crosshairs. You can choose either spot to plant the support digger.

If you don't choose a spot before the wave begins, you can't plant a support digger and you'll lose out on Iris Energy.

When you plant a support digger, make sure you defend the hell out of it. Let's say you're on your way towards an S...but if they destroy that support digger, you may end up with a C instead. It's happened to me once. We all were happy being seconds away from an S and got careless, not paying attention and they destroyed it, lol.

Also, after the main digger starts, go up to it and hold A, and choose the option to make digging go faster which makes you earn more energy. There's a distinct sound that plays when that's activated. If you don't hear it, activate it again. It costs 5000 KUB.

There are side missions where you can also earn energy by picking up orbs so pay attention to that as well.

In terms of helping you defend, also at the main digger, you can choose a few options, like having walker gear appear. Pay a specific amount of KUB and 2 of them spawn at the digger. Best used during the final wave. There's also a resupply box you can spawn. Also might be best for final wave.

Build some fences around the support digger. Place a auto machine gun near it to. You'll probably end up defending that more than the main digger. At least, that's what I've noticed.

So besides multiplayer what is there to do post-game when the story is finished?

I found out that there is one trophy that is missable. I have an older save where I did not finish the story. I was wondering if I could save my latest save and revert to my older save and get that one missable trophy where I can get the
alternate ending.
Could that work? Will my resources will have problems? Once I get the trophy, I should be able to revert to my older save without any problems of losing anything?

What bosses? How do I get the new classes? Didn't even know there were others.

After you beat the game they'll give you that Base Digger tutorial mission. Then a yellow circle shows up eventually for a distress call. After the distress call mission, they'll give you another memory board mision which unlocks the ability to do sub classes.

I haven't gotten a notification for the second boss, but the one called Big Mouth has showed up for me twice now. It just comes in as a random radio transmission and then he shows up on the map as a big red circle.

I've just returned the Giant to the FOB and am now heading back to my first base. The game is getting much harder now and I think I don't really understand how I'm meant to be playing it. I feel like I don't have enough resources like fences to effectively defend anything. Anyone have any tips for the late game defenses?

Also, I tried co-op for the first time last night and I'm afraid I don't really understand it. How do I switch from Easy missions to Normal/Hard? I couldn't figure it out.

Defenses are meant to burn resources hard, because each wave kills the placed defenses and you end up using guns a lot.

Basic Tips:
1. Upgrade your armor to add ammo storage, should be an option on any blue. Assault Rifle in the primary slot is popular because you can go rifle + Bow.

2. Complete edge defense of FOB is too expensive. Can probably shrink it a bit and try to funnel enemies instead. At each of the cardinal directions I recommend having an "opening" in the fence and then use ramps so the enemies walk up and then fall off at the other side - this makes it easy because they take quite a while to stand up.

3. Use grenades to kill mortar enemies, it's either that or burn ammo.

4. Usually you want to go into a defense with some objects on your item equips, like metal fence or barbed wire. Use them to block a few paths to buy time while you guard the rest, or to patch up if you're doing FOB defense.

5. If you feel you're lacking the right gear, go container hunting...there are usually better weapons and base defense recipes to find.

So what are everyone's thoughts on subclasses? I've been using a bow the moment I got one and was eager to subclass Jaeger. But it seems a bit underwhelming so far. In co-op I definitely hate that the multi-arrow attacks use ammo. Took a look at the Scout skills and those look amazing in comparison.

The Jaeger class is great it also gives you the fun ability to auto-shoot multiple targets after marking them, which works best with an assault rifle because of the bigger magazine.
The three arrow perk is essential when equipping bigger arrow-bags and facing level 50 enemies.
The arrow rain perk is usefull when using elemental arrows to inflict AOE damage to huge groups of enemies.

I only recently started using one, Though I still like my "Knife-on-a-stick™" The bow seems pretty versatile, safe and cheap. Regular arrows don't cost much and you retrieve almost all you fire from mobs and the immediate area should you miss. I have some pouches, so I can carry normal, heavy and fire arrows and between them it's pretty good at keeping mobs at bay. The fire arrows in particular are pretty effective, especially if you can herd enemies between fences or the environment.

Not tried it in MP yet though.

I've been liking arrows because they're a silent projectile. Enemies will start investigating where the arrow came from, but you'll probably have enough time to slink away. Very handy against Watchers.

Anyone know where it might be?

Is there any point to doind the post game base salvage missions? I got to wait 4 hours for the second wave, can I just ignore this stuff and go straight to coop?

Also I have 26 srurvivors and my food supply is in the negatives again. I've got 2 goat cages, max corn/tomato/potato/onion crops and the upgrades for them. is there a type of animal cage i've missed OR a vegetable?

You can actually get more animal storage from the post-game base digs, so that's a good reason to do those.

I haven't tried any other subclasses but man, I don't know how it gets much better than Scout. It's just so handy in all ways. I want to try Jaeger for the bow abilities, but being able to pick up stacks of arrows immediately with Scout is ridiculously handy, as well as Fox Step and instantly looting backstabbed enemies.

There are items/schematics you can only get from doing the base salvage mission rewards, and there are exclusive ones in multiplayer as well.

How much more is there? I kinda feel like I hit the wall with what I want to do in this game. It's been very fun but can I expect it to change up/get more different?

It's a shame they put so much of the content behind stuff in post game. I was kinda getting burned out by the end of the story and now I want cool stuff but Im not feeling it because all that's left to do is grind materials.

Get more farms/cages and voila.

As for the hard mode, no, you don't get more points, if anything, you get less, it's impossible to achieve S rank without support digger in all 3 waves, that's why it's so infuriating when some impatient dumbass starts the wave immediately, but I guess the joke's on them since most people leave the moment they realize nobody had the time to set up SD.
