Fucking LOL

The fucking Whizzer's run/effect were so fucking absurd. I genuinely burst out laughing. Looked like something from The Tick. I honestly couldn't tell if it was supposed to be ridiculous, although the music certainly seemed to lean that way.

Assuming there's 6 good episodes to every Netflix show, it seems that the good ones are back-loaded.

Let's use the review thread for non-spoiler discussion and do open spoilers here. I don't think a lot of people are gonna be browsing this one anyway. Interest seems low. I noted that in the OP.

The intro sequence got beautiful!

It's Patsyyyyyyy ahahaha so much cringe it's funny.

Loved the start with Jessica and that pizza lady. Way to draw a line.

New prediction. Mid season villain and real villain is Jessica's brother. He is actually alive

I really think people should spoiler tag spoiled and mark mark them with the episode number.

Imagine you're only on one of the first episode and then somebody comes in here and posts "NAME JUST DIED" with no warning. That's a dick move, and it has never worked like this in binge show OTs.

Boy this show does not start off strong. I was bored during the first episode. It already seems like it's missing a strong villain.

Episode 2

Carrie Ann-Moss just seems to be there. we'll just give her a side story unrelated to main plot

They weren't kidding, this is really slow
It's okay to be slow. And this was slow in a good way. Also, let the show set it's footing, it doesn't have to blast open the doors with a villain straight on. This first episode set up the characters and the main arc really well. With Jessica's past and her connection to IGH (that Whizzer guy was a great part of the episode) and Trish and Jeri actually seem to be more interesting than that shit arc Jeri had in the first season. It's all boding well.

And oh am I in a good mood for a slowly paced show.

According to the reviews it all comes together though.

The Carrie Ann-Moss side story better amounts to something, because right now it's just uninteresting. Why do these people think anyone cares about random lawyer character? I a, not feeling better about this season after 2 episodes.

Typically we spoiler episode spoilers for like a week or two after release for binge shows, because people want to discuss the show as they watch it and it takes them time to get through episodes. As it is, this is likely to kill the thread because people will only want to come in here once they've seen every episode lest they be spoiled.

Thank god they killed off Simpson, he was easily the worst part of the first season and I wasn't looking forward to having any more of him in season 2.

End of episode 1 spoiler

That dude in the flashback looked more like Deadpool (as in non costume Wade Wilson) than actual Deadpool from the movie lol.

That's how fucked up I wanted him to look :(

I thought the general agreed etiquette for batch-released shows was that episode-specific spoiler tags would be used for at least 2 weeks following release?

I am stoked to start watching this tonight, JJ is probably my favourite Marvel series so far.

Yeah, I also didn't want Simpson to turn into a villain for the season. They took care of him quick.

Episode 2 was solid too, although I hope the Jeri subplot gets going soon.

It's a terrible idea yes, but thankfully people seem to stick to the general rule of spoiler tagging episode spoilers so far.

I can't stop laughing from that one scene in the first episode. What the fuck was up with the sound effect?
That's the reason they call him the Whizzer. He makes a whizzing sound.

Or he did, at any rate.

This is still the case and for a show that is released in one batch like this anything else doesn't make sense. Will edit the OP to make this clear.

Episode 3 was pretty solid too.

I think Trish's arc is good, she got lots to do, and her Griffin boyfriend is a good addition. Add Oscar the neighbor and there's lots of good additions.

I like they've given Jeri this problem and that she now have to defend herself with the help of Jessica. And I'm glad we got that Foggy guest appearance! That Captain America kid is cool too, and the Cloak and Dagger reference was smooth sails.

I'm positive on this show now. It seems well paced, with good new additional characters and subplots that is actually going somewhere.

Man the Simpson scenes messed with me.

I literally went from "fuck that guy" to being genuinely distraught about his death with minutes of each other.

They did an excellent job of showing he was clearly of sound mind and was no longer nuts. He really was just trying to make sure Trish was safe because he cared about her.

And then to see him go out like that? Damn.

I'm pretty bummed that they're going so hard on digging into her past as being the main thrust of the story. It's just not that interesting. The Punisher had the same issue, and so did Luke Cage to a degree. I'm much more interested in challenging these people with threats that aren't intrinsically linked to how they got their powers. It's not that it's a bad framework for a story, it's just we've seen it so damned often over the past few years.

And here's another interesting new character. Leslie or what her real name is. There's a bunch of super powered people from IGH out there, it's interesting. Can't wait to see where this is going.

They've improved on the action and physicality to their super strength powers, when it felt off in the first season it doesn't here.

Gonna start Episode 4 in a few hours.

First episode was a great bit of character study, not sure what some people are complaining about.

It's a breath of fresh air given the Marvel studio's constant emphasis on spectacle for everything it touches.

People seem to forget what made the prospect of bringing comic book characters to life so fascinating in the first place. Saddle them with real-world problems and relatable, complex human emotions and let them work that shit out in a context that feels tangible and grounded. Like, fuck can we just have a good character study for a change without shit having to be primarily about the "powers" clashing with the "villain"?

I LOVE that Jessica's abilities take a backseat to how much of a broken asshole she is. And while I can't say that the pace in this particular framework is sustainable for 13 episodes, I do enjoy how this first episode really took its time to get into Jessica's headspace in the aftermath of the Kilgrave incident.

Watched the first ep, really like it. IJJ works for me as a slow burn mood piece than an action superhero series.
