Wow, phantom breaker battlegrounds is a huge get. Also hoping for news from cosmic star heroine, salt and sanctuary and fata morgana/localisation projects soon.

I hope we'll learn the announcements for the coming weeks soon. Need to plan ahead!

And I don't know about other people but I am more inclined to buy a game I'm on the fence about once I know what the next weeks will bring. Otherwise I might skip something just to be on the safe side.

So please, LRG, tell us :)

Yea. Since its March, it would be nice to know the rest very soon.

Was hoping they announce all of March a month beforehand since they said they'll try to get it out earlier, but no dice.

I'm kinda curious, I don't know how many us are going to pass on Fallen Legion. For those in the know, what's your impression on people's excitement, or lack thereof, for Fallen Legion on various social media and forums?

Well, that's EXACTLY what I was just talking about....

If LRG reveals their March lineup before Friday, there's a fair chance I'll get those.
If they don't, it's just too risky for me, and I'll skip them.

Yes, that's just me, but still. :)

I'm still 50/50 on it. The game looks kinda... ehh, even though it's exactly my kind of thing. The Switch double version is pushing me towards no, but like so many of my LRG purchases I don't want to miss out on it then find I want it later (and can always flog on e-bay if needed)

So i saw someone get Skullgirls Vita #4559 and 4997 even though the print run was slated to be 3834. Going by that, at least an extra thousand was printed? Thats like 25% of the print. A bit too much for lost mail replacement imo.

Quite a number of people in a FB group are quite unhappy bout it lol

I think the reason why people were complaining was because it didn't match up with what they assumed to be the final print run. Which was 3800ish plus an extra 10% for replacement. And then now it is an extra 1000, 25 percent of the total print.

The final number should be given out imo. Cuz others just thought it was pretty shady to do so.

But at least I know now that they printed an extra 1000 to sell to people who missed out on the preorder. However, I highly doubt that the people mad about it in the FB group will listen to me as I explain it since they're pretty dumb. and won't listen.

If people lose their copies in the mail or delivery, I doubt they're going to complain about extras on hand. Besides, anyone who wanted a copy had time to preorder. I have no remorse for reseller scalpers.

Your right not to waste your time on them. Leave them to be miserable in their idiocy.

I'd consider getting it but there are a couple announced things I'm waiting for (Rabi Ribi, VA11-HALL-A) that could come any week so I feel like I should hold my money just in case they suddenly drop.

I honestly don't care about what people who buy a ton of games they never intend to play think. If you manage to come across a sealed copy of a rare old game, by all means keep it sealed. There are other ways to play it. Or maybe you already own a digital copy. But when you buy a ton of games from a publisher with the intent on keeping them all sealed, never sell them - what is the point of that? If the run is limited, no pun intended, it will still be rare even if you take it out to play and enjoy it. Or to put it in a different way, being sealed isn't what makes games from LRG collectible, imo. It's the fact that they're physical releases. And that's the goal of these companies, to put digital only games in our hands. And why not as many hands as possible then? Maybe it's just me, but I find greater pride in keeping my collection in pristine condition.

I realized way late that I missed the release of the La Mulana special edition but to my relief i got it on eBay for the original price. I was under the impression LRG games universally jump in price and sell out in minutes. Have things changed?

Unless they just drastically underestimate the demand for a game, which has only happened to a handful of games past the initial rush when they started, prices usually hover around their base price.

I think part of the reason is also the fact that LRG have grown so big. They release new games frequently, and many people have given up on collecting them all and only grab the ones they really want. The fact that many of them are also sold on eBay for reasonable prices also means people might not stress out as much about buying them the second they're released.

I collect for Vita only since it's my favorite handheld system of all time. I wish that the runs will be more than 5000 unit because It is easier to grab. Sometimes I struggle to get certain games.

It doesn't bother me how many extra copies LRG prints for a certain run, They need to do that from a business standpoint. I got a replacement from my damaged Vita steam world heist and they handled that very professionally. Those who complain about the extra copies are just minority. They want attention.

Some other companies aren't that professional like LRG. I had a bad experience with special reserve games and my copy of absolver got lost in mail. Their customer service sucks and didn't handle my case properly.. I was promised another copy..but 4 months later nothing shows up. I had to open a case in Paypal just to get me money back.

Had a chance to listen the Retronauts episode during my excessively long commute and had some immediate thoughts:

  • Unless I missed something The House In Fata Morgana is the first time LRG has implied they are responsible for localizing a game for a platform. I say imply because it hasn't been formally announced. On Retronauts they indicate that for their first unannounced localization project they will be releasing it on Vita and porting it to PS4 and goes as far as saying they hope they can port it to Switch. If the game alluded to is Fata Morgana I wonder which platform will sell best and if the Sony and Nintendo platforms will have staggered releases.
  • A smaller run of sturdier Saturn long boxes is mentioned that will cost more. Possibly with a run of 1000 or less. Hell, I am not even actively collecting Saturn right now and I feel like I will want to pick some of those up.
  • Hear Josh and Doug talk a little about how they decide to select a game or developer to work with made me wish there had been less community hostility to the idea of a 'developer edition' and that LRG had maybe included a booklet in the case about the developer. The affection for Bard's Gold and Arcade Distillery really came through in the interview and I think that extras that give further insight into the selection process will attract a new audience segment or further cement the interest of some current buyers.
  • Dammit, now I want LRG to release Speakeasy. All that talk contextualizing Speakeasy made it sound worth preserving!

Skullgirls statement thingy

5,010 copies were produced in total - which covers the ~3,500 which were sold, the developer and our promotional copies, and overage for replacements. The roll of stickers for numbers 0001 - 2000 ended up not being entirely usable, so copies that were sent out are all labeled 2,000 - 5,500, IIRC. Getting a new roll of stickers would have caused another two-week delay which we just couldn't afford at this point.

1500 extra copies seems like a lot for dev/promo and overage for replacements.
Especially since you'll be selling about another 1000 in April online. (which to me, it's a smart move to make those extras and get a bit more revenue, that seems like the actual reason for so many extras)

Numbered from 2000-5500 is super weird though, haha.
I guess in turn, this worked out since the ones you'll be selling next month won't be numbered making the original pre-order batch at least have something special.

They'll sell 1000 from those 1500 like you said, so it's only really 500 left for replacements and such.

I figured it was already planned to port to Switch in addition to PS4, interesting to hear them talking about it.

I actually didn't mind developer editions. So long as I got a copy of the game, whatever they did with the rest of it is fine.

Also totally read that as "Bard's Tale" at first and thought I'd missed an exciting announcement.

I can figure out... one of these hints :(
