PS Blog has an article up about the game.

.....the very first paragraph says "Start exercising your fingers to get ready for some intense rhythm action game some call the "Dark Souls of rhythm games."

Nothing new, really, aside from some new "English" clips of a few songs. Wonder if they'll charge $60 or if we'll get lucky & have it be $50 or lower.

Maybe try to get people here - although not particularly active as of late we have a great and helpful bunch of posters here.

It has been a few months since the Clazziquai DLC - think we will get info on the next pack soon?

I'll try to message a mod to move this thread then.
They seem to be busy with western release. I want that portable 3 DLC now :(

And it's here! Order number was 745, and the Max Edition came with the goodies as advertised on the product page. Didn't bother taking pictures of the bag and poster that were also included.

After playing a dozen of songs, it feels pretty good to play on. Reminds me of the ol' fight stick configurations, though the build quality isn't as bulky as my current stick, but not a big deal to me. Definitely not feeling the cramps with my fingers that I get with the Dualshock. Jumping from the buttons to the turntables is kind of awkward for me, but I imagine I'll get used to this eventually. My only issue is the left and right input buttons, as they don't register if you press them both simultaneously (which is an issue with the console in general). If none of the charts have this input combo, then I suppose the complaint is moot. Any ideas if this is the case? Haven't played all the songs yet, so I'm not really sure. Also loud as hell, but that's expected. The lights are a nice-touch, feels super fancy.

Pretty expensive, but all in all, totally worth.

Well worth the wait! I've played on both Virgoo and Dao controllers and like the Virgoo in sturdiness, but the Dao in overall build and detailed design. Still no word yet on the Partner Program, but hoping something is said next week.
For sure, totally digging it.

To quote from another thread:

Neowiz!
The game will release for $49.99.
Was kind of hoping for $40, but also figured that would've been too low. Glad I can use the extra $10 I had loaded onto my account towards one of the DLC packs.

Not sure if I'll get the GG one considering it doesn't have the songs that I know/like. Gimme stuff from Xrd like what Superbeat Xonic got, or were they perhaps not allowed since that game got those songs?

Guilty Gear pack has 2 of my favorite songs in DJMAX.

I imported the game physically and went through the trouble of getting some Singaporean PSN credit with the intention of buying DLC, but have managed to never unseal the game case. Should I be looking at starting with the NA version despite already having a physical copy I've never played?

Did they ever confirm all DLC will be released world wide on the same day? They might prioritize asia release first.
Or even those DLC that is already available might not make it day 1 for EU/US release.

I think I'll give this game a whirl. I've been dying for a rhythm game of late. I picked up Xonic on the switch but it just hasn't clicked with me.

Just gonna quickly quote myself from the hype check thread...

This game is absolutely fantastic - I bought it a few weeks ago off the japanese store before the western release date was announced, which was kinda foolish of me really, but it was so worth it. It just plays so well, most of the songs are so good and the amount of content there for the price is insane. It's definitely a very difficult game, especially if you aren't used to rhythm games, but personally I feel as if Respect is more welcoming than DJMax Portable (or whatever the one that released in the UK PSN store was called).

Some of the maps seem more forgiving this time around for some reason, I dunno if it's because they've added some new, easier variants in or if I've just improved from when I played it on PSP, but it still feels better. A lot of videos online only really show off the incredibly difficult, finger breaking songs, but it's worth bearing in mind that there are four levels of difficulty in the game, and every song tends to have at least two unique maps for each of those, so it doesn't exactly throwing you in at the deep end. The game can be insane if you want it to be, but there's no reason you can't just stick to 4 Button mode (like me :p)

I bought the Trilogy and Clazziquai DLC packs today and almost every single song I've played from them so far is top tier; and the best part is, there're still even more DLC packs to come! The final song count for this game is gonna be crazy - there're already more than 200 songs in total with the DLC.

If anyone's interested, here're a few videos of gameplay from the easier difficulties.

If you like rhythm games at all, please don't pass this up!

Okay, so I'm *kinda* a veteran of Pop'n Music from way back in the PS2 days. Even went so far as to buy a Pop'n Mini controller for it. However I never progressed past 5-button (7-button was removed fairly early on so I never got to try that and 9-button was just too much for me). I enjoy the Project Diva games since they're the closest thing on consoles to the old Pop'n experience, but this looks even closer to that. Would that be an accurate statement? I'd really like to finally find something that recaptures that old Pop'n magic (even if I was never really that good at it).

I think it's pretty accurate to say this is a great deal if you want something like that. It's not exactly the same as Pop'n Music, but I can't think of anything closer on current consoles. Although playing it on a DS4 is obviously going to be quite different then playing pop'n music on its controller.

I'll be fine. I played just as much with the DS2 as I did with the Pop'n controller. Also spent some time playing the PSP Pop'n games so yeah, I'm fine there. Thanks for the info!

Don't sell yourself short! pop'n is pretty intuitive and 9 button works so well. Modern entries in the series have gotten rid of 5 button entirely, so at this point there's no choice in the matter, but it's just as well since sticking with 5 button for too long makes 9 button harder to learn...

Still waiting for a decent price drop on the retail asia version before grabbing this but it's great to see the game in western PSN.

I've only played DJMax Portable. It had this weird "assist feature" where your inputs would count even if you pressed the wrong button, which kind of put me off the game, since there was no way to turn it off. Does Respect also do that?

I remember Black Square had that (plus lag!) but I don't remember the first game having it.

It's been a while for me too, so I'm tempted to get this. Usually get the Korean LEs for this series but just left this on the wayside.

Note correction was a mistake, it's nothing but trash.

Hoping more EU peeps pick this up when it releases in the US, I see so few of them on the keaderboards.

I'm sure a lot of them are just using their Japanese, Korean, or Chinese accounts, so they're stuck with the flags for those regions. Sort of wish I could change it, though, unless there's a hidden option somewhere.

Anyone have any insight in regards to getting something like a Dao FP7 or SVSE5 working on a PS4? I'm guessing it would need a USB->PS4 converter of some kind... and I'm also not sure how the analog parts of those controllers would map (if they would map to anything at all). I know that the game is designed to be played on a controller, but I think it would be amusing to play the game like that. :x

You should be able to play from any PSN account as long as the account the game was purchased on set the console you installed it on as your primary console.

I just think you're not going to see very many people import it because it's a fairly rare practice, even for the most niche games.

This is what I do, but yeah Jiraiza is probably right in that a lot of people play through the Asian account they bought it from, I never thought of that.

I need to get back on this train, haven't even installed the latest patch yet :X

There was a period of time this was a feature in every DJMAX new release. The fact that the newest games ditched it and it was patched out of Trilogy (or made an option?) gives rise to a headcanon theory that it was meant to get around some patent trolling or another and eventually some kind of agreement was reached.

Having banged away on the Virgo Controller on all the modes for a couple of days, I'd say 5B is still the most awkward mode to play on. Still haven't been able to 100% MAX, full combo a song yet; even on those hilariously easy songs. Argh.

Any word on if we'll get the PS4 theme? Considering it was a bonus for getting the game at launch, I would assume it'd be the same for the US?

Trying out the demo and as a complete newcomer, I'm not sure I've had a more noticeable "game clicked" moment than just a minute ago. Started on 5-button (due to old Pop'n Music experience) and did Rock Or Die. Failed repeatedly within the first 20 seconds numerous times, and then suddenly it all clicked and I cleared it. No in-between. Just straight from failing in 20 seconds to clearing the song. Wow.

EDIT: Also, old Pop'n Music muscle memory taking over despite the fact that I haven't played it in nearly 10 years is certainly surprising, haha. I guess you never really lose it.

Ahhhhh, I can't seem to completely get rid of that involuntary mix-up between the middle two white notes, and the blue notes in 6B or 8B. Driving me nuts. I wish someone could debug my nerves and give me a log of why my brain thinks it should be pressing the blue note instead of the white one. I'm definitely better than when I first started with 6B, but still not fully in control of my fingers yet, it seems.

And the scratch note ruins my max combos every time.

I played one of these on my PSP and really loved the game!

3rd party controllers aside they're not going to make charts you can't play with a DS4 :p

Really would like to see the demo first, but the game would take me over the $100 threshold to get the $15 off. Hoping that demo shows up soon.

tried the demo last night, what's the ideal peripheral set up for this game? tried remapping the controller but still didn't feel right.
