So, The game tells me I need four beds and I only have two. I take it the shelters are my beds but I can't build more than the two I already have. How do I unlock more shelters for building?

Played for close to 20 hours. Found out just now I can remove the debris in the base territory. I went from cursing my lack of buildable space to going nuts with elaborate placement planning.

Is there any reason not to carry a bow? Seems like I've ignored all heavy weapons so far because the bow is so useful...even though I only got the recurve just now (so, survival bow up to Lv35)

Guess I'm nearing the end. How many chapters are there?

22, but the end of the story is by no means the end of the game. Most of the stuff is unlocked in the end game.
I just finished the 2nd base defense mission in the end game and received receipes for animal cages I haven't even seen in the game yet and I already have 60 hours under my belt.

Just follow the story chapters, you'll unlock bigger tents with one of the chapters. See above, no need to artificially stretch the early game, as the game really starts picking up at around chapter 16 or so.

10 hours is pretty huge tho (talking about users reviews) honestly, if I game didnt grab me in the first 5 hours, i usually quit

Well people tend to have such short narrow attention spans these days. I blame youtube and social media instant gratification. Like some movies that have slow burns, games can too. Doesn't make them bad just perhaps not for those that need immediate satisfaction.

Someone asked if the song "Snake Eater" is in the game and it is! Just found it in the 2nd map, behind Transporter 2:

It's a small space. You'll reach a dead end. Look above it and you should see the box.

I'm at 66 songs now.

I was unaware that there were two other multiplayer maps. Airport and ruins. Just beat the game and got level 40 rating finally. So what type of stuff happens after end game? Im starting to get a little burnt out on it after 50 hours

Guys i seriously need help. This game has sort of become a habit for me, checking in on my survivors before the update. The food situation is in the gutter. I got 2 goat cages maxed. The large garden and 2 potato gardens just cause but these guys just go throug food like noones business. Do i literally have to hunt everyday for them? Is my food set up wrong? I have 18 people in my base.

You probably have too many people in your base for that early in the game. I guess just hunt and stockpile food and then move forward till you get more things you can do for food.

Base defenses and sub classes are the big thing. There are a few optional things post game in the world too.

In the end game (so far) you get sub-classes with cool abilities like firing 3 arrows in quick succession, the true base management game picks up, a ton of new weapons, tools, armor. Mini-Bosses, new enemy type. And if the rumors are true a good portion still has to be unlocked by Konami like blocked areas on the map and purple workbenches. I have 60 hours of playtime, with 10 hours in Co-Op and haven't met anyone with sniper rifles or orange/yellow gear yet.

Try getting more people on your food teams to get that higher rank? Alternatively I guess plant more gardens!
If you have them, the other animal cages will also help, but you get them from the second or third endgame base digs.

I don't recommend having more than 22 people at the base because of the current limit of food resources.

You can get up to 30 but you'll always be in the negative because the food resources can't meet the demand of 30 people.

I found 2 Zone of the Enders songs near the area where my guide marker is at. Look for a small waterfall. It's on top of it.

Btw, don't enter the space where that exclamation icon is. It's one of those unexplored areas where you will take damage and die if you stay there too long. The box is not in there, lol.

Just found a broken sniper rifle from a weapon case I got from one of those side mission containers.

Also found a quiver for more heavy and flame arrows, as well as Overpressure rounds for the pistol. Apparently, even though it's more powerful than standard ammo, it makes the durability go down quicker. It's exact words are, "durability decline becomes severe."

So I was curious as to how various resources were handled within co-op missions as I wasn't entirely clear on it and these were my findings:
  • Materials found on the mission field do not carry over into your permanent stash afterwards, they are all discarded. The only materials you acquire are the ones from the reward boxes at the end.
  • The same applies for the ammo boxes you find off detonators, the ammo is removed upon returning to the lobby.
  • Any gear repaired remains repaired once returning to the lobby.
When I get home I'll try and check whether crafting ammo and gadgets with materials found within a mission allows you to keep them. If so, I'll just make sure to use up all materials before a mission completion.

That's rough to hear considering a trophy is rewarded at 30. Maybe they don't all have to be there simultaneously though, I don't remember the exact wording. :s

Speaking of trophies, I haven't been able to find a list of all gear/recipes online, so it's gonna' be a tough one.

Trading the stick with a bow? Why would I do that? I love poking over stuff... at least in the early game it seems like the best option?

If you know you have fences, the spear is great. But the bow's risk value is so low it was by far my #1 weapon across the entire game. You can 2-3 shot most enemies without being in danger, whereas without the fence, the spear is still mainly a risky melee weapon. Very early in the game the spear still wins out because you're extremely ammo limited, but once you have a pouch or two, your ammo count skyrockets and the ammo types kick in before you get something similar on melee, as well.

That's good to hear. I usually love bows in games but right now I see no use for it.
Looking forward to using it later in the game!

At the next layer. Quite enjoying my time with it - glad I stuck it past the rough opening (though I guess MGSV was the same in that respect). Anyone want to help me out with where I'm currently stuck.

So I'm trying to secure Sahelanthropus and the 15m wave is a killer. Not really sure how to go about keeping them at bay (I've been using spiked barriers and metal fences and clearing them out when they build up on them. Also end up using all my grenades and molotovs after 5 minutes. I've died pretty much each time, rather than the digger explode. Is there a decent solution for the Mortar Wanderers too?

Go and attack them while they spawn then make your way back for the stragglers.

I used the bow so much the game went from "Metal Gear: Resident Evil" to "Metal Gear: Tomb Raider". Actually it might be better to say "Resident Evil: Tomb Raider" at this point. ;)

Re: Chapter 19
I also struggled badly on ammo, but FWIW I found if you keep roughly behind the big rock, the explosives and machine guns all aim at the rock, which means they hit the wanderers running for the corridor, and the explosives deflect and hurt the wanderers, too. I didn't earn a lot of KP but they honestly destroyed most of the wanderer/bomb output themselves.

This I was trying - ended up getting overwhelmed past a certain point. May give it another go!

Didn't think of this actually. I could probably use some fences to path the Wanderers that way. Thanks!

Oh man this took me by surprise, the length of the defense I was not prepared for. I actually did it first time but only just. I put fences and spiked barriers in the main approach on the ground but I ended up getting absolutely pinned by the mortars.
It ended up a battle of attrition where I was about a minute out but half a dozen mortars were annihilating the digger whilst I tangled with crowds of wanderers that I lured round the corner. It was by far the most intense moment of the game so far for me.

The advice to try and take out the mortars and crowds preemptively seems like a good one. Perhaps try a combination of fences, decoys and mines to get them to cluster before hitting them with grenades or mines.

So is there a list of all the tapes in this game?

I find it pretty cool that there are so many and they're well hidden, every time someone posts about the tapes they've found there's always something new in the list that you didn't even realize was in the game

here's mine so far, still got a good chunk of the maps to explore

I've not seen a full list yet, maybe on reddit. I thought of starting a thread on the discord to post clips of us finding more, but I've not touched the game all weekend so its a bit slim so far.

In terms of tapes, I'm up to 70.

I'll post my list later when I get home.

I was a spear user as well but made the switch to bow and haven't looked back. Very fun to use, especially with the skills you can unlock. Triple shot, higher chance for a critical shot, reduced readying speed but increased damage.

I switched to Heavy ammo now. The quiver let's you carry 60 of them and enemies drop in 1-2 hits. And don't forget, you can pick up your arrows from the floor.

What the hell at the 15 minute siege to retrieve
Sahalanthropus?

Every time I start to really get into playing the game it does something utterly stupid like this to kill my mood.

I don't know if this helps you at all but what happened to me was a special mission where a bear was roaming the spawn of the enemies, he just killed ALLL the mortars and most of the normal ones. That was after trying it for so long without any result. Cheap, I know but man was that a relief. Accidently killed the bear with a mortar in the last 5 minutes but I still had two Heavy Machine Guns, Molotovs and a mortar left.

I think what would've made the mission extremely easy would've been flame arrows, if I had these back then.

Is there any known compilation of obtainable music/nameplates already?

I know some folks on reddit were working on it but I can't seem to find it.

It was brutal but you have to prepare. If you dont have a heavy machine gun turret from Afghanistan, you are going to have a really hard time.

I didnt have it so it was a struggle for me, but here is how i survived.

- I saved all six of my grenades for the mortar enemies. There are five of them and they will do massive damage to your digger from afar. just run up to them and drop a grenade at their feet.
- back stab the bombers. DO NOT let them blow up. They will take down all your barricades.
- Ditch the Bow for this mission and go in with the spear, normal fence and wooden barbed wire fence. You can easily hit enemies through those fences with your spear. The wooden barbed wire lets your one and two handed weapons hit enemies through it.
- Use your Assault Rifles and Shotguns early on. The waves after the 7 minute mark are much easier to handle because of their spawn rates are much more spread out.
- Take out those mortar enemies as soon as they spawn. their explosions can take out mobs of zombies if you can keep them from getting to the digger, but the risk of them hitting the digger is too high.
- Abuse the Spear's sprint attack. it's the most powerful attack in the game. You can start it before you even get close and its second and third hit will take out everyone around you.

I was about ready to give up on the mission on my first or second try at the 7 minute mark with my digger at like 10% health but as soon as i took out those mortar guys it became a lot more manageable. dont even let the mob get to your barricades. Spawn trap them. If you dont have motolovs, get a 5th barricade and put it on the R1 slot along with the grenades.

That defense was absolutely crazy for me, and one of the most intense parts of the game. I had so little ammo and supplies that I barely scraped through. Had to constantly run out to take out bombers and mortars on my own so they wouldn't take out my defenses.

Put me in the camp that didn't mess at all with the mortars, and exploited them to blow up the hordes of wanderers for me.

I just hid behind the rocks with the digger and the Mortar enemies kept hitting the rocks, taking out all the other zombies that were approaching. Occassionaly a mortar bomb would fly over the rocks and hit the Digger, but the damage from the blast was minimal. Just held out like that for the last 3-5 minutes, basically doing nothing and let it rain mortars lol.

I watched my boyfriend play the same segment and he did exactly the same thing so I don't think it was blind luck that I was able to wait out/exploit the enemy like that. Give it a try!

I also did not have the turret. My strategy: I put down spiked/barbed barricades, with a mine before it (Digger side), so that when a mob of zombies would breach the barricade, they'd all get blown up. I also used the Bow, especially flame arrows were useful as the fire damage spreads really fast and hurts a lot. Put down fences and shoot arrows through them. When the coast was relatively clear and I saw a bomber, I'd run out and backstab them. They are useful for taking out large mobs too, if you make them explode in time using fire (molotov/fire arrow). Don't let them come near your defenses though :(

Fence, mine, fence, mine, fence, mine, etc. You might possibly have the extended explosives pouch which will let you hold 10 mines. Other traps work as well. Throw grenades at Mortars. Fight them at their spawns, particularly the bombers. Make the bombers explode in the middle of a bunch of zombies.

Been for a quick explore to the North East of map 1 (Why aye man, flower etc) and came away with loads of resources from exploring and backstabbing a lot of the mobs around transporter 10. Also Composite Bow, Heavy Machine gun, heavy plate vest and some other stuff. Place is a gold mine.

Since the Heavy machine gun is a gadget do you need to craft ammo for it as well, or is it just like the ones you see out in the open?

Finished it earlier.

Have to say I loved it more than MGSV overall, played more or less 3-4 hours a day since launch so the value proposition for my £20 has been fantastic,

Only bug bears would be the repetitive mission types towards the end of the Campaign and not being able to play more of the Co-op maps straight away..

Apart from that though I just loved the tension. Every time I went outside base camp, especially during the early stages of the Campaign it was just so intense, it felt llike everything is on the line and whereas the the co-op missions are easy going and fun when you're on your own far away from a Transporter with all your gauges and supplies running out it gets really damn tense.

Some of the survival aspects get significantly less severe as you go on and you don't even have to think about them much around the midway point. But that tension remains, especially as more difficult enemies get introduced later on.

It's crazy this seems to have a sizeable end game as well. Crazy value for money and one of the most surprisingly fun and gripping games I've played in recent years.

I think my biggest complaint with the game is the cheaping out on cut scenes sometimes.
I get that some of the conversation scenes are supposed to be reminiscent of the codec scenes, but for example the scene where
Chris is kidnapped
should have been a cutscene, not a textual conversation. And shortly after that, I would've preferred to see
Seth transforming
rather than just the aftermath.

That and the AI definitely cheats sometimes. I've yet to encounter a Mortar enemy that didn't suddenly turn around the instant I was in backstab range. Sometimes you can catch them in time, but there was literally no reason for every single one of them to turn around at the last moment like that.

I totally agree on cheaping out on the story elements. Better cutscenes and voice acting would have given it more of the AA-AAA game feel but probably wasn't in the budget.

Like every enemy in the game (like, everyone of them), they can hear you and get alerted even if you crouch run up to them. It's just that most of them are slower to turn around than the Mortar. If you crouch walk, you can successfully get behind everything.
