When the update happens on March 6th, I assume Year 1 and 2 operators prices are remaining at 25000 and it is just the base operators that are changing?

As I got 25,000 to spend and was thinking if I should wait or not.

Edit: Nevermind, I am going to buy the year 2 operators bundle and use renown for any good season 3 characters.

That toxicity update can't come soon enough. The community has been really awful as of late.

So on PC...if you run into Monika.NB and longhairs13, just TK them...They hadned the other team armor and played the round 8v3. Next round we had to TK them and stand at spawn on the roof of tower until they left, since Ubi changed vote kick to 4 votes...

Most annoying was them trying to say "its casual we're just having fun"

This is why casual needs to get reworked. It's not welcoming at all for new players too which makes it hard for them to adapt or even learn.

As someone new to the game, watching "casual" streamers play has helped me a lot.
Stuff like "kill holes" and smarter ways of droning in the beginning.

This is a really hard game to pick up, the maps are still a total mess to me and I get killed from behind like a dumb dumb sometimes.

Looking forward to the update, having more Operators is going to be nice.

QUESTION
Are there any weapon attachments that are a must that I should get right away? Or just wait until they are free?

Any gun you want to use, you want at least stuff like grip or muzzle attachment (and sights besides the acog aren't REQUIRED but I can't play without them), but at this point if you can wait until tuesday it'll save you like 500 renown per operator that you don't set up.

If you can get any streamers that seem nice and patient to play with you, it might help. Playing with other people is what reinforced map knowledge to me - alone I learned the layouts, but in a group I learned both the teamplay of clearing rooms as well as being forced to learn room names instead of just "Hey uh. over there"

Like, the difference between vaguely knowing where something is, and someone saying "Blitz is coming up yellow stairs" and you being able to drop down a hatch and flank that sprinting shielded asshole, is the difference between a win and a loss.

Yeah, great points.
"That Brazilian woman is hiding in eh... that corner when you come in over there!" was something I said earlier.
I don't know the names OR the call outs for the rooms.

I'll keep playing casual until I level more, maybe 20?
And then I'll see if someone here maybe wants to team up!

After two years I've just started to get into this game. It's so God damn good, I've managed to get my friends into it and I am hyped for the 6th when all the base characters are unlocked. Is there any sites or resources that are good for operator strategies and loadouts?

I'm not against the toxicity update/changes, but I am curious how it works? Are they collecting voice data as evidence? Does it only effect PC's chat box? I've had people report me just for picking their character or accidental TK or failing a clutch or being too good or for not participating in shenanigans. Sir Guts got that XBL ban for no reason as well. So again I'm not saying the toxicity stuff shouldn't be taken more seriously, but I am curious what evidence they are using to justify action.

Ironically a lot of toxicity actually comes from people misusing that report button as a form of revenge.

I am glad they did. People were abusing the crap out of it. Lots of troll "LULZ" kicks.

I went gold to bronze in only 5 solo queue matches. Most of those had people leaving my team.
Funny cause that was me today. Just lost a ranked game and sit at Bronze 1 :} . I got so close to plat today but it just went down hill fast.

but now a group of 2 can just ruin a match with no chance to stop them
If you run a squad of two or three then yea it sucks. It is beneficial if you are solo queuing though.

On PC the toxicity ban comes from the chatbox just like Epi said on reddit the other day. He also said you can say fuck and shit but racial abuse and stuff is forbidden. On console this won't work because there's no chat so we'll have to stick with the stupid unfair XBL reporting system. I don't know about the PSN reporting system but I believe it's the same too

Oh, just chat box stuff... Well, I haven't seen the PC Ver.'s chatbox in over a year so I dunno how bad it is now, but I remember more verbal abuse than typed. And on console all the toxicity is gameplay/verbal, so good luck with that Ubi.

PSN does have a reporting system but nobody uses it lol. We even had a topic not long ago on gaming side that was asking "why can't I report people on PSN?" You can, but most people never look for it so not many know about it. I'm familiar with XBL's Reputation system from the 360 days and Gears of War community full of ultra shitbags which would get a band of friends together and report people en masse to ruin your profile just cuz you stomped them.

Ever since XBL's system, it kinda makes me weary against user-reported toxicity, many use it as a tool of revenge and it's not fair.

On console ubisoft doesn't handle that stuff anyway, it's MS/sony that do. If you've had text off on pc, I mean you're missing 99% of the toxicity then anyway. Most people spamming the N word are too cowardly to dare saying it loud enough for their moms to hear them. You can still report people the old way too, but this change is

A) public toxicity ban notifications to help curb this shit to begin with (This is already in as of this week),
B) automatic chat filter banning. This doesn't exist until the patch hits, so now if someone says the N word they're automatically going to get flagged for a suspension and if it's severe it'll go farther. This is the PRIMARY benefit of this whole thing, and they want to expand from there.

The feature this game needs is a mute function that mutes text chat and allows you to mute the other team. A ban system is just going to convert slurs into not-all-that-subtle trolling and ban baiting which isn't that much of an improvement.

I report pretty much everyone who team kills when I play on XBL and that is through XBL and the game itself.

The toxicity stuff is for the pc text chat only

Its not hard to determine what should be banned and what shouldnt.

Epi confirmed they're working on it.

To clarify, what Epi confirmed is SPECIFICALLY what was asked for - muting a player muting both voice and text for that player. You can already turn text chat off completely, but it's all forms which is kind of overkill for most people.

Man, I wish the starter edition wasn't such a bad proposition. I'd love to try this game out before spending money, but I've missed the free weekends.

There'll be more if that's your holdup, or you could buy it on steam and refund it if you don't like it (You might be able to on uplay? I'm not sure. on steam you sure could though). Obviously the real issue is that 2 hours isn't enough time to even get good enough to consistently get *A* kill probably.

Even by community manager standards, which is kind of a Baghdad Bob position, I've always found Epi lacking. Didn't he say he had moved up in the world and wasn't the guy for this stuff anymore anyway a long while back?

Regardless I'll believe it when I see it. Why the hell would they bother retooling some server based reporting system to deal with this when the five minute fix of the mute button is at hand and has been clearly needed for years?

Also that phrasing is scary. "muting a player muting both voice and text for that player". But I don't think you have a mute option for the opposing team, so if they forget to add that it will still be useless for half the toxicity.

This is the simplest thing in the world. Text chat options of "all, team, none". And a per player on both teams mute button that applies to all communications. And a toggle for the stupid ban notifications wouldn't hurt. Like hey how much do you think I really care that some player I've never seen got banned while playing in a different match from me? Does that really need to be on my HUD in game?

Getting rid of all the racial slurs would be a huge first step. When people do stupid shit to try and get around the censors, they just seem even more sad and pathetic than usual. Just don't make me have to keep team killing these morons.

a ban system is the most basic thing they should implement at the very start - people will codify language and attempt to play with the filters, but really, its their accounts they're gambling on - as long as there is the risk of Ubi updating the filters, there will be a group of people who'll shut up and won't risk it. It's a net gain.

Yep. All it takes is sending in some screenshots of people typing |\| --------s to get them to throw that in the filter too, it's not hard. They also retroactively record the chat with this so presumably they can even just go back and hit people if it happens.

If people are seriously saying "OH BUT YOU CAN USE A DIFFERENT WORD" as a reaosning for why they shouldn't do it...no? You can always get around it ,but at some point you're just saying gibberish and it has no meaning anymore. If people just stop saying it and start saying "SHIT" then we've won. It's that simple.

Depends if the bans are IP bans or not. There are people who just buy cheap starter editions for burner accounts already.

I don't own any Y1 or Y2 operators. Is it worth dropping the money to buy em all or is there just specific ones I should pick up instead?

The number of people willing to throw away 15 bucks every time they want to say the N word for no reason is significantly smaller than the number of people that value their accounts and playtime.

I think 20 bucks per season (what theycost in game) is worth it, but that's really a question only you can answer. It's sad that you can't try them out in Terohunt lone wolf or something, but the reality is there are LOTS of good DLC ops, and more importantly they're all fun in their own ways and your playstyle might not be my playstyle or vice versa. If you're asking the question, 20 bucks might be more than you want to spend for 8 characters.

In terms of RAW usefulness I'd say you want at least Hibana, Mira, Valkyrie and maybe Ying or Buck, but really I've had a good time with every op when I've committed to learning them.

Do you guys think that the ranked system should turn to a longer season, without being tied to a single DLC release? I like the ranked system that league provides but I've been playing that for a while. Just weird to me to have such drastic swings in rank across just one play session.

Buck, Frost, Blackbeard and Valkyrie are all great Y1 operators, I use them a lot. The only Y2 op that I use is Mira, but I have heard great things about Hibana. I don't even know how players buy the other year operators and how much they actually are price-wise.

Hibana is Year 1. The Y1 pass probably has more of the good ops if you're interested in splitting the difference.

How to buy them is either 5 bucks individually in R6 credits, or 25000 renown, OR if you buy r6 credits and go to 'unlock operator' and scroll down, it has legacy operator year 1 and 2 bundles. Those get you basically all of those season pass characters and are 20 bucks worth of R6 credits each. So, if individually they cost twice as much as they do in the bundle.

For those that play regularly, what is the best edition to get right now for someone like myself who hasn't played since launch? All of them are on sale on PSN, wanted to pick it up ASAP.

I just didn't know if there's a huge advantage to having something other than the base edition...

If you can afford it, the complete edition will save you a ton of time grinding for the year 1 and 2, and the year 3's will unlock as they come.

Otherwise, just stick to the standard - you can always opt to buy the season passes seperately if you want to invest more into it - not sure if its more expensive that way.
