Other than the box office news, I just found people arguing whether Okoye could beat Wonder Woman.

I just realized T'Challa was the one who designed the Civil War suit.

Who would of thought he would have better taste than his sister lol, cause the Civil War suit really does look better.

Btw, has the box office news been mentioned? I don't know how reliable Rotten Tomatoes is on this stuff on their twitter but

I don't think most of them are overrated, this one definitely was, after those review my expectations were very high. Feels like all the ingredients were there, and the characters were great but something was off, it didn't really grab me until the end when Black Panther returned. Also anyone else thought that this was like a Lion King x Thor crossover?

It does have similarities with Thor and Hamlet(which Lion King is adapted from), but that was inevitable since they all deal with Kings/royalty and the usurpation of power.

The side characters in BP are getting more praise than

Thor, Hulk, War Machine, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, and Vision ever got.

Even M'Baku is getting praised more. Think about that for a second

Because this cast was so fucking good. Like movies like Homecoming or Ragnarok would have one or two standout new characters. BP went ahead and gave us like 6. And then on top of that, several of them had well-defined arcs.

Is there a petition we can sign to get the 4 hour cut of the movie on blu-ray! I've already seen the movie twice and just want to learn more about the Cinematic Universe version of Wakanda, its tribes, and its politics.

The "4 hour cut" probably isnt what youre expecting. Its likely just an assembly cut, all the scenes put together in order before editing.

If it's what I'm thinking of, it's a certain fanart from yesterday or before then with T'Challa standing unmasked doing the Wakanda Salute and Wonder Woman standing across from him crossing her arms as well.

This film has stayed with me far more than any MCU film to date, like I'm still feeling what it made me feel at the time when I think about it.

I need to see it again, but I think this might actually be my favorite MCU film.

I'm so mad I haven't rewatched it already, too busy

Oh that's pretty sick.

The only thing that was coming up with something about "If Okoye fights Wonder Woman, every black woman is jumping in to help. Good luck, Wonder Woman"

Searched a little further, it was Jamilah Lemieux who tweeted that out and Twitter had a field day with it.

The supporting cast was great. They stood out more then T'Challa at times.

If I had to say who I was most pleasantly surprised by it would be M'Baku. Not being an avid comic reader my only previous exposure to the character was the Earths Mightiest Heroes cartoon. Him being an honorable warrior with a sense of humor was great and I hope to see more of him.

Also Shuri needs her own movie.

Got to do a bit of bitchin here, but I do not like the Lamar portion of All The Stars. SZA kills it and it fits perfect with the ending sequence. Even better in the video, but the Lamar part is lazy. Lyrically, flow, and with making it match the credits/video. It suffers from the same shit a lot of catchy pop songs have... let's insert a rapper and give him 30 seconds, to an otherwise great pop song.

Sorry. Saw it a few hours ago and now I'm in a mood.

Not the best Marvel movie ever made like some are toting it (Spiderman 2, Guardians, Logan, Days Of Future Past, and Avengers still surpass it), but I'll put it in the same tier as Winter Soldier.

The end credits of Civil War take place 3 weeks after the events of Civil War. BP takes place 1 week after. At the end of Civil War in the prelude comic, BP reaches out to Cap and Bucky to apologize and offers to help him overcome his problem. Before taking Zemo to authorities.

Bucky and Cap go on the mission to break the avengers out of the Prison. Once that's done then they reach out to T'Challa.
I don't think that makes sense, especially considering the change in locales between the two scenes. In the first we are seeing Bucky getting frozen in a lab much like Shuri's (if not literally Shuri's), but in the second Bucky is waking up in a literal hut. Why would they move Bucky from the lab unless they had to (because it got blown up)?

The Hundred Acre Wood
Finally saw this last night. My thoughts:
+ Supporting cast was great. Honestly they outshone Chadwick Boseman.
+ Michael B Jordan in particular was fucking amazing. I'm sad he's dead because he was electric on screen.
+ Awesome soundtrack. Totally feeling it.
+ Really great worldbuilding, a TON of stuff is communicated very efficiently.
+ It's always great when you have a villain that you can feel for.
+ Meta, but really important, valuable messaging that comes through clearly at a time when we really need to hear it. Bridges, not barriers.
+ Very efficient, really fun.

- A lot of the stellar cast was underutilized. Serkis and Jordan are the most fun characters to watch and they both underuse them and they kill them both off.
- The action scenes in this were... underwhelming, in a lot of ways. The casino brawl was a mess. A lot of the impact and energy in the challenge fights was lost based on poor camera work. Compare those scenes to John Wick or Creed respectively. The camera should help the audience feel the action. Black Panther is smooth, agile, deliberate. The camera was jerky, unfocused, chaotic. Not great.
- Part of the reason I think the characters were underused was there was too much story for the runtime. I feel like we needed to spend more time with these characters in their quiet moments, with more self-reflection.
- M'Baku's tribe showing up at the end doesn't feel as good as it should. Again, not enough time with these characters and the rift between them.

It's a really good movie on the cusp of being great. I had a fun time watching it. But I also felt a little unsatisfied.

Huh?

So no time could have passed from the the post of CW to the post of BP

Finally got a chance to see this. Great film and I wish I could go re-watch already. This was a well executed multi-layered plot that came together very well and the film had so much to say. I don't think people were ready for this one.

The Casino fight scene was chaotic with the camera work, but I could still follow what was going on well and I loved the use of the long shot along with how the soundtrack kicks in when shit is really about to go down (you hear the "Dora Milaje" chant start getting in when things start getting turned up). It was nice to see Michonne show that she has spear skills on top of being a top-tier swordsman! Also, the fighting scenes were 5x more fun than any Batman film, so I was fine with it.

The only disappointment I had was in the CGI. Not sure why that wasn't executed better. That's only a minor complaint though as it didn't hinder my enjoyment at all.

My top 5 rankings not in any particular order:

Logan
Dark Knight
Black Panther
Civil War
Winter Soldier/Deadpool/The Avengers/Batman Begins (I have no idea what to choose)

Saw it today.

I thought it was ok. Not bad but not amazing either. Probably the mid tier of Marvel stuff. The reviews are a bit too generous I think.

Felt like Killmonger was undercooked. Which is a shame because both the character and the actor could have really done something great with more screen time. I think the movie should have just ditched Serkis's character and stayed with one bad guy throughout. On the other hand, I really dig T'challa's arc. Seems like he is learning and growing in both the films we saw him in. Set design, costumes etc were on point, it all looks absolutely lovely. I thought the CGI was ok too, I expected it to be a lot worse going by the reviews.

And it still seems like Marvel cant edit a good fight scene to save their life. Why do we need 5 cuts on one punch and then show it from a stupid ass camera angle? Really Marvel, just spend some more cash and get someone from outside of hollywood to help with your hand to hand fight scenes.

I'm sure it has been mentioned but this movie had the best Q-Branch scene in years.

Because he learned how to operate within the US Military. It's hard to not be "evil" when you learned all your lessons from them.

He learned a skillset from the CIA that allowed him to carry out his own agenda.

I am personally conflicted on whether or not I would call Killmonger evil in the film. He's a product of childhood trauma and abandonment, not to mention living as a minority and knowing there are people out there who can help but won't lift a finger.

At some point he has to take the blame for his actions but there is a lot of baggage there.

I don't think that's a good excuse really. He can be in the military not be like a cartoon villain. I mean cap is former military and not this crazy person so is post mind control Bucky.

Killmonger is the antagonist. Jesus...

You want someone with the same viewpoint but less extreme methods? That's what Nakia is there for.

Finally seen this movie.. It was good, but honestly not as good as the hype indicated. to me anyways..in terms of marvel movies I think winter soldier is better than it(I think winter soldier is the best marvel movie, period)
The positives:
-It was good as a standalone movie; no need to have seen the other marvel movies to have seen this
-Plot was good and the movie was nicely paced
-Acting was generally decent
-Killmonger, M'baku and Shuri were really good characters..really liked those three
-As a Nigerian, I appreciated the costume design(very african)
-Message was on point(being open and welcoming is good; isolationism is bad)

Negatives:
-For am movie set in Africa, i was disappointed all the main protagonists were played by American actors; surely they could find at least one form the thousands of actors produced by Nollywood, and the other African film industries?
- The armoured Rhinos...just lol
-Some of the accents sounded iffy at best

Overall a very good comic book movie..my quick take

I can't stop playing the score. Killmonger's music is pure fire. Saw the movie a second time and those violins playing in T'challa's music as he rises to become king in the ancestral plane (also at the end of the movie when T&K look upon the Wakandan sunset), damn near brings a tear to my eye. Every time.

Marvel finally put some damn effort into a score. What a tremendous difference it makes.

Let all the feels rush in.

The movie was better than the recent Marvel output (*GoTG2, Thor Ragnarok) but something felt off:

The cast was amazing, the secondary characters were all charming, but T'Challa felt like a prop. and the third act was weak. The final battle was just nonsense and the choreography of the final fight was very bad.

The movie had little moments to make Black Panther BE Black Panther. Otherwise I enjoyed everything, it felt they really nailed Wakanda as a place. I give it a 4 stars out of 5, but the movie was not what it was hyped to be.
I wish we had more of Killmonger as well, and that he didn't go stereotypical evil as soon as he sitted on the throne.

Some people really have a problem with Erik being an evil black man. I mean, I get it.

The neutral antagonist you're looking for is M'Baku. Appreciate him. He's there, too.

What are you talking about?

Firstly, Erik wasn't crazy. Not once in the film is that hinted by anyone, especially when Klaw is right there as a completely hammy comic book contrast.

Secondly, he'd nothing like Cap or Bucky. Dude literally was a death squad ops guy. Willingly. Which neither Cap nor Bucky were.

Thirdly, the only possible way i can see for you thinking he was crazy was how he spoke. And I hope that's not the truth, because that's pretty messed up.
