I can confirm that downsampling is amazing, bought the X despite only have 1080 and it is still day and night.

MS published it, like Mass Effect, which they were able to move over to BC swiftly, i assume they were able to untangle themselves from all the legal agreements needed from 3rd parties etc

It would seem pretty silly to me if Microsoft had to ask for permission to X enhance any game. Yes they need permission for them to be used in the emulator, since they are hosting and distributing the game files, but everything else should not require any permission. Microsoft is not modifying or altering the code in any way, and it seems pretty crazy that a resolution bump would require an express permission from a publisher, especially since the regular BC already comes with other graphical perks such as 16x AF, faster loading time, better framerates, ect.
You're right, its only a few guys on this forum, there certainly wasn't a fair amount of the general public who really enjoyed gaming and games on their 360s last gen who would be interested in having them looking and playing great on their 4k tvs, along with every other benefit of the X. Nope, nobody at all.
Been Playing through Crackdown for the first time and wow, these enhancements make it look so clean! It's really crazy how good it looks for how old it is. Plus enhancements aside, it turns out Crackdown is super crazy fun. This enhancement initiative rocks, I hope they keep adding more.
Crackdown 1 is/was by far the best new first party ip xbox 360 had.
The number of people in this thread arguing that it's "only" an up-resolution of "low quality" textures implies to me that there aren't nearly enough screenshots here.

It's the single most compelling reason for me to get an X. I'll probably still skip the console for now since I don't have much faith in the rest of the gen being too compelling for Xbox, but I'll certainly pay a lot of attention to how they launch their next system.
They are doing more than a resolution bump. Not to mention asking permission, as a platform owner, not only covers your ass legally but is basic, common courtesy to your Third Party Publishers/Partners who publish their games on your platform.
Remember when you bought the Halo 3 beta and got this little sleeper hit in Crackdown? God that was amazing.

Yes to a certain extent. Games like Witcher 2 were more cutting edge than games coming out much earlier in the 360 life. Later games had better textures and lighting. Games had these great textures but 720p resolution hid a lot of the details that are now being seen. That particular shot is zoomed in, but it is very representative of some of the improvements. Both this game and Forza Horizon to me has seen some of the biggest jumps and also Gears of War 3.
It runs at a higher resolution, but no, FH1 doesn't look anywhere near as good as FH2 on a technical level. The IQ is obviously better in 4K, though.
You said it wouldn't move units...nothing about public or mass adoption. So...
I hate you both. And whoever posted the screens of Mirror's Edge and the first Forza Horizon, hate you too.
Just wish some of my dream titles would make it across, namely Forza 4 and Out Run 2 (from OG Xbox).
I'm hoping for Reach; assuming the 4K update for MCC is finished by the end of the year, Reach will be the only non-4K Halo title in existence (Spartan Assault doesn't count because it undermines my claim)!
I think I'll have to start Crackdown all over again, my stats are not maxed out yet, and I've already gotten rid of all the gangs. Anyway, a few pics.
Damn that sucks. Glad I got it just as it became BC digitally. Honestly though, the game is easily worth that price. It's fantastic in every way.
Right now Reach is already the only Halo that can't even be played in 720p.
Crackdown looks amazing and it's such a great fucking game. I have a feeling i'll be playing it instead of the new releases i bought recently.

Yep. Wasn't a fan of what MS was doing salty on this gen but they're redeeming themselves in a big way with this. Give us Reach, Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect Trilogy and they would be the heroes of the generation.

I'm not going to say it's going to make a big difference in sales but that's not really the point. For anyone that gives any sort of shit about BC it's an amazing feature.
Why would anyone go out of their way to downplay such an amazing free feature anyway?
maybe the same people who make a direct comparasion with other remakes, remasters, bc on xbox its a good thing Thats for sure nobody in its sane mind gonna deny that
I still wanted to buy an X. I bought an original Xbox one like 5 months after it released. It took a dump and it was only 50 dollars more expensive to get the S. For the X, I was all in at 400. Five hundo was the deal breaker for me, but these screenshots look awesome. I want some ninja gaiden at 4k down sampled to a 1080p tv because I spend all my money on my car and can't afford one of them fancy oleds. I thought that game looked ridiculous at 480 x 540 or whatever it was back in the day. Those gifs from earlier. Nostalgia may sell me an X if they keep adding to the library at this rate.

God the game was so repetitive and boring. Couldn't even bring myself to play more than 4h, and that was already stretching it
I got a 1000G and I thought it was pretty annoying, especially coming into it from AC2. The combat was not polished at all, and the collectibles were pointless. I was on a "try to clear as many games 100% from my backlog as I can" run, so I endured, ended up 1000G-ing about 20-30 games in the end. Felt good. But that game was a slog, yo.
