Kind of at a cross-roads of what to do now. I got my full Rathalos set and Azure blade, I've beat Nergigante. Not sure if I'm ready for Elder Dragons.

Should I just clear up all of my optionals? Might reassess my set to see if any Nergigante stuff beats Rathalos and farm him, luckily I got his gem on my first fight with him.

How many more new monsters are left after Nergigante? Not colour/tempered, like legit new monsters? I'm assuming after the next 3/4 then the entire upgrade tree will be open right with no more ?????s
Don't worry about the other elders. Nergigante is harder than pretty much all of them, so if you can beat him reliably they won't be too hard.

"DID YOU SEE THAT"
"You threw me in the air and I did this wicked spin attack"

I love the reaction of people finding out about the upswing sending players in the air. This fucking game is beautiful.

Ah I had no idea. World is really my very first one that I have properly played. But that definitely is an improvement over the previous games for sure then. Overall I really love the monster designs and it's incredibly hard to pick a favorite (so far) but there's just something about Paolumu and the incredibly cranky look on his face that makes him so goddamn funny to me.

And I just love Kulu Ya Ku. If you don't hurt him he will be friendly towards you as well, and he'll just go about his business. Of course I have to hunt him for some great materials but sometimes I wish I didn't have to, he's just great. Those little things he does, digging up rocks or eggs, yeah I just love it. Amazing animations too.

When Kuluyaku is nearing death and goes to a cave to eat egg, I always wait for it to finish eating the egg before capturing it.

Jagras Hacker III is best GS in game and easy as hell to augment. Ironic that the biggest pushover monster in the game has one of the best weapons too.
I was just reading about this on reddit. Im shocked.

I'm working on the wyvern jawblade now but Fuck these arena quests. What a pain in the ass.

What are the colors of the vials? White, green, grey and red? Anyone knows?

Ok i see. Strange choice
I dunno what you're talking about here but i searched for monster hunter white green gray red vial and found this

Looking at the bow coatings, I see there are a number of different highlighting formats for them, some are grayed out, some are red, some are white, some are green, and some have a plus next to them. Does anyone have a solid idea of what all these mean? White and gray are obvious, but I don't know what the rest mean.

Your bow will show 3 colors on coatings, when looking at it "solo": Grayed out, White and White with a plus *Grayed out == can't use that coating with your bow *White == Can use that coating with your bow *White with a plus == Bow is great at using that coating

When comparing 2 bows, coatings will have one of 4 colors: * Grayed out == both bows cannot use that coating * Green == the new bow can use that coating, your current one can't * Red == the new bow can't use that coating, your current one can * White == both bows can use that coating

I think I'm done with MH:W for now. I really wanted to do all the optional quests but I don't want to figure out how to unlock the rest of 9*. I'm getting pretty jaded already. Oh well as long as I did the main ones. I pretty much did everything I wanted to do. HR100, 500 kills, and maxed out every LS tree. If anyone knows how much quests I'm missing let me know what they are so I can do them later when I return.

I'm carting like five times per arena quest, solo. My ego is all bruised.

Also, there's something wrong with the leaderboards. How come I can only see a handful of people in there?

Congrats. One weapon down, 13 more to master. Might as well try out a melee weapon, I think. Why not try the impregnable fortresses of the lance or gunlance?

I'm thinking Gunlance. Hmmmm.

I am surprised by Bow apparently jumping to number 2 behind Long Sword as the most popular weapons in MHW, but I suppose I can understand why, it does make many situations much easier to handle.

HR101 nice :D

Just saw this vid someone posted on the xbox MonHun club. Had no idea they turfed

I watched videos of Elders Turf War.

Nergigante vs Kushala. Nergigante completely win, Kushala doesn't stand a chance.

Nergigante vs Teostra (your vid). Teostra deals damage to Nergigante initially, but then Nergigante slams Teostra.

Kushala vs Teostra. Both deals damage to each other, no clear winner.

Vaal Hazak vs Odogaron. Flesh puppy have guts to challenge an Elder Dragon...

The thing is that it was hand holdy in a very modern "let's make sure that we give players a clear goal to advance the main quest", but it didnt really introduce actual mechanics and concepts organically, which was what I struggled with.

I just did the second Zora quest (they've got some cool ideas but man is the progression through those quests haphazard), and it seems like... I'm in post game? It started unlocking tons of reskins and whatnot, so I'm just not sure if there's something to strive for other than hunting more monsters and getting stronger.

You're in high rank. That's not post game. That is the REAL game. You're finally playing the actual Monster Hunter.

Whats the deal with sinister cloth?
You can make Death Stench gear with it.

Which Bow have you been using for the Xeno fight? Or which ones are recommended? Just Diablos and/or Nergigante bows? I'm assuming elder seal doesn't matter with Xeno right?

How do you add something like Poison to a bow that doesn't have it already?

Nergi Bow primarily. I only just made the Xeno one recently to match my gear. Haven't used it against Xeno since I haven't gone back to fighting Xeno.

Poison needs to be part of the Bow. If it's locked, then you need Free Element Gear or deco to unlock it, iirc

Nah, there's specific sets of skills to unlock coatings so Bows that cannot use specific coatings can use them, it's not Free Element, I forget the name of them though.

Need recommendation on what weapon to use after more than 200 times playing as bow, lol.
I'd suggest Charge Blade, as a fellow Bow user who played CB in past games. It has the same side stepping and mobility you're used to with Bow. It's a little more complex than some weapons so you wont be bored, similar to how Bow is a little busier than some weapons. And it can do basically anything you want to focus on, so you'll get some experience with everything melee related. It can charge up to block as well as a lance, it can focus on high damage, or it can be used for slower, two handed heavy damage.

I know it's silly to be disappointed in the content of a game that lasted 120 hours, but I'm hoping they add more quick. I'm HR40 and have cycled into the "hunt monsters to hope for gems to hunt monsters slightly faster, but then get a bunch of duplicates and try it again" loop. Mix in some "farm tracks to get missions to hunt monsters to get items to hunt monsters" here and there. Still an amazing game, but it kind of plateaus when your only choices are to do the exact same things but hope for a better reward. A few changes that would really help:

- Allow us to "buy" investigations instead of searching for them. It makes no sense why Nerg tracks would tell us about another monster anyway
- Give each investigation one guaranteed reward (probably a ruby/gem) so you know you're getting at least one thing you need (or hell, take a hard-ass one-time mission and let us pick a reward like we would at the Elder Melder - charge a bunch for it so there's risk as well). Waiting 3 weeks for enough gold tickets to get one item is not a sustainable solution
- Allow investigation sorting and bulk delete
- Add HR2/3/4 levels so we can tick up the difficulty to keep a challenge up, with better rewards

I'm going to keep up through HR49, but I don't see myself getting to 100 until there are some substantial additions.
