The MCL33 looks amazing. I'll ship blue + orange all the way. Quite excited for the eventual Toro Rosso vs McLaren battles.

Do you guys know of any documentary film like Truth in 24? The Amazon McLaren series left me wanting more.

I can't help but worry that halo is going to make things worse for head on collisions and serve to direct the car towards the driver's head, it would be very rare for the middle pillar to recieve a perfectly head on impact that would save the driver, but we've seen near misses before, the halo video even shows such a crash so hopeful they've proven otherwise.

Renault-powered teams left a LOT of points on the table due to reliability so I can see why they'd want to focus on that, but imagine if they fail anyway....

And I don't think the grid penalties are all that important anyway. I think Red Bull would rather be on par with their speed and having to start every 3th race from the back (and still end up right behind Merc and Fer in position) than coming short every single race. Better for the points, better for the viewers, better for the sponsors.
Hell, supercharge the engine, make sure the Bulls are the fastest on the track, but with a fresh engine start at the back every race. I prefer that over watching them lonely on P3 constructors.

So... if we sum up...
Renault limits the performance of the new engine to match late 2017 in order to maximise reliability.
Honda limits the performance of the new engine to increase mileage during testing and first races.
Mercedes had to review the engine (software only? I don't have more insider info than that) due to first-ignition issues.

Anyone has any info about Ferrari ? They cannot be the only ones without an engine rumor/info?

By the way there's an interview of Sergei Sirotkin at motosports... and i was surprised

Have you met Frank Williams yet?
Yes, many times. Actually, there's a story of how he first saw me at base this year. I was doing regular – two, three times a week – pitstop practice with mechanics. I'm on the wheel gun. One time we were practicing, I wasn't in uniform and Frank showed up, and I had my back turned to him. He watched it, and then said – this new mechanic, looks a bit raw, needs more time to train with the wheel gun. He was told later that it was me. So that was our first meeting this year.

I want to believe it's not a fabricated piece of personal communication, and he really did share time with the pit crew (the only top-of-the-crop part of the team lately and sadly) :)

Motorsport.com with that clickbait title.

Sirotkin seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Of course every hates him for ruining the Kubica comeback, let's see how he mentally handles all the fan criticism.

Jesus christ what a shit show.

That's this entire engine era really. Renault and Honda struggle developing a PU, but fuck it, lets still cut down to three engines an entire season. Complicated and ruining the show.

By the 2021 engine changes, Mercedes will have won every title between 2014 and 2020 and Hamilton will have 7 titles.

Mercedes were three years ahead of everyone else when the Turbo era started. It's actually impressive that Ferrari seem to have caught up with them.

Renault aren't actually doing that badly when you consider they probably dont have the resources of either of the above.

I don't mind having them win until 2021, especially Hamilton. I just want a good fight. Vettel and Alonso in there. I'd also rather see Alonso win first instead of Vettel.

I wonder how many years in F1 Alonso has left in him. If McRenault doesn't turn out to be good enough and if he ends up liking WEC I wouldn't be surprised if he retired from F1 after the 2018 season. But on the other hand it's only my wild speculation. :) His WEC announcement took me by surprise. It's rare to see a driver being fully committed to two different series with one of them being F1.

Well, Alonso is 36, and Schumacher finally retired for good when he was 43. Along as Fernando has the pace I'd say he could easily go for at least 5 more years.

It's only impressive if they truly caught up themselves, and did not get some help from Mercedes so that there would still be some competition like was rumored.

The sport had no qualms trying to stop Schumacher and Ferrari at all costs, but somehow I don't see the same regulatory fervor for dethroning Mercedes.
Yes, those noted underdogs and victims of harsh FIA treatment, Michael fucking Schumacher and Scuderia fucking Ferrari.

How anybody could believe this is beyond me.

Why are you in denial about something so obvious? The 2003 points system that heavily favored runner-ups, the 2005 tyre regulation changes that single-handedly removed Ferrari from the championship, even the yearly changing qualifying systems starting with 2003 could be considered such attempts.

The sponsor's logo next to the car number looks weird on that Force India. Makes it look like BWT is the driver. ;)
