But on a serious note, I am genuinely curious to see how their claims of having one of the best chassis on the grid will stand up now that they have a Renault engine in the back.

Looks like a proper backmarker.
True maybe because we haven't seen an orange car in years, even Arrows Orange wasn't that Orange. Anyway let's hope they will be top 5 at least.

Holy shit, what the hell I can't believe I even read that!!!

The track shot looks good but from the side... yeah, backmarker. The lack of sponsors for a team like McLaren is pretty embarrassing.

I love the fact that it's almost full papaya now. Last year's livery was effin terrible. But I think that it would look even better with black instead of blue on the wings and the shark fin.

Love the papaya. The black and blue parts seem to disappear. The eyes just focus on the papaya.

Plus it's the colour that makes the most sense for McLaren. With no Mercedes engine to make it silver or Marlboro sponsoring white and red, it has to be orange. I have no idea what they were doing with their livery since they stopped using Mercedes power.

The tweet works so much better when you see the car and legit it looks like a back marker.

But im sure this isnt final.....the car doesnt even have McLaren branding on it.
Im sure the space on the side is for the McLaren branding and that the other random empty space on the front of the car is for the McLaren logo.

So the F1 youtube channel just posted a propaganda video for the halo system, this isn't going to end well. ;) If I were FOM I'd just stay quiet and let people gradually deal with this innovation just like when they revolutionized the engines.

Anything to stop cockpit intrusions is good in my book, a halo is better than nothing.

This was from 2006 when Paul Tracy's car ended up on top of Sebastien Bourdais' head:

Bourdais later said he blacked out as the weight of the car came down on top of his head.

Following the shapes of the top down ferrari, haas, williams and renault is almost like fine art, it would be "the meaning of life".

I'm excited for McLaren this season. Ron Dennis is gone. The GP2 engine is gone. They have a livery that reflects some kind of brand identity. That team had their spirits crushed every weekend for three seasons straight. It's time for some success. Alonso will absolutely be back on that podium.

The end quote of the Video:

"allowing the drivers to push the limit even further"

So it's not about safety, it's about finally doing more dangerous shit.

I'm coming into this way late so I apologize if it was discussed a while ago, but has anyone seen the Amazon f1 special McLaren? Fascinating stuff

It was inter-season, the documentary.
I wish they went much deeper with the manufacturing, both at McLaren and at Honda (for both point of views...), and continued with the R&D of evolutions during the season, but the title is grand prix drivers so i guess it was my fault for wanting too much; specially considering it's only 4x25 minutes, of which 5 minutes are lost at each episode to open and close. I hoped it would be 4x45 minutes.
I was disgusted looking at the sponsored watch, an ugly square worth the price of a Bugatti veyron... i wouldn't want that at my wrist and we spent precious minutes with the sponsorship event with Richard Mille. Who, in his good mind, would prefer that to an Omega Speed Master (if we forget the 79 or special projects).

But it was captivating nonetheless, and time flew by quickly. It was nice seeing people we used to see in the garage work on the car at the factory :)

Call me annoying, but I'll defend the black instead of blue and a lighter orange (or dark yellow). :P

I really hope Sauber can actually fight for points this season. You'd hope so with the new Ferrari horses in the back.

I agree that it was too short. On the watches, I agree 1000% I have a $500 citizen mecanico that blows that out of the water. Hell, I have an Armani exchange that embarrases that chunk of plastic (that's my daily watch)
