The title pretty much says it all, but how often do you eat popcorn, be it microwave popcorn, stove top popcorn or even the stuff that comes in chip like bags? I'm curious. Also, what are your favourite brands?

I usually eat quite a bit of it. It was one of my favourite snack foods while growing up, and something that was always readily available in my house. These days, I probably eat a bag a night, as a nighttime snack while watching TV or watching a movie. I've started doing that regularly lately, and used to eat it somewhat less before late last year/this year. But it's easy, tastes good and I never tend to get sick of it.

As a kid, we'd always have Orville Redenbacher branded popcorn, but it's gotten worse in recent years. I hated when they made the bags into half-assed bowls and you'd have to struggle to rip the red plastic off one side. The taste and value just isn't really there anymore either. I usually prefer the Walmart brand, or the President's Choice brand with butter flavour.

Movie popcorn can be great, so long as you get it fresh. The theatre by me will store unused popcorn in garbage bags in the back room overnight, then reheat it for early shows. Sometimes it tastes slightly stale and I know why. My friend used to work there and told me this. For about $7 a bag, you really should get better. Then again, I'm usually too cheap to buy it because it's so overpriced.

Maybe once every 1.5 weeks? I like savory / salty snacks a lot and don't like eating chips very much. Nuts are expensive and pretzels are rare here, so popcorn is good.

Pretty cheap to make it at home.

Very rarely now, but when I worked for Disney it was a daily thing as I worked at Outdoor Food which included the pop corn machines.

Pro-tip - It actually helped me so much with particularly bad hangovers.

I only eat popcorn when I go to the movies by myself and that only happens like 4-5 times a year.

Do you only go to the movies by yourself? Or do you not like to get popcorn when with others because it's distracting or something?

I've been going to the movies alone most of the time, unless I'm on dates. I don't mind it at all. I go pretty often however and $7 per bag of popcorn adds up. The chain does occasionally (2-3x a year) run a promotion where if you spend $30 or $40 on a gift card, they'll give you a coupon book with a free popcorn coupon among others. I bought a few and used those when I felt like it, and also had an issue where they gave me two free popcorns that I just used up.

Yeah, it's cheap and that's a big draw. I also really like the taste of it. I try not to buy the extra butter stuff though.

I was buying Walmart brand pretzels and liked them a lot, but needed a break. Chips make me feel bad for eating them, and I can live without them most of the time. Pistachios would be my go to if they weren't something like $11-12 a bag.

Usually when I go to the movies so maybe once every 2 months? And it has to be sweet. Don't know how anyone can enjoy salty popcorn.

Not too often. It reacts really weirdly with my acne meds, and it's literally the only food I've found that does. I still eat it at the movie theater and as an easy high snack, but it makes my face feel like it's sweating.

Never, i don't like the smell nor the taste.

And i hate earing other people munching popcorn in cinemas. So noisy and irritating... It was the worse thing in cinemas for me for a very long time. Only beaten now by the smartphones addicts that can't restrain themselves to look at their damn ultra bright screens during the movie.

I make popcorn every few weeks or so, only in the pot over the stove. It's a pretty good snack, I like it a lot.

Maybe once a year. Always at the movie theater. Once in a very rare blue moon I'll see and smell it on my way past the concessions and have to have it.

Not often these days. Always used to get some when I went to the cinema, but these days I go for the smaller portion of nacho chips or nothing at all.

You should just buy kernels and make it yourself. It's pretty quick, healthier, and cheaper!

I probably should. I just never think about that option or go to Bulk Barn, or have anything to make it in. I may have to look into that if it's going to be my snack food of choice going forward.

I don't think my new apartment has a stove...

One or two times a year a couple of bites in the cinema when my kid wants a bucket.
Don't really like it.

Once or twice a week. I love making Popcorn for everyone in the office, freshly popped and then made for everyone's preference. 1/3 of the staff likes it super disgustingly salty. I like it more buttery or with flavored toppings. Others just like a very nicely coated popcorn.

Sometimes I make it a little more healthier by reducing the amount of oil I use and butter.

But please never air pop. Your popcorn will taste like corn flakes. It's disgusting, don't do it.

I used to but then I read articles about the microwave bags and stopped.

I could buy kernels but I have this condition where I am simply to lazy to pop them in a pot.

I think I read that years ago but forgot about it. The place I'm moving into doesn't have a stove in the apartment, so I don't have many options and it's cheap. I'll have to try to cut down on it though.

No. It's a name that my friends mom called me in the late 90s. Coincidentally her kid, one of my good friends, is named Kenneth.

Okay. I had to ask.

I love the fattening, buttery deliciousness that is movie theater popcorn, but I refuse to eat it because I know I will gain 100 pounds if I do. Sometimes I will just eat a few, but them I will start eating more, and more until the bucket is empty. This is why I must stay away...because its dangerous.

Anyways, to answer your question op I will usually have some (healthy) popcorn while watching a movie at home every month or so, but sometimes I do lose control at the movie theater...sigh.

If I get popcorn at the movies, there's usually none left by the second half of the movie. I get a regular sized bag, but don't get extra butter.

Once or twice a week at most. Once if I go to the movies and twice if I decide to make some for the weekly Dragon Ball Super episode.

I haven't eaten popcorn in a few years, I'm too lazy to make it myself and I don't pay for the crappy expensive food when I (rarely) go to the cinema.

Depends how often I go to the theater,
A few years ago that was literally once a week.
Now maybe once a month or every other month at least.

Maybe 1 or 2 times a month while watching something at home.

Only if I go see a movie, so once a month on average I guess. Even then I don't get a big tub, always the smallest one.

I guess I pretty much eat it every couple days.
I just really like snacking on things and figured popcorn was the least unhealthy of the things I like.

You could always get an air popper that just plugs into a socket.
I've also seen people just throw a bowl full of kernels into a paper bag and microwave them.

When I watching films, either at the cinema or at home.

I don't eat it every time I watch a film at home, but will always buy it at the cinema. I'd feel like I'm missing something if I didn't have it at the cinema.

I used to work in a movie theater where I had unlimited access to it, so previous p ate it quite often. I'd bring big bags of it home sometimes too. We were a small, independently owned theater known for having awesome pop.

Now that I've moved and left that job, far less. The theater where I live now has shit popcorn, and it's made me sick on more than one occasion (though I think that's a reaction to the fake butter which is kinda necessary to give the pop any kind of flavor). I don't buy microwave popcorn much now that my boyfriend bought me an air popper, but we don't break that out too often.

A couple of times a month right now. I pop my own in the microwave (Alton Brown method, I still use the staple or else popcorn goes everywhere) or on the stovetop. I really like popcorn with real butter and sea salt, so moderation.

I really love popcorn but it tends to give me a tiny bit of a stomach ache, so I make it about once a month. Popped on the stove with some not-great-but-decent olive oil if I'm feeling ambitious and making it for a crowd; otherwise I just make the 100-calorie single-serve bags and add some extra salt. I really like crunchy and salty foods so it hits those spots for me without being too filling.
